Alma Park Zoo was a 40-acre (16 ha) zoo located north of Brisbane, Australia, in Dakabin on Alma Road. The park was filled with Australian and exotic species. Alma Park Zoo was the oldest zoo in Queensland when it closed in 2014. The zoo was owned by Bill Williams who also owned a business called WW Shock Absorbers, but was built by workers, led by Leroy Pidgeon, who lived with his family in the caretakers cottage in the zoo at the time. Leroy also recovered, transported and replanted many of the mature palm trees that were a statement of the zoo. These came from older farm blocks around Brisbane that were being sub divided in the early 1970s period and Bill Williams had struck deals to acquire them. The zoo closed on 31 March 2014 and many of the animals were transferred to Wildlife HQ Zoo. There were plans for the zoo to open in Logan; however, this plan was cancelled in May 2015.Alma Park Zoo was open every day from 9am to 4pm, excluding Christmas Day and reduced hours on ANZAC Day (25 April).

It was both the 31st Australian Grand Prix and race 6 of the 1966 Tasman Championship for Drivers.Graham Hill won the race driving BRM P261. It was his only Australian Grand Prix victory.

The race was promoted by the Queensland Motor Sports Club and was open to Australian National Formula cars and Australian Formula 2 cars. It was the thirty fourth Australian Grand Prix and was race five of the 1969 Tasman Championship.New Zealander Chris Amon started the race from pole position and drove the fastest race lap on his way to a victory, with his British Scuderia Veloce teammate Derek Bell placed second. Leo Geoghegan was the first of the domestic based drivers in third position. Amon also won the 1969 Tasman Series.

Lakeside Park, formerly known as Lakeside International Raceway is a motor racing circuit located in Kurwongbah, City of Moreton Bay, Queensland, Australia. It is 30 km (19 mi) north of Brisbane, and lies adjacent to Lake Kurwongbah. The circuit was known as the spiritual home of Queensland motorsport and was built by volunteers and borrowed machinery in the 1960s. The 2.410 km (1.498 mi) circuit opened on 19 March 1961 and was closed in mid-2001. The circuit reopened on 5 April 2008, with a race meeting held the following day.
