Central Square, New York

Central Square Central School District is a school district centered in Oswego County, New York. The Superintendent of Schools is Mr. Thomas J. Colabufo. The Board of Education President is Andrew M. Martin II. School colors are maroon and white. The district is composed of communities in parts of three counties. The district is based in Oswego County, New York, and includes all of the towns of Hastings, West Monroe, and Constantia, plus parts of the towns of Palermo, Mexico, and Parish. Portions of the Onondaga County, New York towns of Cicero and Clay and the Oneida County, New York town of Vienna are also part of the district. The villages of Central Square and Cleveland, plus the hamlets of Brewerton, Bernhards Bay, and Mallory lie within the district. The district formerly operated its district office located at 642 S. Main Street, in the Village of Central Square, and operations have since been dispersed across the district when it was decided to close the building by the end of the 2016-2017 school year. In 1926, the former district office was the site of the original Central Square High School facility. In 1993, Central Square Middle School was constructed, incorporating a Transportation Center. This facility houses all of the districts vehicles including 85 school buses, 10 maintenance vehicles, and numerous specialty vehicles. Central Square Schools employs over 700 full-time staff members, including teachers, teaching assistants, bus drivers, and administrative staff. The Central Square School District is more than 200 square miles in size, making it the largest school district by land size alone in the state of New York, and the largest public school district in the region.

Central New York Raceway Park is a motorsports complex currently under construction in Central Square, New York, United States. The complex will feature a 2.2 mile (3.54 km) road course and a 5/8 mile synthetic dirt oval for both auto & harness racing. The 2.2 mile road course was designed by Peter Argetsinger and will be the only natural terrain road course in North America featuring a permanent lighting system. The 5/8 mile synthetic dirt oval will also feature a smaller oval for go-karts and flat track speedway bike racing. In September 2015, the track announced that the 5/8 mile synthetic dirt oval will host Super DIRT Week featuring the Super DIRTcar Series starting in 2016. While the road course & oval tracks have been under development, the circuit also hosts the SCCA CNY Region Rallycross.In March 2016, the track announced that the 5/8 mile synthetic dirt oval will host the AMA Pro Flat Track on August 20, 2016. CNYRP also announced that MotoAmerica will race on the 2.2 mile road course in 2017.Construction on the road course and dirt track stalled in 2016, and as of 2021 the project effectively remains in limbo.

Brewerton Speedway is a 1/3rd mile D-shaped dirt oval raceway in Brewerton, New York. It is considered one of the oldest jewels of the robust Central New York racing scene.

Fort Brewerton is a historic fort site located at Brewerton in Oswego County, New York. It is the site of a fort that originally was in the form of an eight-pointed star with sixteen 30-foot (9.1 m) faces surrounded by a 10-foot (3.0 m) moat. The 480-foot-long (150 m) parapet had earth walls 5 feet (1.5 m) high from which projected log palisades. Within the parapet were four log blockhouses, smaller buildings for munitions and supplies, and wells. It was erected in 1759 to defend the passage from Albany to the port of Oswego.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.The Fort Brewerton Historical Society operates the Oliver Stevens Blockhouse Museum, with excavated artifacts and exhibits about the fort and area history. The museum is a log reconstruction of a late 18th-century log block house that was located on the site. The museum is open on Saturdays from June through September.

Brewerton is a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Cicero in Onondaga County and the town of Hastings in Oswego County in the U.S. state of New York. It lies at the west end of Oneida Lake at its outlet into the Oneida River. The population was 4,549 at the 2020 census. Maps of the 19th century indicate that this area was once known as Fort Brewerton, while Brewerton meant the Cicero portion.

Sand Ridge is a hamlet (and census-designated place) in Oswego County, New York, United States. The population was 849 at the 2010 census. Sand Ridge is in the southern section of the Town of Schroeppel.

Hastings is a town in Oswego County, New York, United States. Its population was 9,450 at the 2010 census. It is named after Hastings Curtiss, a prominent citizen and member of the State Assembly in 1824. It is on the county's southern border. U.S. Route 11 and Interstate 81 pass through it.

Carley's Mills Schoolhouse is a historic one-room school building located at Hastings in Oswego County, New York. It is a modestly scaled, one story frame building built about 1870. On the rooftop is a hipped roof belfry, which still retains what appears to be the original bell. Also on the property is a cast iron water pump. It ceased being used as a school in 1953.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

Schroeppel House is a historic home located in Schroeppel in Oswego County, New York. The original section was built in 1818 and is a Neoclassical-style structure. The principal mass is a three- by four-bay, 2+1⁄2-story frame house constructed in the style of a prostyle tetrastyle temple. It features a 2-story portico with Ionic columns. The house is currently used as a bed and breakfast called River Edge Mansion.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.
