Hackballscross (Irish: Crois an Mhaoir) is a small village in County Louth, Ireland. It is located primarily on the N53 road.

Naomh Malachi GFC is a Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) club that fields Gaelic football teams in competitions organized by Louth GAA. As of 2023, the club competes in the Louth Junior Championship and Division 3B of the county football Leagues. Kevin Carragher is the manager of the senior team.

Castle Roche (Irish: Dún Gall) is a Norman castle located some 10 km (7 miles) north-west of Dundalk, County Louth, Ireland. It was the seat of the de Verdun family (also spelt de Verdon), who built the castle in 1236 AD. It is built upon a large rocky outcrop and commands extensive views of the surrounding country. Together with a deep moat, its strong walls rendered it virtually impregnable. A secret passage once connected the castle to a round tower outpost. St. Ronan's Well lies nearby.

The Drummuckavall ambush was an attack by the South Armagh Brigade of the Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA) on a British Army observation post in Drummuckavall, southeast of Crossmaglen, County Armagh, on 22 November 1975. The attack, which occurred along the border with the Republic of Ireland, resulted in the deaths of three British soldiers and underlined the inefficiency of conventional military skills to deal with the situation in South Armagh, prompting the deployment of the Special Air Service (SAS) in this area.

Silverbridge is a small village in the townland of Legmoylin in County Armagh, Northern Ireland. It is within the Newry and Mourne District Council area. In the 2011 Census it had a recorded population of 112. The local GAA club is Silverbridge Harps GFC, which plays football at Senior level in county competitions. The area was historically called Belanargit (from Béal Átha an Airgid meaning "ford mouth of the silver").

Roche Emmets GFC is a Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) club that was founded in 1947. It fields gaelic football teams in competitions organised by Louth GAA. Located in Rathduff outside the town of Dundalk, a short distance from the historic Roche Castle, the club draws its support from the neighbouring parishes of Kilcurry and Faughart in north Louth. As of 2023, Roche Emmets compete in the Louth Intermediate Championship and Division 2 of the county football Leagues. Jamie O'Hare is the club's senior team manager.

The Battle of Newry Road was a running gun battle between British Army helicopters and Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA) armed trucks, fought along the lanes east of Crossmaglen, County Armagh, on 23 September 1993. The engagement began when an IRA motorized team from the South Armagh Brigade attempted to ambush three helicopters lifting off from the British Army base at Crossmaglen, one of them carrying the 3rd Infantry Brigade Commander.

On 23 June 1988, an Army Air Corps (AAC) Westland Lynx, serial number XZ664, was shot down by the Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA) near Aughanduff Mountain, County Armagh, in Northern Ireland. A unit of the IRA's South Armagh Brigade fired at the British Army helicopter using automatic rifles and heavy machine guns. The disabled helicopter was forced to crash-land in an open field; the aircraft and its crew were eventually recovered by British forces.

Mullaghbawn ( mul-ə-BAWN or mul-ə-BAHN; from Irish an Mullach Bán, meaning 'the white hilltop'), or Mullaghbane, is a small village and townland near Slieve Gullion in County Armagh, Northern Ireland. In the 2011 Census it had a population of 596. At the 2021 Census this had risen to 642.

As of 2023, the club competes in the Louth Intermediate Championship and Division 2 of the county football Leagues. Former Louth goalkeeper Seán Connor is the manager of the senior team.Situated in an area of north Louth that contains several GAA clubs, Kilkerley's local rivals are considered to be Roche Emmets and St Bride's.

Forkhill or Forkill ( fork-HIL, for-KIL; from Irish Foirceal, meaning 'trough/hollow') is a small village and civil parish in south County Armagh, Northern Ireland. It is within the Ring of Gullion and in the 2011 Census it had a recorded population of 498. The population increased to 550 at the time of the 2021 Census. Forkhill was the settlement with the highest percentage of residents that identified as "Irish Only" in the 2021 census, 80.55%, 2.18% were "British Only". It lies within the former barony of Orior Upper. Its name, deriving from the Irish word foirceal may refer to the village's position on flat land between the large hills of Tievecrom (to the east) and Croslieve (to the west).
