Beaverdam Lake–Salisbury Mills, New York

Salisbury Mills is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in the towns of Blooming Grove and Cornwall in Orange County, New York, United States. As of the 2020 census, it had a population of 580.The CDP is in eastern Orange County and is bordered to the north by Beaver Dam Lake. Salisbury Mills is built along Moodna Creek, which flows east into the Hudson River between New Windsor and Cornwall-on-Hudson. The Moodna Viaduct, the longest actively used rail trestle in the eastern United States, crosses Moodna Creek at the eastern edge of the CDP. New York State Route 94 forms the northern edge of the CDP. It leads northeast 6 miles (10 km) to New Windsor and southwest 10 miles (16 km) to Chester. Newburgh is 8 miles (13 km) to the northeast, and Middletown is 19 miles (31 km) to the west.

Salisbury Mills–Cornwall station is a commuter rail stop on the Metro-North Railroad's Port Jervis Line, located in the Beaver Dam Lake section of the town of Cornwall, New York. The station is located at the northern end of the Moodna Viaduct, accessible from NY 94. Parking fees are charged on weekdays, with both permit and metered spaces available. Salisbury Mills–Cornwall station contains a large parking lot, lighting, elongated canopy and a mini high-level platform for wheelchair access to trains. The station, located on the former Erie Railroad Graham Line, a former freight-only bypass route, opened on April 18, 1983 when the Metropolitan Transportation Authority moved service off the former Erie main line to the Graham Line. The Erie formerly served the hamlet of Salisbury Mills via its Newburgh Branch from January 8, 1850 to April 25, 1936, and served Cornwall via the Newburgh Shortcut.

The Moodna Viaduct is a steel railroad trestle spanning Moodna Creek and its valley at the north end of Schunemunk Mountain in Cornwall, New York, near the hamlet of Salisbury Mills.

The A. Walsh Stone House and Farm Complex is located along NY 94 in the Orange County town of Cornwall, New York, United States. It is next to the Salisbury Mills Metro-North station and not far from the Moodna Viaduct. The center of the complex, still a working farm, is a stone Greek Revival house.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.

Denniston–Steidle House also known as Pineview Farm and the Steidle Farm is a historic home located at New Windsor in Orange County, New York. It was built about 1875, with a rear ell added in 1915. It consists of a two-story, three-bay, Italianate style main block with a 1+1⁄2-story rear ell. The farmhouse is a rare example of non-reinforced lime-based concrete construction in the region; the ell is of terra cotta block construction. Also on the property are the contributing timber frame banked carriage house (c. 1875), terra cotta block wellhouse (c. 1915), and a frame outhouse (c. 1915).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012.

Schunemunk Mountain (also spelled Schunnemunk) is the highest mountain in Orange County, New York. The 1,664-foot (507 m) summit is located in the town of Blooming Grove, with other portions in Cornwall and Woodbury. The community of Mountain Lodge Park is built up its western slope. The mountain is a popular recreational resource in the area. While only the northeastern quadrant and summit are part of the recently created Schunnemunk State Park, some popular hiking trails and access routes have long crossed the privately owned lands elsewhere on the mountain. Conservationists hope that eventually the state will be able to acquire the whole mountain.

The Thomas McDowell House is located on Lake Road in the Little Britain section of the Town of New Windsor in Orange County, New York, United States. It was built c. 1770 by McDowell, an early settler of the area, and was later rented out by his descendants to prominent local weaver James Alexander. In 2004 it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. It is one of the last surviving homes built by the original Little Britain settlers, a mostly Irish group that had survived a difficult sea voyage to the New World, and the only one that remains mostly in its original form. Some later residents left behind reminders of the tastes of later eras.

The Mary Van Duzer-Sayer House is the main residence of a 154-acre (62 ha) former farm on Taylor Road near the hamlet of Mountainville in the Town of Cornwall, New York, United States. It is a stone Federal style house built in 1832. Mary Van Duzer was the granddaughter of Isaac Van Duzer, one of Cornwall's early settlers and landowners. The farm she built with her husband was the southern tip of her grandfather's original landholdings. It remained in her family until 1903. In 1996 it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP).

Brotherhood Winery is located in Washingtonville, New York. With its first commercial vintage produced in 1839, it is commonly acknowledged to be the oldest operating winery in the United States.: 5  In 2000 it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. The winery's slogan is "America's Oldest Winery".

New York's 18th congressional district is a congressional district for the United States House of Representatives that contains the northern suburbs and exurbs of New York City. It is currently represented by Democrat Pat Ryan. The 18th district includes all of Orange County, and most of Dutchess and Ulster Counties. The district includes the cities of Newburgh, Beacon, Kingston, and Poughkeepsie.In the August 23, 2022 Democratic Party primary Ulster County executive Pat Ryan defeated Aisha Mills and Moses Mugulusi. On the same date Ryan also defeated Dutchess County executive Marc Molinaro (Republican) in a special election to fill a vacant seat in the district. The latter contest was seen as a victory in a bellwether district. In the November 8, 2022 general election Ryan defeated New York State Assembly member Republican Colin Schmitt. Republican Molinaro ran in the New York's 19th congressional district in the November general election and defeated Democrat Josh Riley. Incumbent Sean Patrick Maloney changed his election district to the New York's 17th congressional district, after redistricting maps were announced.

The Samuel Brooks House is located on Pleasant Hill Road north of the hamlet of Mountainville in the Town of Cornwall, New York, United States. It is a cottage in a mix of Victorian architectural styles, most notably Carpenter Gothic and Stick Style, built around 1860. Its location, near Schunemunk Mountain, and architecture made it a desirable location for the summer boarders who made Cornwall a popular resort community in the late 19th century. It survives mostly intact today. In 1996 it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP).
