Eastchester Bay

Cuban Ledge is a reef or islet composed chiefly of sand and small rocks in Eastchester Bay, the Bronx, in Long Island Sound. It is located between Rodman's Neck and Country Club in Eastchester Bay and is visible only during periods of low tide. It is a hazard to boats, and is marked with a signal tower.

Rodman's Neck (formerly Ann Hook's Neck) refers to a peninsula of land in the New York City borough of the Bronx that juts out into Long Island Sound. The southern third of the peninsula is used as a firing range by the New York City Police Department; the remaining wooded section is part of Pelham Bay Park. The north side is joined to what used to be Hunters Island and Twin Island to form Orchard Beach and a parking lot.Rodman's Neck has three meadows. One is a natural salt water meadow; the other two are manmade freshwater meadows, one of which was created by Robert Moses' projects. The City Island Traffic Circle and several small ballfields also exist, while every original building has been razed. A landfill area for City Island Road crosses Turtle Cove Saltwater Marsh with a culvert made of concrete pipes connecting it to the salt water Eastchester Bay. A second land berm built for horsecars had its always-clogged three foot diameter culvert removed, and a trench with a stainless steel bridge was installed.

Country Club is a residential neighborhood located in the East Bronx in New York City. The neighborhood's boundaries are Middletown Road and Watt Avenue to the north, Eastchester Bay to the east, Layton Avenue and the Throggs Neck neighborhood to the south, and the New England Thruway and Pelham Bay neighborhood to the west. Pelham Bay Park (including Orchard Beach), the largest public park in New York City, is located just north of Country Club. The neighborhood is part of Bronx Community Board 10, and its ZIP Code is 10465. The area is policed by the 45th Precinct of the New York City Police Department. Country Club contains a large Italian-American population.

Grace Episcopal Church is a historic Episcopal church at 116 City Island Avenue in The Bronx, New York, New York. The church was built in 1862 in the Carpenter Gothic style, and the rectory was built around that year in the Italian Villa style.The complex was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.

The Hutchinson River is a freshwater stream located in the Bronx, and Southern Westchester County, New York. The river forms in Scarsdale at Brookline Road and flows 10 miles (16 km) south until it empties into Eastchester Bay in the New York City borough of the Bronx. The river provides the basis for the jagged city line at the north-west of New Rochelle, where it abuts Scarsdale and then Eastchester; further downstream and south, it plays a similar role between Mount Vernon and Pelham.The river is named for Anne Hutchinson, who came from Rhode Island in 1642 and settled on Pelham Neck to the east of the river, across from where Co-op City is now. She and all but one of her children were killed in Kieft's War by a group of Native Americans the following year.

Locust Point (also Pirate Cove) is a small, peninsular neighborhood in the south eastern portion of the New York City borough of the Bronx. It is bounded by Harding Avenue on the north, the Throgs Neck Bridge to the east, and Eastchester Bay. The neighborhood is part of Bronx Community District 10. The area contains single-family houses, populated ethnically by Irish, German, and Italian families. A famous former resident of Locust Point is Michael Kay, the Yankees TV broadcaster on the YES Network and radio talk show host on 1050 ESPN radio. The Locust Point Yacht club occupies the outermost block before the bay.Locust Point used to be an island called Locust Island, however, the waterway that separated it from mainland Bronx was filled in and built upon. After it was no longer an island, its name was changed. Part of the landfill was for the bridge's northern ramp and toll plaza. Before it was Locust Island, it was called Wrights Island because it was owned by Captain J.T. Wright.

The house at 175 Belden Street is a historic home located on City Island in the Bronx in New York City. It was built about 1880 and is a simple, small picturesque cottage with an asymmetrical cruciform plan.It was listed as a New York City Designated Landmark in 1981 and on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

City Island is a neighborhood in the northeastern Bronx in New York City, located on an island of the same name approximately 1.5 miles (2.4 km) long by 0.5 miles (0.80 km) wide. City Island is located at the extreme western end of Long Island Sound, south of Pelham Bay and east of Eastchester Bay. At one time the island was incorporated within the boundaries of Pelham, Westchester County, New York, but the island is now part of New York City. The Stepping Stones Light, marking the main shipping channel into New York, is off the southern tip of City Island, near the Long Island shore. As of the 2010 Census, the island had a population of 4,362. Its land area is 0.395 square miles (1.02 km2). The island is part of Bronx Community District 10, and its ZIP Code is 10464.

Public School 17 is a historic school located at City Island in the Bronx, New York City. It was designed by architect C. B. J. Snyder (1860–1945) and built in 1897 in the Neo-Georgian style. A rear addition was built in 1930. It is a two-story, five-bay brick building on a high basement. It features a shallow wooden entrance porch with Doric order columns. It served as a school until 1975. The City Island Nautical Museum opened in 1976, and when New York City sold the building to developer Haim Joseph for $500,000 in the 1980s to develop into condominium apartments, the museum and a community center received a 99-year rent-free lease, and reopened in 1995 after renovations.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.A fire allegedly set by vandals on July 13, 2007, damaged the building's façade.

The Church of St. Frances de Chantal is a Roman Catholic parish church under the authority of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York, located at Harding Avenue at Throggs Neck Blvd., Bronx, New York City. The parish was established in 1927. The present Brutalist-style church structure was built 1971 to designs by Paul W. Reilly. Colorful chunks of stained glass are set directly into the concrete in the style of the then-contemporary European post-war stained-glass work. Larry Lawton was once an altar boy there.The abstract style stained glass in the church was designed by Albinas Elksus. Correct spelling is Albinas Elskus. [1926-2007]

Interboro Theatre was built in the 1920s and originally called the Interborough for a rapid transit route expansion that never came to pass. It was at 3462 East Tremont Avenue between Barkley Boulevard and Eastern Boulevard, now Bruckner, in the Throggs Neck section of The Bronx, New York. The first movie shown was Seventh Heaven in 1927. It hosted a variety of silent films and shows. A lice problem led to it becoming known as "The Itch". As it competed with television various draws were offered to get people in the door. It closed in 1995 and became a market and offices for the board of education.
