Omaha Housing Authority,, is the government agency responsible for providing public housing in Omaha, Nebraska. It is the parent organization of Housing in Omaha, Inc., a nonprofit housing developer for low-income housing.

The original Omaha Public Library building was built in 1891 at 1823 Harney Street in downtown Omaha, Nebraska by renowned architect Thomas Kimball. Designed in the Second Renaissance Revival style, the building was designated an Omaha Landmark in October 1978, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places that same year.

The Magnolia Hotel, formerly the Sheraton Omaha, was originally constructed as the Aquila Court Building, and is located at 1615 Howard Street in downtown Omaha, Nebraska. Built in 1923, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

The present Douglas County Courthouse is located at 1701 Farnam Street in Omaha, Nebraska, United States. Built in 1912, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. Notable events at the courthouse include two lynchings and the city's first sit-in during the Civil Rights Movement. Five years after it was opened, the building was almost destroyed by mob violence in the Omaha Race Riot of 1919. The 1912 building was designed in the French Renaissance Revival style by local architect John Latenser, Sr. Decorative stonework covers the structure's exterior, and the building serves as a prominent landmark in Downtown Omaha.

Omaha City Hall is located at 1819 Farnam Street in downtown Omaha, Nebraska. It is the seat of government for the City of Omaha.

The Keeline Building is located at 319 South 17th Street in downtown Omaha, Nebraska. Completed in 1911 just before construction of the neighboring Douglas County Courthouse was completed, the seven-story Keeline was designed by locally renowned architect John Latenser, Sr. The Keeline is built in the Georgian Revival style, said to represent "the prosperous commercial development in Omaha during this period." In 2010 the building was sold to KMC Properties LLC, of Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Douglas County Correctional Center (DCCC) is a jail in Omaha, Nebraska. The jail is the largest in the Midwest and is operated by the Douglas County Department of Corrections. The jail is used to house inmates in criminal or immigration related offenses. The jail is located at 710 S. 17th St, Omaha, NE.

The Omaha Bus Station is an intercity bus station in downtown Omaha, Nebraska. The station, managed by Burlington Trailways, also serves Express Arrow and Jefferson Lines. The current building was constructed in 1948.Omaha has seen intercity bus transit since about 1917, with early 16 seat buses traveling to Fremont and Blair. In 1929, a Union Bus Depot was constructed on the southwest corner of 16th and Jackson. In 1948, both Greyhound Lines and Trailways constructed new bus stations in the city. This setup lasted until Greyhound took over Trailways in 1987, and consequently moved into the former Trailways station. Today, the former Trailways station is the only intercity bus station in the city.

Boyd's Theater and Opera House was a theater and opera house at 1621 Harney Street in Downtown Omaha, Nebraska. It was demolished in 1920 and the property redeveloped for the then owner's department store business.

The Bee Building, later called the Peters Trust Building and finally the Insurance Building, was located at 17th and Farnam Streets in Downtown Omaha, Nebraska. It was an architectural landmark in early Omaha that was built in 1888 by newspaper editor Edward Rosewater to house his Omaha Bee newspaper as well as several other companies. A period review remarked that the building was "probably only second in the United States to that of the New York Herald."

The Sporting District was an area near 16th and Harney Streets in Omaha, Nebraska where city boss Tom Dennison kept the majority of his gambling, drinking and prostitution interests from the late 19th century until the end of his reign in 1933. "Cowboy" James Dahlman was reputedly voted to the first of eight terms as mayor of Omaha because he was more tolerant of the Dennison's "Sporting District" in the middle of the city.The term sporting was a common 19th-century euphemism for gambling and/or prostitution. Many communities around the U.S. used this term; brothels were often referred to as sporting houses.

Woodmen Tower, now WoodmenLife Tower, is a 478-ft (146-m) high-rise building at 1700 Farnam Street in downtown Omaha, Nebraska, and headquarters of WoodmenLife insurance company. Construction began in 1966, with the tower being completed in 1969. The skyscraper rises 30 stories and was the tallest skyscraper in both Omaha and Nebraska for over 30 years, until the construction of the First National Bank Tower.The building was featured prominently in the 2002 film About Schmidt, where the titular character Warren Schmidt (Jack Nicholson) was employed. The Woodmen Tower also replaced several buildings in historic downtown, including the Old City Hall and Edward Rosewater's Bee Building. The tower also surpassed the Nebraska State Capitol as the tallest building in Nebraska, which held the title from 1930 until 1969, when the Woodmen was completed.
