Battersea Arts Centre

Battersea was a civil parish and metropolitan borough in the County of London, England. In 1965, the borough was abolished and its area combined with parts of the Metropolitan Borough of Wandsworth to form the London Borough of Wandsworth. The borough was administered from Battersea Town Hall on Lavender Hill. That building is now Battersea Arts Centre.

Battersea Beer Festival was a three-day-long annual beer festival held at the Battersea Arts Centre, Battersea, London, England. The festival offered opportunities to sample over 200 real ales, along with a range of traditional ciders and foreign beers, as well as bottled real ales and foreign bottled beers. The final, and 24th, festival took place from 5–7 February 2014, and was opened by Michael Hardman, one of the four original founders of CAMRA.The event has not been held since 2014. This was initially due to a refurbishment of the venue but following a major fire at the Battersea Arts Centre there have been no subsequent events

Battersea Town Hall, originally the New Parochial Offices, Battersea, is a Grade II* listed municipal building in Battersea, south London, designed by Edward Mountford and erected between 1891 and 1893 by the Battersea vestry to provide public halls and office space for its staff. The building served for 72 years as the hub of municipal Battersea until the centre of local government was moved to neighbouring Wandsworth in 1965, after which it transitioned to use as a community and arts centre, latterly known as the Battersea Arts Centre.

Lavender Hill is a hill, and a shopping and residential street, near Clapham Junction in Battersea, south London. Lavender Hill forms the section of the A3036 as it rises eastwards out of the Falconbrook valley at Clapham Junction, and retains that name for approximately 1.3 km to the corner of Queenstown Road in Battersea, beyond which it is called Wandsworth Road towards Vauxhall.

Battersea Library is a Grade II listed building at Altenburg Gardens, Battersea, London, SW11 1JB.Battersea Library was built in 1924, and the architect was Henry Hyams.The reference library is connected to Battersea Central Library.

The Ascension of The Lord, Lavender Hill, is an Anglican church in the Anglo-Catholic tradition, situated on Lavender Hill, in Battersea, South West London. It is thought to be the first church in England dedicated to The Ascension of The Lord. Built to the designs of the architect James Brooks, its foundation stone was laid in 1874, and it was consecrated in 1883. The church is one of three in the parish of Lavender Hill, The Ascension and Battersea, St. Philip with St. Bartholomew. The other two are no longer used by the Church of England. St Philip the Apostle, Queenstown Road is now home to the Ethiopian Orthodox Parish of Saint Mary of Debre Tsion, and St Bartholomew the Less, Wycliffe Road is now home to the Greek Orthodox Parish of St Nectarious.

Battersea Central Library is a public lending library situated on Lavender Hill in Battersea, south-west London. The library was built by the Battersea Vestry between 1889 and 1890, to a design by Edward Mountford, and remains in use in contemporary times as one of Wandsworth Council's libraries, operated by Greenwich Leisure Ltd. A separate Battersea Reference Library, built in 1924 with a frontage on Altenburg Gardens, is connected to the Central Library, and together the pair are known as Battersea Library.

Electric House was an electricity showroom building built on Lavender Hill, Battersea, London, England, by Battersea Borough Council. The building, opened in 1927, was broadly to a design by Henry Hyams, and was described as combining a 'fin-de-siècle manner' with 'up-to-the-minute Art Deco taste'. It was demolished in 1985.

The Devas Club for Young People (the Devas Institute until 1970) is a youth club in Battersea, south London, England, which provides sporting, educational and creative opportunities for disadvantaged youth.

Battersea is a large district of south London, England, in the London Borough of Wandsworth. It is centred 3.5 miles (5.6 km) southwest of Charing Cross and extends along the south bank of the River Thames. It includes the 200-acre (0.81 km2) Battersea Park.

Arding & Hobbs is a former department store and Grade II listed building at the junction of Lavender Hill and St John's Road, Battersea, London SW11 1QL.Arding & Hobbs was established in 1876. The present building was constructed in 1910 in an Edwardian Baroque style, and the architect was James Gibson.The department store sold to the John Anstiss Group in 1938, before John Anstiss was purchased by United Drapery Stores in 1948 and was added to their Allders group in the 1970s. Allders went into administration in 2005 and was subsequently broken up and sold. The main part of the Arding & Hobbs building was split between a branch of Debenhams department store and TK Maxx retail. As of 9 June 2020, the Debenhams section of the building has been permanently closed. The store and building is featured in a number of films and television programmes including the 1981 action-thriller Nighthawks, where the shop was bombed, and the 1994 Mr. Bean episode "Do-It-Yourself Mr. Bean". It is very prominent in the video "Life On Your Own" by the band The Human League which is set in a future, apocalytic London where the lead singer is the only person left alive and lives in the building.

Pouparts Junction is a railway junction near Clapham Junction south of the River Thames in inner London, England. It was named after Samuel Poupart (1807–1875), a market gardener who at one time owned a farm on land that is now Shaftesbury Park Estate.
