Cowanshannock Creek (the eastern section is sometimes referred to as the North Branch Cowanshannock Creek) is a tributary of the Allegheny River in Armstrong and Indiana counties, Pennsylvania in the United States.

Gosford is an unincorporated community in Rayburn Township, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, United States. The community is situated approximately 3 miles (4.8 km) northeast of Kittanning at the place where Cowanshannock Creek joins the Allegheny River.

Mosgrove is an unincorporated community in Rayburn Township, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, United States. The community lies along the east side of the Allegheny River, 7.0 miles (11.3 km) north of Kittanning via Pennsylvania Route 66.

East Franklin Township is a township in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 3,821 at the 2020 census, a decrease from the figure of 4,082 tabulated in 2010.

Armstrong County Courthouse and Jail is a historic courthouse complex located at Kittanning, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania. The courthouse was built between 1858 and 1860, and is a two-story, brick and stone building measuring 105 feet by 65 feet. It has a hipped roof topped by an octagonal cupola and bell. It features a portico with four Corinthian order columns in Greek Revival style. A three-story rear addition was built in 1951-1953. The jail building was built between 1870 and 1873. It is constructed of stone, brick, and iron, and measures 114 feet by 50 feet, with a 96 feet tall tower. The building once housed 24, 8 foot by 13 foot cells.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1981.

Kittanning ( ki-TAN-ing) is a borough in and the county seat of Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is situated 36 miles (58 km) northeast of Pittsburgh, along the east bank of the Allegheny River. The population was 3,921 at the 2020 census. The name is derived from Kithanink, which means 'on the main river' in Lenape or the Delaware language, from kit- 'big' + hane 'mountain river' + -ink (suffix used in place names). "The main river" is a Lenape term for the Allegheny and Ohio combined, which they considered as all one river. The borough and its bridge have been used as a setting for several recent films.

Allegheny River Lock and Dam No. 7 is a historic lock and fixed-crest dam complex located at East Franklin Township, Pennsylvania and Kittanning in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania. It was built between 1928 and 1930 by the United States Army Corps of Engineers, and consists of the lock, dam, esplanade, and Operations Building. The lock measures 56 feet by 360 feet, and has a lift of 13.0 feet. The dam measures approximately 20 feet high and 916 feet long. The Operations Building, or powerhouse, is a utilitarian two-story building in a vernacular early-20th century revival style. The lock and dam were built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as a part of an extensive system of locks and dams to improve navigation along the Allegheny River.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.

The county was organized on March 12, 1800, from parts of Allegheny, Westmoreland and Lycoming Counties. It was named in honor of John Armstrong, who represented Pennsylvania in the Continental Congress and served as a major general during the Revolutionary War. Armstrong County is included in the Pittsburgh, PA Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The Kittanning Citizens Bridge is a through truss bridge spanning the Allegheny River at Kittanning in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. Constructed in 1932, the bridge carries vehicles and pedestrians between Kittanning and West Kittanning. The bridge is 949 feet (289 m) in length and has three main spans. Deck width is 16.3 feet (5.0 m) and navigational clearance beneath is 47 feet (14.3 m).The bridge has appeared in several feature films. It was used as a backdrop and later in the climax scene of the 2002 horror film, The Mothman Prophecies. It was intended to represent the famous Silver Bridge in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, which collapsed in 1967. This is despite the fact that Silver Bridge was a suspension bridge and not a through truss bridge. Effects were used to add piers and suspension cables to Kittanning Citizens Bridge, although it is clearly still a through truss bridge in the film. It was also filmed for the opening credits of the 2012 movie One for the Money, and is shown briefly in the 2009 film The Hole. Also seen in the 2009 film My Bloody Valentine.

The Judge J. Frank Graff Bridge is a truss bridge that carries U.S. Route 422 (US 422) and Pennsylvania Route 28 (PA 28) across the Allegheny River. It connects Manor Township and North Buffalo Township, Pennsylvania. It was constructed in 1974 as part of a freeway bypass of Kittanning, Pennsylvania. The structure is named for Frank Graff, an Armstrong County Court of Common Pleas Judge who later rose to become a member of the Pennsylvania Superior Court.
