Käpylä (Finnish) or Kottby (Swedish) is a railway station in the Käpylä district of Helsinki, Finland. It is located between the stations of Pasila and Oulunkylä, along the main railroad track from Helsinki to Riihimäki, about 6 km north from the Helsinki Central railway station.

Serpentine House (Finnish: Käärmetalo, Swedish: Ormhuset) is a modernist apartment building complex on Mäkelänkatu in the Käpylä district of Helsinki, Finland. The complex was designed by Yrjö Lindegren and opened in 1952. It is owned by the City of Helsinki apartments company and comprises 189 rental apartments in two four-storey buildings. A two-storey service building houses a day-care center and a swimming hall. The apartment buildings also include some commercial space. The complex gets its name from the twisty form of the buildings.The yard was designed by landscape architect Elisabeth Koch in 1953. It was last renovated in the 1980s preserving the essential characteristics of the original garden design.The City of Helsinki is in the process of protecting Serpentine House as of March 2014. Once the zoning changes with the protection details have been approved, the badly deteriorated buildings will undergo extensive renovations. The apartments still include original furnishings (for instance in the kitchens) which will also be repaired. The renovation is expected to cost 28 million euros. The renovation of the first building was finished in May 2018 and it is now a lighter color closer to the original 1950s look. The renovation of the second building starts in the Fall 2018.Serpentine House is listed by Docomomo as a significant example of modern architecture in Finland. Finland's National Board of Antiquities has also listed it as a nationally significant built cultural environment together with Käpylä's wooden house districts.

Uusimaa (Swedish: Nyland), is a historical province in the south of Finland. It borders Finland Proper, Tavastia, Savonia, and Karelia. The English translation would be "new land". From the Middle Ages to 1809, most of the present-day Finland was a part of Sweden. Uusimaa (Nyland) was thus included also among the historical Swedish provinces.

Käpylä (Finnish: [ˈkæpylæ]; Swedish: Kottby) is a neighbourhood of Helsinki with 7,600 inhabitants. Administratively speaking, Käpylä is a part of the Vanhakaupunki district. It is located between Kumpula, Oulunkylä and Koskela. Käpylä has a terminus for route-1 of the Helsinki tram network. Additionally, the Olympic Village built for the 1952 Summer Olympics and another village for the cancelled 1940 Summer Olympics are located in Käpylä. The Park Hotel, located in Käpylä, became known for being the shooting location of the popular Finnish satirical TV series Hyvät herrat. One of the two lyceum schools situated in Käpylä has a specific orientation towards students with an interest in the natural sciences. The tram lines 1 and 1A as well as the Tuusulanväylä freeway bus lines travel to Käpylä. The I- N- and T-trains of the Helsinki commuter rail system stop at Käpylä railway station. There are smaller regions inside Käpylä, Puu-Käpylä (wood-Käpylä) and Taivaskallio.

Karjalatalo (in English: Karelia House) is a red brick building in the Käpylä neighbourhood of Helsinki, Finland. It is owned by the Karelian Association, who built it as a meeting place for the Finnish Karelians who were displaced during World War II and their descendants. Designed by architect Into Pyykkö, construction of the building began in 1972 and completed in 1974. The interior design by Maisa Laaksonen features large amounts of pine, as well as the colours red, black and green.The location of the building was heavily debated before construction began, with Lappeenranta a serious contender until the city of Helsinki donated a suitable plot of land for the building effort. The building effort received significant amounts of private donations. Approximately 200,000 Mk were obtained from municipalities around Finland, who were asked to donate one markka per Karelian evacuee living in the municipality in 1960.In addition to being used by the Karelian Association, the building is used Viipurin Lauluveikot as a practice facility, along with having an ecumenical chapel.

The Kumpula Allotment Garden, located at Kalervonkatu 1a in Kumpula and established in 1927, is the second oldest allotment garden in Helsinki, Finland. The garden has 268 allotments with an average size of 300 m2. This area is culturally and historically valuable. From May 1 to September 15, the garden is open to the public from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. The allotments themselves, however, are the private property of the garden's members. The garden area is run by Kumpulan Siirtolapuutarhayhdistys r.y (the Kumpula Allotment Garden Association), which leases allotments to its members. Leaseholders can transfer their lease to a third party. Only people registered as a resident of Helsinki can lease allotments. A leasehold fee is paid to the city of Helsinki and consumption, administration and membership fees are paid to the association annually by lessees. The maximum size allowed for allotment cottages is 26 m2. All construction must comply with guidelines stipulated by the city of Helsinki and the association. The association holds annual events for its members and for the general public. The most visible of these events is its traditional Midsummer celebration.

Helsinki Velodrome (Finnish: Helsingin Velodromi) is an outdoor velodrome and American football stadium in Helsinki, Finland. The protected functionalist concrete building was designed by Hilding Ekelund.

Messukeskus Helsinki, Expo and Convention Centre (formerly Helsinki Fair Centre) is the biggest and best-known convention center in Finland. It is located in the capital city of Helsinki, in the district of Pasila, a short walk northwards from the Pasila railway station. Messukeskus Helsinki organizes exhibitions, meetings, conferences and other events: each year about a hundred different trade shows and public fairs and over 2,200 meetings and congresses. The largest regularly occurring exhibitions are Matka Nordic Travel Fair, The International Boat Show, and the Helsinki Book Fair. The centre has over one million annual visitors. The premises of Messukeskus Helsinki include seven exhibition halls, 40 meeting rooms and the 4,400-seat Amfi Hall auditorium. There is a Holiday Inn hotel located immediately next to the centre.

Helsinki Motor Show (HMS) is an annual national car show in Helsinki, Finland. It is organized around November to December and it has been held in the Helsinki Fair Center. It is the only annual motor show in the Nordic countries. In the beginning, HMS was a show based on motor sports but gradually more and more upcoming cars have been shown there. Most of the Finnish car importers are present. The event is organized by Team Nykopp Ltd. The show has attracted around 50,000 visitors each year. The HMS was organized for the 11th time in 2006 and it had 55,000 visitors. A visitor record was made in 2003 with 57,000 visitors. The 2008-2011 shows have been cancelled due to economic downturn.

Helsinki Halli is a large multi-functional indoor arena located in Helsinki, Finland, that was opened in April 1997. The arena is convertible for various events. The total seated capacity during ice hockey games is 13,349 (about 14,000 for basketball, for concerts up to 15,000) and as an amphitheatre, it is significantly reduced to between 3,000 to 5,000.

The Kumpula Outdoor Swimming Pool is an outdoor swimming pool located in Kumpula, Helsinki. The swimming pool was built as a practice pool for the 1952 Summer Olympics and it is Finland's third oldest outdoor swimming pool. In 2005, the swimming pool was restored to its original appearance while the saunas and dressing rooms were modernized at the same time. The pool is open from the end of May until the end of August. The pool is popular with locals and tourists alike: it was visited by some 130,000 people in the summer 2013.
