Clarks Green is a borough in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is part of Northeastern Pennsylvania. The population was 1,529 at the 2020 census.

Abington Heights High School is a moderate-sized public high school. It serves the boroughs of Clarks Green and Clarks Summit and the townships of Waverly Township, Glenburn Township, Newton Township, North Abington Township, Ransom Township and South Abington Township in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania. It is the sole high school operated by the Abington Heights School District. In 2016, AHHS enrollment was reported as 1,047 pupils in 9th through 12th grades. The school employed 76 teachers.The school is served by Northeastern Intermediate Unit IU19, which provides special education services, preemployment screening for future employees, inservice training and other services. [1] The school offers its own Vocational Technical Program, where students prepare to take NOCTI Assessments.

These include a high-school dual enrollment option, as well as associate, bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees. Clarks Summit offers master's and doctoral degrees in remote, on-campus and web-enhanced options.

Waverly Township is a township in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is bordered by Dalton and Glenburn townships to the west, North Abington Township to the north, the boroughs of Clarks Summit and Clarks Green to the south, and South Abington Township to the south and southeast. Waverly Township is part of a suburban area known as "the Abingtons". The population was 1,861 at the 2020 census.Prior to 2011, the township was named Abington Township, and was originally referred to as "Ebbington" in Connecticut's claim in 1806.

Summit Lake Creek is a tributary of Leggetts Creek in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. It is approximately 2.1 miles (3.4 km) long and flows through Newton Township and South Abington Township. The watershed of the creek has an area of 3.08 square miles (8.0 km2). It is a Trout Stocked Fishery and a Migratory Fishery. Reaches of the creek are considered to be impaired. There are a number of lakes and reservoirs in the watershed. The creek has one unnamed tributary, which is known as Unt 28530.

Glenburn is a census-designated place (CDP) in Glenburn Township, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 953 at the 2010 census. It is approximately 10 miles (16 km) north of downtown Scranton, in the growing suburban area known as the "Abingtons". Glenburn is located north of Clarks Summit and south of Dalton.

Waverly is a census-designated place (CDP) comprising the central community within Waverly Township in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, United States. Originally called Abington Center, it was founded in the late 18th century by settlers from Connecticut, along the Warriors' Path. The population of the CDP at the 2010 census was 604.

The Waverly Historic District is a national historic district that is centered roughly on Academy Street and Abington Road, and which encompasses Carbondale Road, Beech, Cole, Church and Dearborn streets in Waverly Township, Pennsylvania. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

Chinchilla is a village and census-designated place in Scott and South Abington townships, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, United States. The CDP's population was 2,098 at the time of the 2010 United States Census. It was known as "Leach's Flats" until supposedly renamed by a female postmaster in the 1880 after her chinchilla-fur shawl. Chinchilla is located in the gorge of Leggetts Creek, which flows southward into the Lackawanna River on the north side of Scranton. Interstate 81, U.S. Route 6/11 and the Norfolk Southern Railroad (former Lackawanna Railroad) use the gorge between Scranton and Clarks Summit. Chinchilla has its own post office, with ZIP Code 18410.

By 2010, the District's population declined to 23,615 people. The educational attainment levels for the School District population (25 years old and over) were 94.7% high school graduates and 47.5% college graduates. The district is one of the 500 public school districts of Pennsylvania and one of twelve public school districts in Lackawanna County. According to the Pennsylvania Budget and Policy Center, 15.5% of the District's pupils lived at 185% or below the Federal Poverty Level as shown by their eligibility for the federal free or reduced price school meal programs in 2012. By 2013, the median household income in the United States rose to $52,100.

South Abington Township is a township in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 9,526 at the 2020 census. The census-designated place of Chinchilla is within the township. South Abington Township is the northern terminus of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Northeast Extension (I-476).

Glenburn Township is a township in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, founded in 1877. The population was 1,441 at the 2020 census.
