Trolley Square

The Trolley Square shooting was a mass shooting that occurred on the evening of February 12, 2007, at Trolley Square Mall in Salt Lake City, Utah. A gunman identified as Sulejman Talović killed five bystanders and wounded four others before being shot dead by several members of the Salt Lake City Police Department. Authorities were not able to determine a motive.

The Gilgal Sculpture Garden is a small public city park, located at 749 East 500 South in Salt Lake City, Utah, United States. The park, which is filled with unusual symbolic statuary associated with Mormonism, notably to the Sphinx with Joseph Smith's head, was a labor of love designed and created by LDS businessman Thomas Battersby Child, Jr. (1888-1963) in his spare time. The park contains 12 original sculptures and over 70 stones engraved with scriptures, poems and literary texts. Gilgal Sculpture Garden is the only designated "visionary art environment" in the state of Utah.

The Lone Cedar Tree is a historical monument located on 600 East between 300 and 400 South, near downtown Salt Lake City, Utah, United States. According to Mormon Pioneers, it was the location of the only tree growing in the valley in 1847, when they arrived. On July 4, 1933, the Daughters of Utah Pioneers erected the monument to honor the Mormon heritage and history of Salt Lake City.

The Sarah Daft Home for the Aged in Salt Lake City, Utah, is a Colonial Revival building designed by William H. Lepper and constructed in 1914. The Daft Home was built with funds provided by Sarah Ann Daft, whose will in 1906 specified the founding of a retirement center. The home is regarded as the first of its kind in Utah, and it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.In 1911 the Sara Daft Home Association was formed to secure release of funding from the trustees of the Sara Daft estate, and in 1912 the association leased a house near the corner of 3rd Avenue and Q Street. The first resident of the home was Margaret Tileston, a Civil War nurse who received a commendation from President Lincoln. Tileston also became the first resident to die at the home.In 1913 workers placed the cornerstone at the home's permanent location, and the Sarah Daft Home opened in 1914. Originally the home provided space for 22 residents, and later expansions allowed for 39 residents.

Artesian Well Park is a small urban park in downtown Salt Lake City that contains a natural artesian spring fed by an underground aquifer. It occupies a quarter acre on the southwest corner of the intersection between 800 South and 500 East. People from all over the surrounding area have been coming to get water for free from this spring for over 100 years.

Ivanhoe Apartments is a historic three-story building in Salt Lake City, Utah. It was built as a U-shaped residential building in 1908 for Finch, Rogers and Mulvey, an investment firm co-founded by Harry L. Finch, Richard E. Rogers and Martin E. Mulvey. Their company later became known as the Ivanhoe Investment Company. The building was purchased by Jedd L. and Mary E. Jensen in 1943. It was designed in the Colonial Revival and Classical Revival styles. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since October 20, 1989.It is a U-shaped three-story brick building with a parapet roof, upon a sandstone foundation. It has three units on each floor, one at back and one on each side, around a courtyard in the center. Its Neo-Classical and/or Colonial Revival features including a stamped metal cornice with block modillions, classical porticoes at the entrances, bay windows, and horizontal brick banding on the first floor which is asserted to create a quoin-like effect.

B'nai Israel Temple is a historic Jewish synagogue at 249 S. 400 East in Salt Lake City, Utah. The synagogue was built in 1890 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. It replaced an older synagogue, which was located on the corner of 300 South and 200 West in downtown Salt Lake City. The building was originally planned to be a "facsimile in miniature" of Berlin's Fasanenstrasse Synagogue, as most of the congregation had originated in Germany, but plans were changed during construction. The synagogue was established in 1873.The congregation observed an Orthodox style of worship until 1883, when it joined the Union of American Hebrew Congregations, the Reform movement. In 1885, the members who wanted B'nai Israel to continue to follow Orthodox tradition split off to form their own congregation, Congregation Montefiore (which later affiliated itself with the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism). In 1973, Montefiore and B'nai Israel merged to form Congregation Kol Ami, which is a member of both the Union for Reform Judaism and the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism.

The Doll and Dare is a 1978 bronze sculpture by Dennis Smith, installed in Salt Lake City, Utah, United States. The sculpture measures approximately 6 by 4 by 4 feet (1.8 m × 1.2 m × 1.2 m) and rests on a concrete base which measures approximately 6 by 5 by 5 feet (1.8 m × 1.5 m × 1.5 m). It depicts two figure groups: a young girl standing on one pedestal and holding a doll, and another of two young boys on another pedestal, with one pulling up the other. The artwork was surveyed by the Smithsonian Institution's "Save Outdoor Sculpture" program in 1993.
