Carvey–Gatfield House

The Walter Hand House is located on Angola Road in Cornwall, New York, United States. It is the main building of a five-acre (2 ha) former farm, built around 1870, to serve as both a farmhouse and summer boardinghouse, in response to Cornwall's growing popularity as a summer resort town. Today it is known as Shadow Mountain Farm, a bed and breakfast . Both properties were listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1996.

Vermont Hatch Mansion is a historic home located at Cornwall in Orange County, New York. It was built in 1935 for Vermont Hatch and is a two-story, coursed ashlar stone dwelling in an eclectic French chateau style. It features a series of slate tiled hipped roofs. Also on the property is a gable roofed, stone garage.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995.

Storm King Art Center, commonly referred to as Storm King and named after its proximity to Storm King Mountain, is an open-air museum located in New Windsor, New York. It contains what is perhaps the largest collection of contemporary outdoor sculptures in the United States. Founded in 1960 by Ralph E. Ogden as a museum for Hudson River School paintings, it soon evolved into a major sculpture venue with works from some of the most acclaimed artists of the 20th century. The site spans approximately 500 acres (200 ha; 0.78 sq mi), and is located about a one-hour drive north of Manhattan.

Mountainville is a hamlet in the western section of the town of Cornwall, in Orange County, New York, United States. It is mostly wooded, lightly populated area, located in the narrow valley of Woodbury and Moodna creeks between Schunemunk Mountain and the Hudson Highlands. The New York State Thruway and NY 32 run through the hamlet. It has the ZIP Code 10953. While signs along the highway suggests it includes almost the entire portion of Route 32 in the town, the population is centered in the area around Taylor Road between 32 and the Thruway. There is a small central area with a post office and fire department. Storm King Art Center is located in Mountainville. Famous water color artist Winslow Homer spent a year in Mountainville as a young artist and many of his pastoral themed water colors were made there.

The Kellogg House is a historic home located at Cornwall in Orange County, New York. It was built about 1795 and is a 2+1⁄2-story, five-bay, center-hall-plan wood-frame dwelling. It features an overhanging gable roof with exposed rafters.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.

The Wilford Wood House is located on Pleasant Hill Road just east of the New York State Thruway in the Mountainville section of Cornwall, New York, United States. It is a white Colonial Revival farmhouse built in the late 19th century, a period when most large new houses in Cornwall were being built as boardinghouses to serve those who came to the area as a summer resort. The Wood house, too, would be used as a boardinghouse where guests could take in the mountain air and views of the surrounding mountains. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1998. Signs around the property indicate that it is currently owned by nearby Storm King Art Center. It is sided in white clapboard, with a gabled roof shingled in asphalt and pierced by two chimneys, one stone and the other brick. The cornice is bracketed. A porch with two classical columns runs the length of the western (front) facade.

Isaac Cocks House is a historic home located at Cornwall in Orange County, New York. The main house was built about 1795 and is a two-story, five bay, center hall wood frame dwelling in the Federal style. It features clapboard siding and a fieldstone basement.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.

Cromwell Manor, also known as the David Cromwell House and Joseph Sutherland House, is located on Angola Road in Cornwall, New York, United States, just south of its intersection with US 9W. It consists of four properties, two of which are of note: the 1820 manor house, built in a Greek Revival style and added onto in 1840 and a 1779 cottage known as The Chimneys, the original home on the site.When built, it was one of the first large houses in rural Cornwall built as a luxury home rather than a farmhouse, and one of the few Greek Revival buildings built of brick in the town. After over a century as a Cromwell family home, it was sold and became a teachers' retreat.As of 2022, it is being operated as the Cromwell Manor Historic Inn, with both properties available to guests. In 1996 it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

The Samuel Brooks House is located on Pleasant Hill Road north of the hamlet of Mountainville in the Town of Cornwall, New York, United States. It is a cottage in a mix of Victorian architectural styles, most notably Carpenter Gothic and Stick Style, built around 1860. Its location, near Schunemunk Mountain, and architecture made it a desirable location for the summer boarders who made Cornwall a popular resort community in the late 19th century. It survives mostly intact today. In 1996 it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP).

The Patrick Piggot House, also known as Angola Lodge, is located on Angola Road just east of US 9W in Cornwall, New York, United States. It has gone from being a farmhouse to a summer boardinghouse back to a private dwelling once again. Piggot and his wife Ellen bought the property from local landowner Henry Chedeayne in 1869. That summer they contracted with Mead and Taft to build a farmhouse. They designed a simple Queen Anne home, less ornate than the Cornwall house that later became popular novelist Amelia Barr's Cherry Croft summer home. It had two storeys and a cross-gabled roof.They and their seven children worked on the family farm until 1910, when the Chedeayne estate foreclosed on them after they failed to pay their mortgage. In 1916 it was sold to a Miriam Williams, who renovated and modified it slightly and then in turn sold it to Max Meyers. He found the house perfect for adaptation into a summer boardinghouse. The wide floors offered enough space for guest rooms and their symmetrical windows encouraged light breezes through the house. Downtown Cornwall and the Hudson Highlands were located short walks away. Angola Lodge peaked in the 1930s and '40s, after which vacationers began preferring shorter vacations located further away. Eventually it was sold and restored to its original use. The original windows and many of the original interior remains. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.

The David Sutherland House is one of three associated with that family along Angola Road in Cornwall, New York, United States. It is the oldest, a 1770 fieldstone structure (since painted white and added onto). David was a descendant of William Sutherland, one of the town's first settlers. The family had been dispossessed of most of the large acreage they owned in the area, but some members had managed to keep, or later reacquire, small parcels. He built the house on one of them, now reduced and subdivided to the three-quarter acre (2,940 m2) lot it stands one today. Due to the steep hillside, the house has no cellar and the top story is at ground level in the rear.It has remained relatively unchanged since then. It is located on the north side of the road, about midway between downtown Cornwall and US 9W. The house of Sutherland's grandson Daniel is a short distance to the northeast, closer to town; his son Joseph's Cromwell Manor is a mile to the southwest. The inside of the house contains the original fireplace, with Federal style mantel, some doors, and timber supports in the kitchen.Sutherland sold it to his nephew Patrick, a veteran of the Revolutionary War, in 1784. He was a person of some prominence in the town, and records indicate the Town Board met there in 1798 and again between 1800 and 1805. The year after that, he left the region for the Finger Lakes and the house has passed through many owners since. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.

New York's 18th congressional district is a congressional district for the United States House of Representatives that contains the northern suburbs and exurbs of New York City. It is currently represented by Democrat Pat Ryan. The 18th district includes all of Orange County, and most of Dutchess and Ulster Counties. The district includes the cities of Newburgh, Beacon, Kingston, and Poughkeepsie.In the August 23, 2022 Democratic Party primary Ulster County executive Pat Ryan defeated Aisha Mills and Moses Mugulusi. On the same date Ryan also defeated Dutchess County executive Marc Molinaro (Republican) in a special election to fill a vacant seat in the district. The latter contest was seen as a victory in a bellwether district. In the November 8, 2022 general election Ryan defeated New York State Assembly member Republican Colin Schmitt. Republican Molinaro ran in the New York's 19th congressional district in the November general election and defeated Democrat Josh Riley. Incumbent Sean Patrick Maloney changed his election district to the New York's 17th congressional district, after redistricting maps were announced.
