Brownsville Area High School is a small, rural public high school serving students in southwestern Pennsylvania, near the Monongahela River. It serves students living in the Borough of Brownsville and Brownsville Township, Luzerne Township and Redstone Township in Fayette County. In Washington County, Pennsylvania it serves the Borough of West Brownsville. In the 2017–2018 school year, enrollment was reported as 471.Brownsville Area High School students may choose to attend the Fayette County Career and Technical Institute for training in the construction and mechanical trades. Fayette County Career and Technical Institute is located in Georges Township. Students attend for one-half day, each day while attending their home school the other half of the school day. The school offers school to career classes and dual enrollment courses in cooperation with Westmoreland County Community College. The Intermediate Unit IU1 provides the district with a wide variety of services like specialized education for disabled students and hearing, background checks for employees, state mandated recognizing and reporting child abuse training, speech and visual disability services and criminal background check processing for prospective employees and professional development for staff and faculty.

Brown-Moore Blacksmith Shop is a historic blacksmith shop located at Luzerne Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania. The shop began operation in 1822, and remained open until 1939. It is a rectangular brick building with a corrugated metal roof. It has a rectangular wood frame wagon shop addition rebuilt in 1919 after a fire. The shop has two large stone, hand-operated forges.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.

Allison is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP), which is located in Luzerne and Redstone townships in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is situated 3 miles (5 km) south of the borough of Brownsville. As of the 2010 census, the population was 625. The CDP includes the neighborhood of Allison Heights in Luzerne Township. Dunlap Creek flows through the center of the CDP, forming the border between Luzerne and Redstone townships.

The Simpson Tunnel, so named for the Simpson Farm it passed under, was a railroad tunnel originally built in 1903 by U.S. Steel and subsequently used by the Dunlap Creek branch of the Monongahela Railway. The tunnel was made of stone with a brick arch construction. The line was utilized both to serve coal mines and coke works in the area and to interchange with the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad's Fairmont, Morgantown and Pittsburgh line and the Pennsylvania Railroad's Coal Lick Run branch. The last move on that line, and thus through the tunnel, was on November 6, 1975. The line was subsequently abandoned by 1976 and the real estate disposed, however the tunnel was not destroyed or blocked at the time. At some point between 2008 and 2010 the tunnel was destroyed, likely due to the construction of the Mon-Fayette Expressway. It is not clear whether the tunnel was blasted or simply filled in.

It was built about 1840, and is a 2+1⁄2-story, 3-bay, stone building. It has a frame kitchen ell an features a double stacked portico with Greek Revival design influences. The ruins of a wash house/summer kitchen are also on site. The tavern served as a stop for 19th-century travelers on the National Road.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1995.

It served as a stop for 19th-century travelers on the National Road.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.
