Yakima Meadows

The Central Washington State Fair is a state fair in Yakima County, Washington, United States held annually in September. The fair is held in Yakima, Washington at the State Fair Park. The fair was first held in 1892.

Yakima County Stadium is a baseball park in the northwest United States, located in Yakima, Washington. Opened 31 years ago in 1993, it succeeded Parker Field and was the home field of the Yakima Bears minor league team for twenty seasons. It is the current home of the Yakima Valley Pippins collegiate wood-bat team of the West Coast League and has a seating capacity of 2,800. At the northwest corner of the Central Washington State Fairgrounds, it is north of the Yakima SunDome, separated by a parking lot. The elevation of the natural grass playing field is just under 1,050 feet (320 m) above sea level, and it is aligned (home plate to center field) north-northeast. Singer Bob Dylan played the venue during his Never Ending Tour in 2010 on September 3. In 2013, Pacific Baseball Ventures, LLC were granted ownership of the Yakima Valley Pippins baseball team of the West Coast League. In 2014, the Pippins will fund a $100,000+ renovation to the stadium.

The Yakima Valley SunDome is a 6,195-seat multi-purpose arena in Yakima, Washington, United States. Located on the Central Washington State Fairgrounds, it hosts sporting events, ice shows, horse shows, circuses, boxing and concerts, as well as trade shows and conventions. The stadium opened on January 16, 1990, and cost $14.8 million to construct. The building was designed by architecture firm Loofburrow & Associates.The building features a 90-foot (27 m) dome and was the second in the world to use a concrete sectional roof design (24 segments), the first being Seattle's Kingdome. It has 56,000 square feet (5,200 m2) of space and can accommodate two basketball courts laid end-to-end. The SunDome initially had 5,200 permanent seats with expanded capacity of up to 8,000 for concerts.

The Yakima Area Arboretum (46 acres) is an arboretum in Yakima, Washington on a site adjoining the riparian habitat of the Yakima River. In the 19th century, today's site was a wetland. It was later developed for chicken and vegetable farms, and eventually acquired by the Yakima Metro District. In 1967, the arboretum was established and initial work began. Development has continued ever since. The arboretum currently includes over 1,000 native and exotic species of woody plants, as well as a herbarium and a variety of gardens (butterfly, rose, iris, Japanese, perennial, dryland, and Xeriscape.

The Powell House is an historic U.S. home located in Yakima, Washington at 207 South 9th Street.

The October 2006 Yakima hops fire was a large-scale fire that destroyed a significant amount of the US total hops production, in a warehouse located in Yakima, Washington. The fire started shortly before noon local time on October 2, 2006, in a 40,000-square-foot (3,600-square-meter) warehouse operated by S.S. Steiner Inc., one of the four largest hop buyers in the Yakima Valley of central Washington. By mid-afternoon, flames engulfed most of the building. The fire destroyed or ruined about 10,000 bales, each weighing about 200 pounds (90 kilograms) and likely worth $1.75 to $2 a pound. It is estimated this represents about four percent of the total US production.

The Masonic Temple in Yakima, Washington is a historic building constructed in 1911. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996. For many years it served as a meeting hall for Yakima's Masonic Lodges, however no lodges meet in the building today.

The William O. Douglas Federal Building is a historic post office, courthouse, and federal office building located at Yakima in Yakima County, Washington. It is a courthouse for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Washington. Renamed in 1978, it was previously known as U.S. Post Office and Courthouse, and is listed under that name in the National Register of Historic Places.

Valley Mall is a regional enclosed shopping mall located in Union Gap, Washington, serving the Yakima area. It is the region's sole indoor mall and has 55 stores, anchored by: Sears, Kohl's and Macy's (formerly The Bon Marché). The mall is located on Interstate 82 and is adjacent to outdoor shopping centers called Valley Mall Plaza, Washington Plaza, and Frontage. Collectively, the property has 80 retailers. The Valley Mall opened in 1972, under the ownership of engineering firm Morrison-Knudsen. It was purchased in 1980 by First Union Real Estate Investments for $8.9 million and later sold to Center Oak Properties in 1999. The mall was expanded by 260,000 square feet (24,000 m2) in 2002, siphoning major retailers and customers from the Yakima Mall in the city's downtown. The Yakima Mall closed in 2003.The mall's Sears store closed in December 2022 but reopened the following year.

The Capitol Theatre is a performing arts venue in Yakima, Washington. With its location in downtown Yakima and 1,500 seating capacity, it serves as the primary performing arts facility for the Yakima region.

KYAK is a Christian radio station licensed to Yakima, Washington, broadcasting on 930 kHz AM. The station is owned by Thomas W. Read.

The A.E. Larson Building is a prominent Art Deco office building in Yakima, Washington, built in 1931. When it was built the eleven-story brick structure was by far the tallest building in Yakima, an otherwise low-lying town, and remains the tallest building in Yakima to this day. It was built by entrepreneur Adelbert E. Larson and designed by local architect John W. Maloney.
