Jordan Valley Medical Center West Valley Campus is a community hospital located in West Valley City, Utah, United States. While it is a separate hospital, it is considered a "campus" of the Jordan Valley Medical Center. The hospital offers general medical and surgical care, general intensive care, cardiac intensive care, a cardiology department, pediatric medical and surgical care, obstetrics, an orthopedics department, and a 25-bed emergency department.Jordan Valley Medical Center West Valley Campus has 101 licensed beds. It opened in 1964, under the name Valley West Hospital. The current owner, Iasis Healthcare LLC., bought the hospital in 1999. The CEO is Steven M. Anderson.

Granger High School is a public high school located in West Valley City, Utah, United States. The school enrollment for the 2019–20 school year was 3,155 with 123 teachers, for a teacher to student ratio of 25.64. The mascot is the Granger Lancer. The school was designed with a King Arthur theme, hence the cafeteria is known as Stonehenge, and the school's colors are the same as King Arthur's (crimson red, Columbia blue, and silver gray). Granger High belongs to the Granite School District. It opened in 1958. As of the 2020-2021 school year, Granger's students are 60.5% Hispanic, 20.9% White, 11.7% Asian/Pacific Islander, 2.0% Native American and 4.2% African-American. Granger High School offers many competitive and non-competitive athletic, academic, and extra-curricular options. Students can choose from Accolade (Creative Writing), AVID, band, baseball, basketball, choir, cross country, cheerleading, Dance Company, DECA, Debate, FBLA, FCCLA, football, French Club, Glee, GTV, golf, Japanese Club, Key Club, Lancer Action Team, Latin Club, Latinos in Action, Madrigals, Math Club, MESA, NHS, Orchestra, SkillsUSA, soccer, softball, Spanish Club, Stage Crew, Sterling Scholars, Student Government, swimming, tennis, theatre, track and field, Tri-Color Times (student newspaper), volleyball, wrestling, Yearbook, and the Excaliburs drill team. The current principal of Granger High School is Dr. Tyler Howe, previously the principal of West Lake STEM, one of the junior high schools located in the Granger network. The current assistant principals are Dottie Alo, Ben Anderson, David Beck, Shawn Neilson, and Jeff Jackson. As of the 2013–14 school year, students of Granger are attending school in a brand new building. The new high school is the biggest in the state of Utah.

West Lake STEM Junior High or WLJH is a public junior high in West Valley City, Utah. It is located at 3400 South and 3450 West in the Granger region of West Valley City. The school belongs to the very large Granite School District, which covers a large portion of the Salt Lake Valley in Utah.

Granger-Hunter was a census-designated place in Salt Lake County, Utah, USA, during the 1970 United States Census. which comprises the communities of Granger and Hunter. The population in 1970 was 9,029. The census area, along with the neighboring community of Redwood, became part of the newly created West Valley City in 1980. The ZIP code serving the area is 84119.

As of 2021, Usana was the 14th largest multi-level marketing company in the world by revenue. The company manufactures most of its nutritional products, dietary supplements, and skincare products at a West Valley City facility. Its products are sold in 24 countries via a network of independent distributors.

The William McLachlan Farmhouse, at 4499 S. 3200 West, in what is now West Valley City, Utah in Salt Lake County, Utah, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.It was built originally as a 22 by 21 feet (6.7 m × 6.4 m) brick and adobe house, during 1884–1885. The two rooms are adobe lined underneath plaster. The masonry work was done by Ed Ashton, and according to McLachlan's journal a man named Bridge did the plastering.The house was built by William McLachlan, a polygamist, who was "like many of the less wealthy polygamists of the period, extremely distressed by the consequences of anti-polygamy raids. In order that his wives not be left penniless should he be arrested and imprisoned, McLachlan purchased land and built this home in a then-remote area "over Jordan". When it was completed in March 1885 it became home for Maggie Naismith, his second wife, and her five children. McLachlan himself vanished into the underground for nearly eight years. Part of the time he was employed as a carpenter on the Manti temple and used his earnings there to support his families. His wives were visited as often as it was safe, and Margaret received title to her house in 1886 to protect her and her husband from loss of property should he be caught and prosecuted. Fortunately, McLachlan was never brought to trial." However, he was unable to complete the construction of this house, and death by diphtheria of three sons in 1894 contributed to his failure to make a success of the farm.

On Thursday, January 15, 1987, SkyWest Airlines Flight 1834, a Swearingen SA-226TC (METRO II), and a Mooney M20 were involved in a midair collision at 12:52 MST (UTC−7) near Kearns, Utah, a suburb southwest of Salt Lake City. All ten aboard the two aircraft were killed: two pilots and six passengers aboard the METRO II and two aboard the Mooney.National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) investigators primarily blamed the small plane pilots for wandering into restricted airspace, but a judge later assigned 51% responsibility to FAA air traffic controllers.

Hunter High School is a public high school located at 4200 South 5600 West, West Valley City, Utah, United States. It was opened in 1990 with its first graduating class graduating in 1991. During the first school year (1990–1991), the enrollment was below capacity, largely because seniors and juniors (classes of '91 and '92, respectively) were allowed to choose whether to come to Hunter or complete their high school education at their current schools. The school celebrated its 25th anniversary at the end of the 2014–2015 school year. The school was heavily featured in the TV movie Wish Upon A Star, starring Katherine Heigl and Danielle Harris. The main gym was also used for the filming of an LA Gear shoe commercial featuring Utah Jazz player Karl Malone.Hunter High's mascot is the Wolverine and the school's colors are navy, silver, and white. The mascot and school colors were selected by a student vote prior to the school opening, from among a number of alternatives (including the Knights and the Hunters) previously chosen by an ad hoc committee of prospective students. Michigan's uniform colors were among some of the various color-combination suggestions (which also included hunter green and white) considered by the ad hoc committee, but most members of the committee voted against the colors because of neighboring Cyprus High School's colors of blue and gold. The school colors of navy, silver, and white were eventually selected. The school's fight song is the same as the University of Michigan's. The current lyrics to the school song were written in 1990 by Brian Sorensen, who submitted the lyrics as part of a school-wide contest. As of 2015 the school expanded, incorporating ninth grade students for the first time. As part of this, portable classrooms were added to the student parking lot, which lessened the parking space available.

West Valley Central station (also called the West Valley Intermodal Hub) is a light rail station in West Valley City, Utah served by the Green Line of the Utah Transit Authority's (UTA) TRAX light rail system. The Green Line provides service from the Salt Lake City International Airport to this station (via Downtown Salt Lake City).

East Hollywood High School (EHHS) is an accredited public charter school in West Valley City, Utah, United States. It specializes in film production training for students grades 9–12. As of 2013, the school principal is Katrina Walker. Chartered directly through the Utah State Office of Education, EHHS enrolls approximately 350 students each year.

Kearns ( kurnz) is a metro township in Salt Lake County, Utah, United States. Named after Utah's U.S. Senator Thomas Kearns, it had a population of 36,723 at the 2020 Census. This was a 2.8 percent increase over the 2010 figure of 35,731. Kearns is home to the Utah Olympic Oval, an indoor speed skating oval built for the 2002 Winter Olympics.
