William Hawrelak Park

The Freewill Shakespeare Festival (known as the River City Shakespeare Festival from 1998–2009) is a Shakespeare festival in Edmonton, Alberta, produced by the Edmonton-based Free Will Players every summer from late-June to mid-July. Its performances take place in the 1,000-seat Heritage Amphitheater in Hawrelak Park. The Festival includes full-scale professional productions of two plays by William Shakespeare; as well as Camp Shakespeare, a summer drama camp for youth ages 8–16. Founded in 1989, the festival was renamed the Freewill Shakespeare Festival in 2008.Due to significant damage to Freewill's traditional venue at the Heritage Amphitheatre, the festival's 2014 season took place inside the Myer Horowitz Theatre in the University of Alberta's Students' Union Building (8900 114 Street).

The Edmonton Blues Festival (formerly Edmonton Labatt Blues Fest) is an annual blues music festival in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, which was first held in 1999. The festival runs for three days (a Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) in mid-August at the Heritage Amphitheatre in Hawrelak Park. In 2008, the festival was the recipient of the 'Keeping The Blues Alive Award' from the Blues Foundation, based in Memphis, Tennessee.

Interstellar Rodeo was an annual three-day outdoor music event held the last weekend of July in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, established in 2012 and held at the Heritage Amphitheatre within Hawrelak Park. From 2015 to 2017, Six Shooter Records also had an Interstellar Rodeo in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The final Edmonton Interstellar Rodeo was in 2019. The festival showcases performers from numerous genres. Notable performers to date include Blue Rodeo, Randy Newman and Hawksley Workman in 2012, and Alabama Shakes, Steve Earle and the Dukes, Sarah Harmer, Serena Ryder and Shout Out Out Out Out in 2013.

Groat Bridge is a bridge that spans the North Saskatchewan River in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It is a part of Groat Road. The bridge is composed of two spans that are side by side. The original structure was rehabilitated in 1990 and again in 2020. The 2020 $48 million rehabilitation saw the decks of both spans replaced one side at a time, with the new decks placed on the existing piers. The new decks feature an expanded shared-use path on the east side of the bridge (4.2 metres (14 ft) wide, compared to the original 2.4 metres (7.9 ft) wide sidewalk). Groat bridge connects the communities of River Valley Mayfair on the south end to River Valley Glenora on the north end.

Cross Cancer Institute is the comprehensive cancer centre for northern Alberta. The institute, named for Wallace Warren Cross, is located in Edmonton near the southwest corner of the University of Alberta, and is one of two tertiary cancer centres in the province. The Cross Cancer Institute is a lead centre for the province-wide prevention, research and treatment program. The centre provides inpatient and outpatient services for cancer patients, advanced medical and supportive cancer care, and patient and professional education. The Cross Cancer Institute conducts research through the Alberta Cancer Research Institute.The Department of Oncology, a branch of the University of Alberta's Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, is located at the Cross Cancer Institute. The department offers training in medical oncology, radiation oncology, palliative care medicine, and medical physics.

The National Research Council of Canada Nanotechnology Research Centre (formerly National Institute for Nanotechnology) is a research institution located on the University of Alberta main campus, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Its primary purpose is nanoscience research. The institute was established in 2001 as a partnership between the National Research Council of Canada, the University of Alberta, and the Government of Alberta. It is administered as an institute of the National Research Council of Canada (NRC), and governed by a Board of Trustees nominated by the partners. Its core funding comes from the Government of Canada and additional funding and research support comes from the university, Government of Alberta, and various federal and provincial funding agencies. In June 2006, the institute moved into its present 200,000 m2 (2,200,000 sq ft) facility, designed to be one of the world's largest buildings for nanotechnological research. There are at most two or three other facilities worldwide matching the new building in scale and capacity.In 2017, the institute became the Nanotechnology Research Centre, following a recognition of the institute as its own research centre. Although on the premises of the University of Alberta, the research centre is a branch of the National Research Council of Canada.

Clare Drake Arena is a 3,009-seat multi-purpose arena in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It is home to the University of Alberta Golden Bears and Pandas ice hockey teams and was named after former University of Alberta Golden Bears hockey coach, Clare Drake, who led the Golden Bears to 697 career wins.

The Universiade Pavilion, better known as the Butterdome, is a 5,500-seat multi-purpose arena in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, on the campus of the University of Alberta. It was built for the 1983 Summer Universiade. While the official name of the facility is the Universiade Pavilion, because of its rectangular shape and bright yellow exterior, locals quickly began referring to it as the Butterdome. Today, even the University of Alberta often uses this nickname to refer to this structure.The upper sections of the regular seating are permanently mounted, while the lower sections are collapsible to increase the space available on the floor. During the University Games, the capacity was increased to 11,000 using temporary bleachers. Facilities at the Pavilion include: 6-lane rubberized 200m indoor track (10-lane 60m sprint straightaway) 4 basketball/volleyball/tennis courts 4 badminton courts Long jump and pole vault Wrestling roomThe facility also hosts indoor soccer, flatball, and field hockey games.
