Dongdaemun station

Dongdaemun Market or Tongdaemun (abbreviated DDM) is a large commercial district in Jongno-gu, Seoul, South Korea. With traditional markets and shopping centers, it is a popular shopping and tourist destination that has been designated a “Special Tourism Zone” (관광특구) since 2002.

Heunginjimun, literally "Gate of Rising Benevolence" or more commonly known as Dongdaemun, is one of The Eight Gates of Seoul in the Fortress Wall of Seoul, a prominent landmark in central Seoul, South Korea. The Korean name "Dongdaemun" means "Great East Gate," and it was so named because it was the major eastern gate in the wall that surrounded Seoul during the Joseon Dynasty. The gate is located at Jongno 6-ga in Jongno-gu.

Dongdaemun District (Korean: 동대문구, romanized: Dongdaemun-gu, "Great Eastern Gate") is one of the 25 districts of Seoul, South Korea. Dongdaemun has a population of 346,770 (2010) and has a geographic area of 14.22 km2 (5.49 sq mi), and is divided into 14 dong (administrative neighborhoods). Dongdaemun is located in northeastern Seoul, bordering the city districts of Seongbuk to the northwest, Jongno to the west, Seongdong to the south, Gwangjin to the southeast, and Jungnang to the east. Dongdaemun is part of the Seongjeosimni (Outer old Seoul) area and is named after Heunginjimun, one of the Eight Gates of Seoul which is not located within the district. Dongdaemun is home to the University of Seoul, Cheongnyangni station, and to Gyeongdong Market, one of the largest herbal medicine and agricultural markets in South Korea. Yoo Deok-yeol (유덕열) of the Democratic Party has been the mayor of Dongdaemun since July 2010.

Cheonggyecheon (Hangul: 청계천, Korean pronunciation: [t͡ɕʰʌ̹ŋ.gje̞.t͡ɕʰʌ̹ːn]) is a 10.9-kilometre-long (6.8 mi) modern public recreation space in downtown Seoul, South Korea. The massive urban renewal project is on the site of a stream that flowed before the rapid post-war economic development caused it to be covered by transportation infrastructure. The $900 million project initially attracted much public criticism, however, since its opening in 2005, it has become popular among residents and tourists.

It is the parent company of Bobcat and Škoda Power. Doosan Group is the oldest running company in South Korea and is ranked as one of the world's top 10 largest heavy equipment manufacturers in 2018.

Dongdaemun Stadium was a sports complex in Seoul, South Korea and included a multi-purpose stadium, a baseball park and other sports facilities. It was located near Dongdaemun or Great East Gate. The surrounding Dongdaemun market had many vendors selling athletics-related goods. It was demolished in 2008 to make way for the Dongdaemun Design Plaza & Park.

Dongdaemun History & Culture Park (Korean: 동대문역사문화공원) is a park in Jung District, Seoul, South Korea. It is on the location of the former Dongdaemun Stadium.It is open throughout the year, at all hours. From 7 pm until midnight, there is a garden of artificial roses with lights in them that are lit up. The park is accessible from the Dongdaemun History & Culture Park station of the Seoul Metropolitan Subway.The park contains a number of attractions, including the Yigansumun Water Gate, the Dongdaemun History Museum, the Dongdaemun Excavation Site Exhibition Hall, Dongdaemun Stadium Memorial, an event hall, and the Dongdaemun Design Plaza.When the stadium was being demolished, 1,000 relics and 44 building sites, with the oldest being from the Joseon period, were uncovered.

Dongdaemun Baseball Stadium was a multi-purpose stadium in Seoul, South Korea. It was used mostly for baseball games. The stadium held 26,874 people. The stadium was built in 1959 and was demolished in 2007, along with the Dongdaemun Stadium. It has been replaced by the Dongdaemun Design Plaza, which opened in 2014. A new baseball stadium, the Gocheok Sky Dome, was completed in the Guro district in 2015, and serves as a replacement to Dongdaemun Baseball Stadium.

Central Asia Street (Korean: 중앙아시아거리) is the nickname for an area in Gwanghui-dong, Jung District, Seoul, South Korea. It is so named because of the relatively high density of Central Asia-themed businesses in the area. In addition to its population of foreigners of non-Korean ethnicity, the area also has a notable population of Koryo-saram; ethnic Koreans from the former Soviet Union. The area reportedly formerly went by the name Little Moscow. Cyrllic, a script used for many Central Asian and Slavic languages, can be widely seen in the area. The ground level of the street has a number of restaurants and bars that specialize in Central Asian and Russian food and drinks, including kebabs and vodka. Along the main entrance to the street is a 10-story building known as "Mongolian Town". In addition to stores and restaurants, many of the establishments cater to the needs of the locals, such as banks, hair salons, and job agencies.The area is near the Dongdaemun History & Culture Park station and the park the station is named after.

Hullyeonwon Park (Korean: 훈련원공원; Hanja: 訓鍊院公園) is a public park in Jung District, Seoul, South Korea. It was established on June 30, 1997, and has an area of 1.67346 ha (4.1352 acres). The park is named for the Hullyeonwon: the Joseon-era government ministry that oversaw military training.

Dongdaemun History & Culture Park Station is a station on the Seoul Subway Line 2, Line 4 and Line 5. The huge Dongdaemun Market district is centered on this station and Dongdaemun Station, located to the north across Cheonggyecheon.The Line 2 station is located in Euljiro-7-ga, Jung-gu, Seoul, and the Line 4 and 5 stations are located in Gwanghui-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul. This station is also known to have the highest train-platform gap related accidents in the entire country of South Korea with the total of 365 feet accidents each year.This station's Line 5 Transfer passageway was closed from 18 July 2018 to 20 September 2018 because of construction-related work.
