Ķegums

Ķegums Municipality (Latvian: Ķeguma novads) is a former municipality in Latvia. The municipality was formed in 2002 by merging Rembate parish and Ķegums town with its countryside territory. In 2009 it absorbed Birzgale parish, too the administrative centre being Ķegums. On 1 July 2021, Ķegums Municipality ceased to exist and its territory was merged into Ogre Municipality.

The Ķegums Hydro Power Plant is the oldest hydropower plant on the river Daugava and the third largest in Latvia located in Ķegums. The complex consist of two power plants. The first plant was built from 1936 to 1940. The plant was totally renovated from 1998 to 2001, including replacement of four hydroelectric sets with a nominal output of around 65 MW.The second plant was built from 1976 to 1979. It has three hydroelectric sets with installed capacity of 192 MW.The complex is operated by Latvenergo.

Ogresgals Parish is an administrative unit of Ogre Municipality in the Vidzeme region of Latvia.

Lielvārde Municipality (Latvian: Lielvārdes novads) was a municipality in Vidzeme, Latvia. The municipality was formed in 2004 by reorganization of Lielvārde town with its countryside territory. In 2009 it absorbed Jumprava parish and Lēdmane parish, the administrative centre being Lielvārde. In 2010 Lielvārde parish was created from the countryside territory of Lielvārde town. On 1 July 2021, Lielvārde Municipality ceased to exist and its territory was merged into Ogre Municipality.

Lielvārde (; German: Lennewarden), population 5885, is a town in Ogre Municipality in the Vidzeme region of Latvia, on the right bank of the Daugava river, 52 km southeast of Riga.

Lielvārde Station (until 1926, Rembate) is a railway station on the Riga–Daugavpils Railway in Latvia. It is located in Vidzeme in Lielvarde, the Lielvārde Municipality center. All but two Riga - Daugavpils - Riga trains stop here, as well as all Riga - Zilupe trains, one Zilupe - Riga train, and many suburban services from Riga to Aizkraukle. The route Riga-Lielvarde terminates here, and all trains on the routre Riga - Rezekne II pass the station.

Pārogre Station is a railway station on the Riga – Daugavpils Railway between Ogre Station and Ciemupe Station. Pārogre Station is the only railway station in Latvia, from which the next station (Ogre Station) is visible.

The Ogre is a river in Latvia. The 188 kilometers long Orge is a right tributary of the river Daugava. In the 13th century, the Ogre was called Wogen or Woga.

Ogre () is the state city in Ogre Municipality (and previously Ogre District) in the Vidzeme region of Latvia, 36 kilometres (22 miles) east of the capital Riga, situated at the confluence of the Daugava and Ogre rivers. It has been a city since 1928. The population in 2020 was 23,273.Ogre is composed of three parts: Jaunogre (meaning "New Ogre"), Ogre (the center of the city), and Pārogre (meaning "Ogre across [the river]" though not all of the named region is across the river). The name of the city comes from the Ogre river. The Ogre village was first mentioned in 1206, called "Oger" in German. In 1861, when a railway Riga–Daugavpils was built, Riga's residents started to build summer cottages here. In 1862 Ogre became a health resort. The city's coat of arms was granted in 1938 and shows the river and pinewoods of Ogre. There is a cultural centre, an art school and a music school in Ogre. It has three Latvian language schools, and one Russian language school — Jaunogre Secondary School. The city also has a cemetery with the remains of German soldiers who died during the First and Second World Wars, or died in captivity between 1944 and 1951. Ogre is the homecity for most recent (2016/17) Latvian ice hockey champions HK Kurbads.

The Ogre District (Latvian: Ogres rajons) was an administrative division of Latvia, located in the Semigallia and Vidzeme regions, in the country's centre. It was situated about 37 km east of the capital Riga. The principal city was Ogre with around 30 000 inhabitants. Historically a part of Riga District, it was split off during the Soviet occupation of Latvia in 1947 and then introduced as a rajons in 1949. Districts were eliminated during the Latvian administrative-territorial reform in 2009.
