Bridgeport, West Virginia

Ann Run is a stream in the U.S. state of West Virginia. It is located in the town of Bridgeport. In Harrison County. A variant name was Anne Branch. According to tradition, Ann Run derives its name from Anne Bailey, who paid a visit to the area.

The Bridgeport Lamp Chimney Company Bowstring Concrete Arch Bridge is located between Mechanic Street and Baltimore and Ohio Railroad tracks in Bridgeport, West Virginia. The bridge was constructed in 1924, designed by Frank McEnteer. This elegant bowstring reinforced concrete arch bridge represents a traditional bridge type which was readily adapted to what was essentially a new construction material: reinforced concrete. Unlike a rail or road bridge, this bridge can be considered an unusual pedestrian bridge in that it was built by the Bridgeport Lamp Chimney Company in 1924 to provide access from the glass plant to a warehouse on the other side of Simpson Creek. The bridge was designed to carry hand carts with glass products across the river to the warehouse. The bridge remains the only evidence of the original works, and its successor, Master Glass Company. Thus the bridge stands in splendid isolation from any other structure.

Bridgeport High School is the comprehensive four-year public high school located in the city of Bridgeport, West Virginia, in Harrison County that operates as part of the county of the Harrison County School District. The current BHS building opened in the 1969 and sits on the 21-acre (8.5 ha) campus. Since then, several major additions have been added to accommodate the increasing enrollment. The first addition was completed in the 1981. The second addition was completed in the 1992 which included the two state of the art computer labs. That brought the building to a total area of the approximately 98,000 square feet (9,100 m2) it occupies. The current principal is Matthew Egbert Demotto

The Governor Joseph Johnson House, also known as Oakdale, is located on a half-acre lot that is bordered on the north by Johnson Avenue (named for the governor), on the west by Oakdale Avenue (named for the house), and on the south by Maple Street, in the town of Bridgeport, West Virginia. The house was constructed in 1818 for then Assemblyman Joseph Johnson. The structure is significant because it was the home of the only governor of Virginia from the Trans-Alleghany region and one of antebellum Western, now West Virginia's most significant public figures.

Meadowbrook Mall is a regional shopping mall in Bridgeport, West Virginia. It was built in late 1982 by the Cafaro Company of Youngstown, Ohio. The original architecture and engineering was done by the Keeva J. Kekst company. The mall includes five anchor stores, JCPenney, Target, Marshalls, Boscov's and a Cinemark theater. Former anchors include Elder-Beerman, Ames, Murphy's Mart, Stone & Thomas, The Bon-Ton, Sears, Montgomery Ward, and Joann. Marshalls was added in 2008. ULTA Beauty opened here in 2015. The mall has a gross leasable area of 849,206 square feet (78,894 m2) and 109 stores, classifying it as super-regional according to the International Council of Shopping Centers. In 2023, Boscov's announced that a store will open at the mall in the later part of the year, replacing the former Sears and nearby mall stores. This will be Boscov's 50th store and first location in West Virginia.

Simpson Creek Covered Bridge is located in Bridgeport, West Virginia, crossing Simpson Creek off Meadowbrook Road near the entrance to the Meadowbrook Mall. The 14.25-foot-wide (4.34 m), 75-foot-long (23 m) multiple-kingpost truss bridge was built in 1881 by Asa Hugill. The current location of the bridge is not the original location. It was washed out by a flood in July 1889 and later relocated to its current location a half-mile upstream from its original spot. The Simpson Creek and Fletcher Covered Bridges, are the only two remaining covered bridges in Harrison County, are examples of this truss design.

Anmoore is a town in Harrison County, West Virginia, United States. It is located at the intersection of WV 58 and Interstate 79. The population was 514 at the 2020 census.The town derives its name from nearby Ann Moore Run.

The Pete Dye Golf Club is an 18-hole facility in Harrison County, just northwest of Bridgeport, West Virginia. It features 7,308 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 76.9 and it has a slope rating of 147. Designed by Pete Dye, ASGCA, the Pete Dye golf course opened in 1995. Tony Kowalski manages the course as the General Manager.

Despard is a census-designated place (CDP) in Harrison County, West Virginia, United States. The population was 1,004 at the 2010 census.Despard was home to the largest manufacturing enterprise in north central West Virginia in the early 1900s, the Jackson Sheet and Tin Plate Company, after 1905 known as the Phillips Sheet and Tin Plate Company, or simply the "Tin Plate Mill."

WXKX was a radio station in Clarksburg, West Virginia, United States. WXKX broadcast from 1946 to 2023 and was last owned and operated by Burbach Broadcasting Co. The station closed in August 2023, with owner Burbach Broadcasting telling the Federal Communications Commission that "expenses of operation as well as repairs and maintenance are no longer economically feasible". Burbach surrendered the station's license to the FCC on August 15, 2023, and it was cancelled on September 8.

East View is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Harrison County, West Virginia, United States. As of the 2020 census, it had a population of 817.East View is in the east-central part of the county, bordered to the west and north by the city of Clarksburg and to the southeast by the town of Anmoore. Ann Moore Run runs through the southern part of the CDP, flowing northwest to Elk Creek on the eastern edge of Clarksburg, which then continues to the West Fork River in downtown.

Stonewood is a city in Harrison County, West Virginia, United States. The population was 1,810 at the 2020 census.Officially, the name Stonewood has no special meaning, and was invented for the place. Locally, the name is said to be a portmanteau of Stonewall and Norwood; two former unincorporated villages that used to neighbor each other where Stonewood exists today.
