Nelahozeves

The Roudnice Lobkowicz Library is a large private collection of books kept at Nelahozeves Castle, 35 km north of Prague, Czech Republic. The library belongs to the Lobkowicz family, a noble dynasty of Bohemia. Together with the family's collection of artworks, music, and other valuable assets, the library forms the Lobkowicz Collection, most of which is held in the Lobkowicz Palace, part of the Prague Castle complex. The library comprises about 65,000 volumes – including 679 manuscripts (114 of them dating to the Middle Ages) and 730 incunabula (early books printed prior to 1501). It is the largest castle library in the Czech Republic.

Veltrusy Mansion (Czech: Zámek Veltrusy) is a baroque château in Veltrusy, Bohemia, located in the Mělník District of the Czech Republic. The mansion is situated near the banks of the Vltava River, about 25 km north of Prague. The mansion is open to the public for visits. The mansion was initially built in 1716 by architect František Maxmilián Kaňka for Count Václav Antonín Chotek of Chotkov and Vojnín. The original mansion was extended in 1764 by architect Giovanni Battista Alliprandi on the orders of Count Rudolf Chotek of Chotkov and Vojnín, who also commissioned the interior decoration. Further extensions and the annexes of the mansion were constructed in 1804.

Antonín Strnad (10 August 1746 – 23 September 1799) was a Czech geographer, professor and rector of the Charles-Ferdinand University in Prague and director of the observatory in Clementinum, founder of Czech scientific meteorology, agrometeorology and phenology, and also one of the founders of the Czech national revival. He began recording his meteorological observations in Clementinum and in 1775 he began the longest continuous series of observations in the world.
