Northumberland County is a county in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. It is part of Northeastern Pennsylvania. As of the 2020 census, the population was 91,647. Its county seat is Sunbury.The county was formed in 1772 from parts of Lancaster, Berks, Bedford, Cumberland, and Northampton Counties and named for the county of Northumberland in northern England. Northumberland County is a fifth class county according to the Pennsylvania's County Code. Northumberland County comprises the Sunbury, Pennsylvania Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is also included in the Bloomsburg-Berwick-Sunbury, PA Combined Statistical Area. Among its notable residents, are Thomas L. Hamer a prior democratic congressman and Joseph Priestley, the Enlightenment chemist and theologian, left England in 1796 due to religious persecution and settled on the Susquehanna River. His former house, originally purchased by chemists from Pennsylvania State University after a colloquium that founded the American Chemical Society, is a historical museum.

Keefer Station Covered Bridge is a historic wooden covered bridge located at Upper Augusta Township in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania. It is a 109-foot-long (33 m), Burr Truss bridge, constructed in 1888. It crosses the Shamokin Creek.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

Shamokin Township is a township in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population at the 2010 Census was 2,407, an increase over the figure of 2,159 tabulated in 2000. The city of Shamokin does not sit within the boundaries of Shamokin Township. but is inside Coal Township bordering it to the south.

It was formed in 1846 by the division of Augusta Township (one of the seven original townships of Northumberland County formed in 1772) into Upper and Lower sections. Augusta Township was one of the seven original townships of Northumberland County, Pennsylvania in the United States. It was formed in 1772 and ceased to exist on April 13, 1846 when it was divided into Upper Augusta and Lower Augusta townships .

Kipps Run has an annual sediment load of 4,985,600 pounds (2,261,400 kg), most of which comes from cropland. The stream's watershed has an area of 6.38 square miles, nearly all of which is agricultural or forested land. The stream has a riparian buffer.
