Schuylerville, New York

Bullard Block is a historic commercial building located at Schuylerville in Saratoga County, New York. It was built in 1881 and is a rectangular two story brick building on a limestone foundation in the High Victorian Gothic style. It has five storefront bays and originally housed the National Bank of Schuylerville.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

Old Saratoga Reformed Church is a historic building at the junction of Burgoyne and Pearl Streets in Schuylerville, Saratoga County, New York. It is part of the Reformed Church in America and was built in 1857 in the Greek Revival style. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.The Old Saratoga Reformed Church was organized in 1770, and was used as a hospital during the Revolutionary War.

St. Stephen's Episcopal Church is a historic Episcopal church at 1 Grove Street in Schuylerville, Saratoga County, New York. It was built in 1868 and is a cruciform plan church building in the Gothic Revival style. It is built of quarry faced stone block laid in random ashlar. It features a steeply pitched gable roof and polygonal steeple, both covered in ornate polychrome slate.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

The Schuyler House or General Schuyler House was built in November 1777 over 29 days for General Philip Schuyler (later Senator Schuyler, and Alexander Hamilton's father-in-law). It is now part of Saratoga National Historical Park (located 8 miles away). The British Army occupied the house during the American Revolution and burned it down upon their retreat under the command of General John Burgoyne.After the British surrender it was rebuilt, including with salvaged glass, nails, locks and hinges recovered from the burned home. General Schuyler conducted his business affairs from the home. It was visited by George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, the Marquis de Lafayette and President Franklin D. Roosevelt. It was given to the U.S. government. It has no electricity or running water and remains largely as it was in 1777. The home is open from late May to Labor Day.

Schuylerville is a member of the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) and competes as a Class B school in Section II with a league affiliation in the Foothills Council.Schuylerville encompasses parts of seven townships: Easton, Fort Edward, Greenwich, Northumberland, Saratoga, Stillwater and Wilton. It is in the Hudson Valley of upstate New York, 10 miles east of Saratoga Springs and 40 miles north of Albany. The area's first schools to the late 1700s and by the late 1800s there were 12 different districts within the town. New schools were continually built to accommodate a growing population. Schuylerville High School opened in 1926 at the corner of Spring Street and Broadway. It cost $225,000. General Stark's house was moved from the site to make way for the school. Additions were added in 1938 and 1947.The Schuylerville Central School District was formed in 1946 and the Jr.-Sr. High School was constructed in 1955 followed by an elementary school in 1966. Additions, renovations and upgrades followed.In 1990, a lawsuit arose between the Schuylerville school board and a local Jewish family, over the removal of a painting depicting the crucifixion of Christ from public display in the school auditorium. This lawsuit, which the school lost, was said to have prompted a visit to Schuylerville by a Ku Klux Klan member. At the same time, the Reverend Al Sharpton staged a counter-protest over the presence of the Klan.

Schuyler Bridge carries New York State Route 29 (NY 29) across the Hudson River east of U.S. Route 4 and NY 32 from Schuylerville in Saratoga County into Easton in Washington County. It was named for Philip Schuyler, a general in the American Revolution. NY 29 is named the General Philip Schuyler Memorial Highway west of Schuylerville.

The Batten Kill, Battenkill, or Battenkill River is a 59.4-mile-long (95.6 km) river rising in Vermont that flows into New York and is a tributary of the Hudson River. It is the longest Hudson tributary on that river's east. As "kill" means a creek, the name "Battenkill River" is pleonastic.The mouth of the Batten Kill is in Easton, New York, and the source of the river is in East Dorset, Vermont. The river is known for its fishing, as it has a prominent trout population. The Shushan Covered Bridge crosses it at one point, and the headquarters of the Orvis Corporation are also located along its course. The Batten Kill valley is home to the Tour of the Battenkill, the largest road cycling race in North America.The Native American name for the river is either Dionoondehowee or Ondawa.

The Saratoga Battle Monument is a 155-foot (47 m) granite obelisk located in the village of Victory, Saratoga County, New York. The monument commemorates what is called the "Turning Point" of the American Revolution—the surrender of British forces led by General John Burgoyne to the Americans under General Horatio Gates.

DeRidder Homestead is a historic home located at Easton in Washington County, New York. It consists of a two-story, three by two bay, brick main block with a one-story rear wing. The earliest part of the house dates to about 1735. Also on the property is a barn and several outbuildings.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

Victory Mills is a historic textile mill building located at Victory in Saratoga County, New York. It was built in 1918 by the American Manufacturing Company and is a rectangular, five story brick and reinforced concrete building measuring 282 feet (86 m) by 157 feet (48 m). It has about 220,000 square feet (20,000 m2) of space. It features six tower structures, five for stairs and one holding a water tower. It operated as a cotton mill until 1929, when operations moved to Guntersville, Alabama. In 1937, it was purchased by the United Board and Carton Corporation, later A.L. Garber / Wheelabrator-Frye, then Clevepak Corporation / Victory Specialty Packaging Company who manufactured folding cartons.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.
