Allen, Texas

Allen Depot was established in 1876 in the central ward of Allen, Texas. The train depot served as a water stop for the Galveston and Red River Railway chartered by Ebenezer Allen in 1848. By 1856, the Southeast Texas to Red River railroad would transition to the Houston and Texas Central Railway.By 1872, the Allen township began to acknowledge the progression of the track rail with the completion of the railway to Red River City, Texas by 1873.By the 1950s, the Allen Depot began to observe a significant regression in steam locomotive railway traffic due to the progression of the American automobile industry in the 1950s and the United States interstate highway system.

Allen station was established as a wood frame farmhouse servicing the Texas Electric Railway interurban rail line from Dallas, Texas to Sherman, Texas in 1908. The Texas Interurban Railway routed hourly passenger railcars or streetcars for access to the Dallas business district and Dallas Farmers Market district. The electric rail supported two freight delivery services transporting mail, parcel post packages, and produce from the 6 A.M. to 6 P.M. hours incorporating the North Texas vicinity. In 1912, the Texas Traction Company purchased the property constructing a new building for railway station services. By 1913, the depot was completed as a brick and mortar structure with continuation of full railway services from Dallas to Sherman. In 1917, the railway was entitled the Texas Electric Railway with service extended from Denison, Texas to Waco, Texas. The Texas Electric Railway abandoned the rail line and discontinued the rail services by 1948.

Allen High School is a public, co-educational secondary school in Allen, Texas (United States). It is the only high school in the Allen Independent School District. Allen High School serves most of the city of Allen. Until fall 2006, when Lovejoy High School opened, Allen High School served high school students in the Lovejoy Independent School District, which includes the city of Lucas, most of Fairview, and a small portion of Plano.

Eagle Stadium is a football stadium in Allen, Texas. It is owned and operated by the Allen Independent School District and is home of the Allen High School Eagles.

The Allen Water Station is a district of structures representing different items built in the 1870s by the Houston and Texas Central Railroad at the Allen Depot water stop. The site includes six contributing structures: the Water Station site, the 1874 Dam, a section of railroad tracks and bed, a 1910 railroad bridge, and the ruins of the water tank and pumping facility.

St. Jude Catholic Church is a Catholic parish of the Diocese of Dallas. It is located in Allen, Texas. The first Catholic church in the city of Allen, it was established in 1981. This parish was created with 50 founding members, including organizer Don Rodenbaugh. A new sanctuary was opened in 2005.

Radha Krishna Temple (RKT) of Dallas is a Hindu temple located in Allen, Texas. It was established by JKYog, under the leadership of Swami Mukundananda. The opening ceremonies and consecration (Pratiṣṭhavidhi) were held over eight days, 4–11 July 2017. The ceremony was attended by the mayors of Allen and Frisco, other dignitaries, and thousands of people from the nearby community. Life-sized statues of Radha and Krishna were unveiled on 9 July 2017. Statues of Ram, Sita, Hanuman, and Ganesh were later added. The temple was built according to guidelines for temple architecture set out in the Shilpa Shastra. Radha Krishna Temple celebrates all the major Hindu festivals such as Diwali, Holi, and Radhastami. The temple also has cultural events such as Sanskriti and Yoga. The temple also offers multiple classes like Hindi, Programming, and Toastmasters. The construction of the Center for Education and Culture started in May 2020 with Bhoomi Poojan ceremony. The 20,000 square feet building will have facilities for cultural programs, wedding ceremonies, youth leadership workshops, children's classes, yoga, meditation classes, and other community activities.

The Credit Union of Texas Event Center (formerly Allen Event Center) is an American 6,275 fixed-seat multi-purpose indoor arena located in Allen, Texas, a northern suburb of Dallas. The arena opened in 2009 under the name Allen Event Center. Construction cost was $52.6 million ($63.5 million in 2020 dollars). The City of Allen sold the naming rights to the arena to the Credit Union of Texas in 2021 for a seven-year term at $325,000 per year. The center hosts the home games of the ECHL's Allen Americans and the relaunched Dallas Sidekicks of the Major Arena Soccer League. The Miss Texas pageant relocated to the center for 2012 and 2013. It was formerly the home of Champions Indoor Football's Texas Revolution (also previously called the Allen Wranglers) until the team moved to Frisco, Texas, in 2017. In 2019, the event center hosted the NCWA National Wrestling Championship.On April 27 and 29, 2019, the Dallas Fuel hosted the Overwatch League's first Homestand Weekend at the Allen Event Center. These matches were the first in league history to be played away from the Blizzard Arena in Burbank, California.

On May 6, 2023, a mass shooting occurred at Allen Premium Outlets, an outlet center in Allen, Texas, United States. Nine people, including the perpetrator, were killed during the shooting, the youngest of whom was a three-year-old boy, and seven others were injured. The perpetrator was fatally shot by a police officer already in the area on an unrelated call.The shooter, 33-year-old Mauricio Martinez Garcia, was a far-right extremist, although his specific motive for the spree killings was not clear. Martinez Garcia's extensive online writings showed that he self-radicalized, adopting and promoting white supremacist, neo-Nazi, and "incel" ideologies, and posting hateful comments against women, Jews and racial minorities in the lead-up to the attack. He committed the massacre while wearing a tactical vest embroidered with a "RWDS" ("Right Wing Death Squad") patch. His body was tattooed with fascist symbols including SS lightning bolts and a large swastika.

Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve is an 800-acre park in Plano, TX and is the largest park in the city. The park has 3.5 miles of concrete trails and 5 miles of soft trails, many of which are located along Rowlett Creek. In the southeastern region of the park, there is an equestrian area where visitors can ride horses. There are 26 trails. The North Trail connects to the Six Cities Trail in Allen, which connects to the Bluebonnet Trail. Timber Chase Trail is a 0.88-mile trail which borders the main lake in the center of the park. Wildlife includes bobcats, coyotes, snakes, rabbits, turtles, and fish. Visitors can take the paved multi-use trail to the neighboring Bob Woodruff Park to see the oldest tree in Plano, a 200-year-old Bur Oak. The lake is open to kayaking, canoeing, and stand-up paddle boarding from sunrise to sunset.The Amphitheater at Oak Point Park is an outdoor amphitheater that allows visitors to watch shows while enjoying the nature. The venue can hold up to 2500 guests and is the starting point for 5K walks in the park. Located right off Los Rios Boulevard, the Oak Point Park and Nature Retreat Center is a 7,000 square-foot gathering place for many auspicious events and outdoor education.The yearly Plano Balloon Festival is held at Oak Point Park and includes many fun activities such as hot air balloons, fireworks, and skydiving. There are also many running/walking activities: 1K, 5K, Half-Marathon, and Relay Race.Go Ape is a 2-3 hour unique outdoor experience through the forest with many fascinating activities such as zip lines, Tarzan swings, and suspended obstacles like rail tracks.

Plano Balloon Festival is held each September at Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve in the city of Plano, Texas. It is one of the city's largest celebrations. The festival was cancelled in 2018 because of heavy rains and flooding. It was also cancelled in 2020 and 2021 from the COVID-19 pandemic. It returned September 2022.
