Hawley, Pennsylvania

Middle Creek is a 20.7-mile-long (33.3 km) tributary of the Lackawaxen River in the Poconos of eastern Pennsylvania in the United States.The confluence of Middle Creek and the Lackawaxen River at Hawley is located behind the Hawley Public Library. History of the name: The name Middle Creek is a shortened version of Middle Valley Creek, as the creek's headwaters originate in Middle Valley with the upper end being Varden.

Palmyra is a second-class township in Wayne County, Pennsylvania. The township's population was 1,339 at the time of the 2010 United States Census.

Bellemonte Silk Mill, also known as Welwood Silk Mill and Sherman Underwear Mills, is a historic mill located at Hawley, Wayne County, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1880-1881, and rebuilt in 1894 after a fire. It is a three- to five-story, long and narrow bluestone building in a High Victorian Gothic style. It features a castellated roof parapet. It has a one-story, shed roofed engine house addition. The mill is locally considered to be the largest bluestone building in the world. The property also includes the contributing Cocoon House; a one-story, one room stone building. In 2011 the Bellemonte Silk Mill and Cocoon House were renovated by Peter Bohlin. The Bellemonte Silk Mill became the Hawley Silk Mill and the Cocoon House became Cocoon Coffee House. The building once housed an antique resale shop. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2010.

The J.S. O'Connor American Rich Cut Glassware Factory, also known as the Maple City Glass Company, H.W. Kimble Silk Company, and Arrow Throwing Company, is an historic glassware factory and silk mill located in Hawley, Wayne County, Pennsylvania.

The land of Wilsonville, Pennsylvania and the surrounding area in the valley was purchased by PPL Corporation from about 100 owners at about $20 an acre, and all property was razed or moved in order to build a dam to create what is now Lake Wallenpaupack. Seventeen miles of roads and telephone poles were rerouted, and one cemetery had to be relocated. The original town of Wilsonville now lies under the water near the dam.

Camp Watonka was a residential summer camp for boys aged seven to sixteen in Wayne County, Pennsylvania from 1963 to 2019. It was the only science camp for boys accredited by the American Camp Association in the United States. Accommodation was in traditional cabins with modern bathrooms and electricity. Campers could stay for two, four, six or eight weeks. It was one of many summer camps in The Poconos. Field trips to the Appalachian Trail for hiking and mountain biking and to the Delaware River for tubing and kayaking were scheduled each summer. The former site of the camp has been repurposed as an outdoor facility called Watonka Outdoor. Science is not a focus of the new venture.

Tafton is an unincorporated community in Pike County, Pennsylvania, United States. The major routes in Tafton are PA 507 and PA 390. Tafton borders Lake Wallenpaupack to the west and Blooming Grove to the east. There is a lake that hugs PA 390 called Fairview Lake, which is located in Tafton. Fairview Lake is home to an all-girls summer camp called Camp Oneka. The now-closed Tanglewood Ski Area and Winter Park is also located in Tafton.

This airport was included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2009–2013, which categorized it as a general aviation facility.

Fairview Lake is a 192 acres (0.78 km2) natural lake located in Palmyra Township, Pike County, Pennsylvania in the United States, just south of Lake Wallenpaupack.The lake has a maximum depth of 48 feet (15 m). The lake is home to one of the most distinctive land forms in the state - running through the middle of this waterway is a ridge over which the water is only three to five feet deep. The lake is a prime fishing and boating area. Boating is permitted on the lake, and gas motors are permitted. The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission maintains a small boat launch facility on the southwestern corner of the lake, capacity approximately 10 cars with trailers. Boat access can be reached by taking SR 0390 north from I-84 to SR 4004.

Paupack is an unincorporated community in Pike County, Pennsylvania, United States. The community is 5.5 miles (8.9 km) south of Hawley. Paupack has a post office with ZIP code 18451, which opened on October 19, 1900.The community derives its name from Wallenpaupack Creek.The area was originally served by the Paupack School which dates back to 1925 and is on the National Register of Historic Places.

Lake Wallenpaupack is a reservoir in Northeastern Pennsylvania. After Raystown Lake, it is the second-largest lake contained entirely in Pennsylvania. It comprises 52 miles (84 kilometers) of shoreline, with a length of 13 miles (21 kilometers) and a maximum depth of 60 feet (18 meters), and has a surface area in excess of 5,700 acres (2,300 hectares). It was created in 1926 by the PPL Corporation for hydroelectric purposes as well as flood control; however, it is best known as one of several major recreational destinations in the Pocono Mountains. It is located near the Borough of Hawley, and forms part of the boundary between Pike and Wayne counties. See map.
