Schloss Kirchheim (Teck)

Kirchheim unter Teck (Swabian: Kircha) is a town in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, in the district of Esslingen. It is located on the small river Lauter, a tributary of the Neckar. It is 10 km (6 miles) near the Teck castle, approximately 35 kilometres (22 miles) southeast of Stuttgart. It is the fourth city in the Esslingen district, forming a district centre for the surrounding communities. Since 1 April 1956, Kirchheim unter Teck has the status of Große Kreisstadt. The city forms a Verwaltungsgemeinschaft (administrative community) with the neighbouring municipalities Dettingen and Notzingen. Kirchheim unter Teck was also, for several centuries, seat of the Oberamt (Oa.) Kirchheim.

The Lindach is a small river in the central foothills of the Swabian Alb, which rises below the Reussenstein Castle in the Neidlingen valley and flows into the Lauter in Kirchheim unter Teck. It runs through the towns of Neidlingen, Weilheim an der Teck and the Jesingen district of Kirchheim unter Teck. The source chambers are located at the top of the ridge. The karst water flows mainly from the eastern bay and after a few metres above the tuff overhang of the Neidlingen waterfall. A legend recorded by Wilhelm Hauff maintains that the source was formed when a giant tried to leap from one side of the valley to the other and slipped. The Lindach then gushed from the hole he made in the rock. The upper Lindach valley (also known as Neidlinger valley) is a popular tourist area. The ruins of Reussenstein Castle are well-known, as is the waterfall near the source of the Lindach. In the vicinity of the river, we find the Randecker Maar crater and the Limburg mountain. A bit further afield, we find the source of the Fils river, the Teck castle and Lenningen valley. The landscape of the lower Lindach valley is less attractive, but the old town of Kirchheim is picturesque, especially the nearby town of Holzmaden with its well-known Primeval World Museum Hauff, which contains one of the most important collections of fossils in southern Germany.

Kirchheim (Teck) station (1864–1899: Kirchheim u Teck) is the most important station of the Baden-Württemberg town Kirchheim unter Teck. Today's train station is at kilometer 6.465 of the Teck Railway between Wendlingen (Neckar) and Oberlenningen. It is served by the Stuttgart S-Bahn S1 line and the regional train line R81.

Notzingen is a municipality in the district of Esslingen in Baden-Württemberg in southern Germany.

The Albvorland Tunnel is a 8,176 m long twin-tube railway tunnel on the Wendlingen–Ulm high-speed railway in Baden-Württemberg. It underpasses a part of the town Kirchheim-Lindorf and Bundesautobahn 8 at the junction of Kirchheim-East in the industrial area of Dettingen unter Teck The tunnel is situated between kilometer 26.077 and 34.253 on the railway line. It is on the boundary of Wendlingen am Neckar, Kirchheim unter Teck, Lindorf and Dettingen unter Teck. It also underpasses a high pressure gas line and a NATO fuel line.

Dettingen is a municipality in the district of Esslingen in Baden-Württemberg in southern Germany.

Lindorf is a formerly independent municipality in Esslingen district in Baden-Württemberg and belongs since 1935 to the town Kirchheim unter Teck.

Hochdorf is a municipality in the district of Esslingen, Baden-Württemberg, in southern Germany. The mayors are Roland Erhardt (1986 – 31 March 2009) and Gerhart Kuttler (since 1 April 2009). Hochdorf is situated about 30 km southeast of Stuttgart in the northwestern foothills of the Swabian Jura and just south of the Schurwald. The municipality extends between Plochingen (west) and Kirchheim unter Teck (south) in the valley of the Talbach, shortly before it converges with the Fils.
