River Yox

Darsham railway station is on the East Suffolk Line in the east of England, serving the villages of Darsham and Yoxford, Suffolk, lying midway between the two communities. It is 26 miles 56 chains (43 km) down the line from Ipswich and 95 miles 35 chains (153.6 km) measured from London Liverpool Street; it is situated between Saxmundham and Halesworth. Its three-letter station code is DSM. It is managed by Abellio Greater Anglia, which also operates all trains that call. The station-house is owned by Darsham Country Centre, a subsidiary of the Woodcraft Folk, and is run as a residential centre for youth groups.

Cockfield Hall in Yoxford in Suffolk, England is a Grade I listed private house standing in 76 acres (31 ha) of historic parkland, partly dating from the 16th century. Cockfield Hall takes its name from the Cokefeud Family, established there at the beginning of the 14th century. It was purchased by Jon Hunt in 2014 to form part of his Wilderness Reserve offering exclusive rural holiday accommodation.

Yoxford is a village in East Suffolk, England, close to the Heritage Coast, Minsmere Reserve (RSPB), Aldeburgh and Southwold. It is known for its antique shops and (as "Loxford") for providing the setting for a Britten opera. The name 'Yoxford' comes from Old English geoc-ford meaning "yoke ford", probably indicating that the ford was wide enough for a yoke of oxen to pass through.

Darsham is a village in Suffolk, England. It is located approximately 4 miles (6 km) north east of Saxmundham. The village is bypassed by the A12 and is served by Darsham railway station, which is approximately one mile away from the village centre, on the Ipswich-Lowestoft East Suffolk Line. The name of the village of Darsham derives from Deores Ham — home of the deer. This name is borne out by early reference to local roadways as chaseways. There was hunting in this area as late as the 18th century. Darsham is a mixed community with six farms. The village still has a pub, The Fox, however over the past few years the village has lost its school, shop and post office. The garage on the A12, now primarily a petrol station, has a cafe and a shop. There is also a farm shop, a handmade tile factory, a pottery, a builder, an irrigation contractor, seed and feed merchants and a cafe, a private nursing home and a plant nursery with a shop and restaurant.

Darsham Marshes is a 20 hectare nature reserve south of Darsham in Suffolk, England. It is owned and managed by the Suffolk Wildlife Trust. This marsh and fen site has two ponds and a network of dykes. The wildlife is diverse and flowering plants include ragged-robin, yellow flag, marsh marigold and southern marsh orchid. There are birds such as marsh harriers and hen harriers, and mammals including otters and water voles. There is access from Westleton Road.

Dew's Ponds is a 6.7-hectare (17-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) south of Halesworth in Suffolk. It is a Special Area of Conservation. This site has a variety of types of grassland, hedges and ditches, on chalk overlain by boulder clay. However, it has been designated an SSSI primarily because it has twelve ponds with one of the largest breeding populations of great crested newts in Britain. There are also grass snakes, smooth newts and slowworms. The site is private land with no public access.

Middleton is a village in the east of the English county of Suffolk. It is located approximately 3 miles (5 km) north-west of Leiston, 5 miles (8 km) north east of Saxmundham and 3 miles (5 km) from the Suffolk coast. The village is on the B1122 around 2 miles (3 km) east of Yoxford and had a population of 359 at the 2001 census, falling to 343 at the 2011 Census. The parish church is dedicated to the Holy Trinity. The village has one pub, the Bell Inn owned by Adnams Brewery, and until the last decade the village had a post office. The nearest post office now is located in the village of Westleton. There is also a park and a yearly village fête. Middleton Primary School currently caters for children aged 5 to 11 years old, and works in partnership with Yoxford & Peasenhall Primary School in Yoxford and Southwold Primary School in Southwold. The three schools make up the Yoxford Valley Partnership of Schools. Translator Michael Hamburger lived in the village until his death in 2007.

Wilderness Reserve is a private estate of 8,000 acres (3,200 ha) in Suffolk's Yox Valley assembled by Jon Hunt since 1995 incorporating estates of Sibton Park, 4,500 acres (1,800 ha), Heveningham Hall, 467 acres (189 ha), Cockfield Hall, 40 acres (16 ha) and other land acquisitions within the catchments of the River Yox and Blyth Valley. The estate, which offers high-end holiday accommodation within an un-fenced landscape developed for wildlife and leisure activities includes a recently completed design for parkland and lakes by celebrated landscape architect Capability Brown (1716–1783).

Sibton Park is a Grade II* listed country house in Sibton, Suffolk, England. It was built in 1827 by Decimus Burton and is now part of the 5,000 acre Wilderness Reserve and owned Jon Hunt.

Kelsale is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Kelsale cum Carlton, in the East Suffolk district, in the county of Suffolk, England. It is located approximately 1 mile north of Saxmundham town centre at the junction of the B1121 and the A12. In 1881 the civil parish had a population of 973.

Kelsale cum Carlton is a civil parish in the English county of Suffolk. Situated to the north of Saxmundham, Kelsale cum Carlton is one of the largest parishes in Suffolk by area and includes, in addition to Kelsale and Carlton, villages and hamlets such as Dorley's Corner, Curlew Green, East Green and North Green within its boundaries. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 Census was 990. It forms an exclave of the Hoxne Hundred. The parish was formed in 1885.

Carlton is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Kelsale cum Carlton, in the East Suffolk district, in the county of Suffolk, England. It is located one mile north of Saxmundham. The village is bordered by Kelsale in the north, the B1121 in the east and the A12 to the west. In 1881 the civil parish had a population of 94. On 25 March 1885 the parish was abolished and merged with Kelsale. Carlton is the location for all the larger businesses based at the Carlton Park Industrial Estate. Adjoining this is the Carlton Park Sports ground which is owned by Saxmundham Sports Club, also the location of the Carlton Park Caravan Site. Also on the Carlton Park is Carlton Hall former home of Richard Garrett III who is buried there in the churchyard. The Church of St Peter has a brick tower set amongst arable land in the grounds of Carlton Park. Carlton also has a Church of England Voluntary Controlled Primary (CEVCP) School. Prominent on the skyline is Skoulding's Mill, a tower windmill which has been converted to residential accommodation.
