Huntington Station, New York

Huntington is a station on the Port Jefferson Branch of the Long Island Rail Road. It is located near New York Avenue (NY 110), connecting it to Melville, the Long Island Expressway and Huntington and Broadway in Huntington Station, New York.

The Huntington Union Free School District is a school district in Huntington, New York. There are eight schools in the district. Students in kindergarten through grade 3 are situated at Flower Hill Primary, Jefferson Primary, Southdown Primary and Washington Primary Schools. The Jack Abrams STEM Magnet School includes students in grades 4–6 from throughout the district. Woodhull Intermediate School houses students in grades 4, 5 and 6. J. Taylor Finley Middle School serves students in grades 7 and 8. Huntington High School serves students in grades 9 through 12. The district is known for its diverse population and its broad-ranging academic and extracurricular programs, including widely recognized programs in the arts and athletics. The district has greatly expanded its STEM initiatives during the past few years, including the STEM Magnet School program and a middle school STEM enrichment program. The district also features an expanding and inclusive science research program at Huntington High School, which produced a Intel Science Talent Search winner in 2014. The elementary dual-language program is another popular option for elementary parents and students.

John Wood House is a historic home located at Huntington Station in Suffolk County, New York. It was built about 1704 and is a four bay, one story dwelling which has a saltbox profile and massive central chimney. Also on the property is a gable roofed well structure.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

Ezra Carll Homestead is a historic home located in South Huntington, New York in Suffolk County, New York. It is located on the northwest corner of Melville Road and Eckert Street and was built about 1700 and is a 2-story, gable-roofed, wood-shingle dwelling with a lean-to profile and second-story overhang. The oldest part of the structure is the 1+1⁄2-story, gable-roofed south wing. It has a rubblestone foundation and massive central chimney.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

Walt Whitman Shops (formerly known as Walt Whitman Mall) is a shopping mall in Huntington Station, New York in Suffolk County, New York on Long Island. The mall features the traditional retailers Macy's, Bloomingdale's, and Saks Fifth Avenue. The mall is named for the poet Walt Whitman due to the close proximity to his birthplace, a US National Historic Site, located near the mall.The mall is owned and managed by Simon Property Group, one of the largest developers of shopping malls in the US. On August 27, 2020, it was announced that Lord & Taylor would shutter its traditional brick-and-mortar format as a direct result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The previous Lord & Taylor outpost is in the approval stages to become reconstructed for a vibrant modern office use concept.

The Rogers House is an historic house located at 136 Spring Road in Huntington, New York, which was built in 1820 in the Greek Revival style. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

South Huntington is an affluent hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) within the Town of Huntington in Suffolk County, on Long Island, in New York, United States. The population was 9,422 at the 2010 census. Residents have a Huntington Station postal address. South Huntington is considered part of the greater Huntington area, which is anchored by Huntington. South Huntington is the birthplace of Walt Whitman, and the Walt Whitman Shops Mall is nearby. It is also home to St. Anthony's High School, Walt Whitman High School and the South Huntington Public Library. The Walt Whitman Shops were previously known as the Walt Whitman Shopping Center. The department store chain Abraham & Straus purchased 45 acres in South Huntington in 1956 to build a shopping mall and parking lot. An A & S store would be built as the centerpiece of the mall. The groundbreaking ceremony for the shopping center took place on April 20, 1961. The first store to open, on March 28, 1962, was Abraham & Straus, followed by Macy's on September 18, 1962. The official opening for the entire shopping center was in November 1962. It was the first enclosed shopping center on Long Island. The mall had 75 stores, lighted fountains, and a reflecting pool. The parking lot had spaces for 5,000 cars.Renovations at the mall took place in 1998, including changes to the main concourse and an elevated parking deck. Also in this time period, three new department stores were added. Bloomingdale's opened on August 5, 1998 followed by Lord & Taylor on November 11, 1998. Saks Fifth Avenue opened its doors on March 11, 1999. A second renovation was completed in November 2013. This included adding 70,000 square feet to the facility as well as doing exterior remodeling. A statue of Walt Whitman was also added.Walt Whitman Shops is currently owned by the Simon Property Group.

Walt Whitman High School is a four-year public secondary school located at 301 West Hills Road, in Huntington Station, New York. It is South Huntington Union Free School District's only high school, serving students in Huntington Station, South Huntington, Melville, and West Hills. The school typically has around 2,000 students in grades 9–12.

Wiggins-Rolph House is a historic home located at Huntington in Suffolk County, New York. It was built in 1848 and is a 2+1⁄2-story, five-bay shingled residence in the Greek Revival style. It has a modern 1-story south wing and modern 2-story north wing. It features a steeply pitched gable roof and paired interior end chimneys.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

Whitman-Place House is a historic home located at West Hills in Suffolk County, New York. It was built about 1810 and is a 2+1⁄2-story, three-bay shingled residence which was greatly enlarged with a 2+1⁄2-story, three-bay south wing built in the 20th century. Also on the property is an early-19th-century barn and springhouse.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.
