Wyoming Valley West School District is a large, suburban public school district in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. Students from nine boroughs attend Wyoming Valley West: Courtdale, Edwardsville, Forty Fort, Larksville, Luzerne, Plymouth, Pringle, Kingston, and Swoyersville. Wyoming Valley West School District encompasses approximately 14 square miles. According to 2000 federal census data, it serves a resident population of 44,510. In 2009, the residents' per capita income was $17,532 while the median family income was $40,398. The median income of a home owner was $38,252 per year.The district operates six schools, including Wyoming Valley West Senior High School, the Wyoming Valley West Middle School and four elementary schools: Chester Street Elementary School, Dana Street Elementary Center, State Street Elementary Center, and Third Avenue Elementary School. The District Administration (2009–2010)Students within the school district may elect to attend the West Side Career and Technology Center (formerly West Side Area Vocational Technical School). The Career Center, located in Pringle, offers 18 unique technical programs that not only prepare students for future employment but also prepare those among them who would like to go on to college.

Mill Creek is a tributary of the Susquehanna River in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania in the United States. It is 8.7 miles (14.0 km) long. Its watershed is approximately 36 square miles in area. The creek flows through Plains Township, Bear Creek Township, and Wilkes-Barre.

Wyoming Seminary, founded in 1844, is a Methodist college preparatory school located in the Wyoming Valley of Northeastern Pennsylvania. The "Lower School," which consists of preschool - 8th-grade students, is located in Forty Fort. The "Upper School," comprising 9th-grade to postgraduate students, is located in Kingston. It is near the Susquehanna River and the city of Wilkes-Barre. Locally and in some publications, it is sometimes referred to as "Sem." As a boarding school, only Upper School students may board on campus. Slightly more than one-third of the Upper School student body resides on campus.

The Luzerne County Courthouse is a historic county courthouse located in Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania (along the Susquehanna River). The building houses the government of Luzerne County. In 2009, county officials celebrated the one hundredth anniversary of the courthouse during centennial celebrations at which Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justice Max Baer delivered the keynote address.

The Kingston Armory is an historic National Guard armory that is located in Kingston, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

It was the location of Babe Ruth's longest home run. It used to be the home of the Wilkes-Barre Barons of the New York–Penn League and later the Eastern League.

Bridge in City of Wilkes-Barre is a historic stone arch bridge spanning Mill Creek in Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. It is a 75-foot-long (23 m) bridge with a single 39-foot-long (12 m) span. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

The Market Street Bridge is a distinguished concrete arch bridge that crosses the Susquehanna River between Kingston and Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

WRKC (88.5 FM) is a 1500 watt student-operated college radio station in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, in northeastern Pennsylvania. The station's signal is best heard within inner Luzerne County (Wilkes-Barre, Kingston, Swoyersville), but can also be listened-to in outer Luzerne County (Pittston, Nanticoke, Dallas). WRKC broadcasts 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Hotel Sterling was a hotel in downtown Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, at the intersection of River Street and Market Street. It was opened in 1898 by local businesspeople, who then owned a music hall located at the site, and was named after Emma E. Sterling, whose late husband, Walter G. Sterling, a local banker and businessman, owned a share of the music hall. Emma was a driving force behind the building of the hotel. The hotel was later expanded by Andrew Sordoni by connecting it to the Plaza Hotel in 1936. After lying abandoned for years, the non-profit organization CityVest purchased the hotel and demolished the 14-story Plaza tower portion and four-story connecting building in 2007 in an attempt to make the property more marketable to developers. Demolition of the original 1897-built building began on July 25, 2013 and finished on July 30, 2013.
