Tårnby station

Tårnby (Danish pronunciation: [ˈtsʰɒːnˌpyˀ]) is a town in Denmark, the seat of Tårnby Municipality in the Capital Region of Denmark. It is located approximately 6.5 kilometres (4.0 mi) south of central Copenhagen on the island of Amager. Neighbouring settlements include the Copenhagen suburb of Sundbyvester to the north and Kastrup to the south. Copenhagen Airport is situated to the east of Tårnby. It includes the islets Saltholm and Peberholm.

Tårnby Kommune (Danish pronunciation: [ˈtsʰɒːnˌpyˀ kʰoˈmuːnə]) is a municipality (Danish, kommune) bordering Copenhagen Municipality on the island of Amager just east of Zealand (Sjælland) in eastern Denmark. The municipality includes the islands of Saltholm (16 km2;2 inhabitants 1 January 2020) and Peberholm (1.3 km2), and covers an area of 66 km2 of which 48.9 on Amager. It has a population of 43,010 (1 January 2017). Its mayor is Allan S. Andersen, a member of the Social Democrats (Socialdemokraterne) political party.

Amager Bryghus is a Danish microbrewery situated on the island of Amager. It was founded in 2007 by Morten Valentin Lundsbak and Jacob Storm in an old warehouse previously owned by the Church of Scientology. Its first beer to make it into the Ratebeer Top 50 was an Imperial Stout called Hr. Frederiksen. This particular beer was crafted to celebrate a friend of the owners, Peter Frederiksen, who helped them for a whole year in setting up the brewery. Owing to the success of Hr. Frederiksen, they partnered with Shelton Brothers and began exporting to the United States. Since 2009 they have been in the Ratebeer top 100 breweries list.In 2013, one of the labels for their beer Lust was censored by the Swedish state alcohol authority (Systembolaget) because it depicted a topless woman. This was considered unacceptable by Systembolaget due to the fact that "sexual success can not be associated with drinking beer". This created a controversy around censorship featured by the Swedish media.In 2017, Amager Bryghus moved to larger premises at Kirstinehøj 38B in Kastrup, next to Copenhagen Airport.

Boldklubben Fremad Amager (meaning in English: The Ball Club Forward Amager ; abbreviated Fremad A) is a Danish professional football club based in the district of Amager Vest, Copenhagen. As of the 2020–21 season, the club's senior men's team play in 1st Division, the second-tier of professional football in the country. The club consists of an amateur department and a professional section, that is wholly owned by Fremad Amager Elite ApS – a private limited company created on 2 December 2013, initially with 80/20% ownership split between the new investors and the remaining 20% by the members – and small portion by the club's amateur department. The club have primarily played their home games at Sundby Idrætspark since the stadium's inauguration in 1922. Fremad Amager's last spell in the highest football league in Denmark was in the autumn of 1994. Ever since the first participation in the first nationwide league tournament in 1927, and subsequent promotion in 1929, the club has spent the majority of its history – with the exception of two seasons – in the different divisional structures (known as "Danmarksturneringen i fodbold"). The club reached the Danish Cup final in 1971–72 season while playing at the second highest league level, but lost against Vejle BK, who had also won the Danish championship in 1971. As a result, BK Fremad Amager participated in the 1972–73 European Cup Winners' Cup, but did not advance beyond the first round.The club was co-founder of the representative team Fodbold-Alliancen in 1940 and remained a member until 1949, when they switched to the competing representative team Stævnet and stayed with the football combination for a total of 25 years (1949–1954 and 1959–1979) until it ceased to exist in 1979. On 1 July 2008, the club participated in the formation of the superstructure FC Amager together with neighbouring clubs Dragør BK, Kastrup BK and Kløvermarken FB. The merger was short-lived. After only 8-month of existence, the merger club went bankrupt on 30 March 2009 at the start of second half of the 2008–09 season, with Fremad Amager hence experiencing a third bankruptcy in its history – the highest number of bankruptcies by any Danish football club; the first being on 22 November 1984 and the second on 13 November 1990. The league licence, that the merger team was playing under, was returned to Fremad Amager, who was relegated to the lower ranking regional football league, Copenhagen Series, shortly before the club's 100 years anniversary. Being described as a working class team, the Sundbyvester-based club enjoy long-standing rivalries against neighbouring clubs BK Frem, Kastrup BK and B 1908.

Højdevang Church (Højdevangskirken) is a church in the Amager area of Copenhagen, Denmark.The church was consecrated on 14 April 1935. It was built on the basis of designs by architect Poul Staffeldt Mathiesen (1891–1979) . Unlike most churches, Højdevang Church faces south rather than east. This was due to the fact that the church plan was designed in perpendicular to the size of the land, which was longer from north to south rather than from west to east.

Amager ([ˈɑˌmɑˀ] or, especially among older speakers, [ˈɑˌmɛˀɐ]) in the Øresund is Denmark's most densely populated island, with more than 212,000 inhabitants (January 2021) a small appendage to Zealand. The protected natural area of Naturpark Amager (including Kalvebod Fælled) makes up more than one-third of the island's total area of 96 km2.The Danish capital, Copenhagen Municipality, is partly situated on Amager, covering the northern part of the island, which is connected to the much larger island of Zealand by eight bridges and a metro tunnel. Amager also has a connection across the Øresund to Sweden, the Øresund Bridge. Its western part begins with a tunnel from Amager to another Danish island, Peberholm. Copenhagen Airport is located on the island, around 7 km (4 mi) from Copenhagen city centre. Amager is the largest island in the Øresund, and the only one with a large population. As of 2021, 212,661 people lived on the island, including its northern tip, Christianshavn. The northern part is included in the Copenhagen municipality. The middle part comprises Tårnby municipality, and Dragør municipality is located on the southeast part of the island. Most of the western part is land that was claimed from the sea from the 1930s-1950s. This enlargement, from the shallow sound towards Zealand, is known as Kalveboderne. The enlargement has never been built-up and its soil is unsuitable for agricultural use. However, the area between Dragør town and the airport is cultivated land of high quality. Amager has in the past been referred to as the "kitchen of Copenhagen". At the border of the enlargement there is an old beech forest, Kongelunden (The King's Grove).

Mountain Dwellings (Danish: Bjerget) is a building in the Ørestad district of Copenhagen, Denmark, consisting of apartments above a multi-story car park. The building was designed by the Danish architectural practice PLOT (BIG+JDSA). The apartments scale the diagonally sloping roof of the parking garage, from street level to 11th floor, creating an artificial, south facing 'mountainside'. Each apartment has a "backyard" on the roof of the property in front and below it. The resulting courtyard penthouses are an attempt to balance "the splendours of the suburban backyard with the intensity of an urban lifestyle". Throughout the building, it plays on a mountain metaphor as well as the clash between the urban vibe of the interior parking space as well as the surroundings and the peaceful and organic hillside.

VM Houses is a housing project consisting of two adjacent apartment buildings in Ørestad, Copenhagen, Denmark. Designed by JDS Architects and Bjarke Ingels Group, the M House with 95 units was completed in 2004 and the V House with 114 units, in 2005.

Sundby Idrætspark is a sports complex, that consists of a combined association football and athletics stadium, located in the district of Amager Vest, Copenhagen. It has been the home ground of the association football clubs BK Fremad Amager and B 1908 since its auguration in September 1922, and have previously hosted BK Standard (1923–1946) and the professional superstructure FC Amager (2008–2009). As of May 2019, the total capacity of approximately 7,200 spectators, with 2,500 seatings at the main grand stand stretching along one side of the pitch, makes the exhibition field among the 25th largest football stadiums in Denmark. The track of the exhibition venue has consisted of artificial turf since August 2018, where it replaced natural grass. In 2018, floodlights of 1,000 lux were installed at the exhibition field, so it was possible to show televised matches from the Danish Superliga.The stadium hosted the preliminary rounds of the 2015 World Archery Championships.

Solvang Church (Solvang Kirke) is a church in the Amager district of Copenhagen, Denmark. It was built between 1975 and 1976 on designs of architect Holger Jensen. It consists of a complex of box-shaped buildings, which also includes a parish hall and a confirmation halls. The church was renovated externally between 1998 and 1999, and inside between 2003 and 2005.

Ørestad High School (Danish: Ørestad Gymnasium) is a public gymnasium in the Ørestad district of Copenhagen, Denmark. It is noted for its innovative architecture, favouring open studying environments instead of traditional class rooms, and for its media-oriented profile focusing on media, communications, and culture. All teaching materials are digital.

Bella Center station is a rapid transit station on the Copenhagen Metro. It is served by the M1 line. The station is elevated from ground level and opened on 19 October 2002. It is located in fare zone 3 and named after the Bella Center, a congress center located to the west of this station.
