St James' and St Paul's Church, Marton

Marton, Cheshire is a small village and civil parish in the unitary authority of Cheshire East and the ceremonial county of Cheshire, England on the A34 road 3 miles (5 km) north of Congleton (grid reference SJ850682). Its correct postal address is "Marton, Macclesfield" which avoids confusion with "Marton, Winsford". Its outstanding feature is the 14th-century timber-framed church of St James and St Paul, founded in 1343. A plaque outside the church claims it is the oldest timber-framed church still in use in Europe. Marton is also home to a sessile oak known as the Marton Oak. The oldest in Cheshire, it is one of the biggest oaks in Britain. Although its trunk is split, it has a single root system and is therefore regarded as a single tree. At one time its circumference was 58 feet (17.7 m); it is estimated to be over 1,200 years old.

According to the 2001 census, the population of the civil parish was 140, increasing slightly to 148 at the 2011 Census

In the census of 2001 it was recorded as having a population of 175. increasing to 181 at the 2011 Census. The civil parish holds a parish council meeting under a grouping scheme with the civil parish of Hulme Walfield, and so it is consequently called Hulme Walfield & Somerford Booths Parish Council. The parish is small and now consists of scattered farms and small groupings of houses, including the hamlet of Newsbank. It contains Somerford Booths Hall as well as Grove House Farm and Broomfield Farm which are shown as ancient buildings on the Ordnance Survey map of the area.

Havannah near Congleton in Cheshire, England, is a former industrial and residential area and was at one time known as 'the deserted village'. It was established by local industrialist Charles Roe and named to commemorate the British capture of Havana in Cuba in 1762.The area used water power from the River Dane. There were copper and brass works and a corn mill, and cigars were made there. There were also cottages, and a modern housing development has been built in the area.
