Tenafly, New Jersey

The Tenafly Nature Center is a non-profit member-supported nature preserve. Its mission is the stewardship of nearly 400 wooded acres for the purposes of conservation, education and recreation. It is located at 313 Hudson Avenue, Tenafly, New Jersey, in Bergen County. It sits on top of the Palisades, a rock formation in northeastern New Jersey overlooking the Hudson River. Within this natural tract are more than seven miles of trails, several streams, and Pfister's Pond. There is also a visitors' center with live animals, nature exhibits and a library for members. A Butterfly and Pollinator Garden showcases pollinator-attracting flowering plants. The forest is predominantly upland oak, with other deciduous trees and shrubs. In the spring, native wildflowers can be seen, such as trout lily; mayapple; spring beauty; and common blue violet, New Jersey’s state flower. Green frogs, bullfrogs, painted turtles, garter snakes and many species of migratory and native birds can be seen at the pond. Programs available to the public include guided hikes, making maple sugar, bird walks, and making apple cider. Tenafly Nature Center run's school programs for K-12 as well as summer and vacation camps, scout programs, birthday parties.

The Elizabeth Cady Stanton House in Tenafly, Bergen County, New Jersey, United States, is where Elizabeth Cady Stanton lived from 1868 to 1887, her most active years as a women's rights activist. She had previously lived in Seneca Falls, New York and Boston, Massachusetts.

Tenafly is a former railroad station located in Tenafly, Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. The station was a stop along Erie Railroad's suburban Northern Branch (NRRNJ) which terminated at Pavonia Terminal on the Hudson River. It stopped being used for passenger rail transport in 1966, by which time trains had been redirected to Hoboken Terminal. The rail line is still used for freight transport by CSX. The Northern Branch Corridor Project is a proposed New Jersey Transit project to extend the Hudson–Bergen Light Rail along the line, restoring service to the landmark and other stations along the route. In a non-binding referendum in January 2011, citizens of Tenafly rejected the idea of the town being the northern terminus of the project. The station was added to the National Register of Historic Places on January 25, 1979. The station building currently houses a restaurant.

Westervelt House is located in Tenafly, Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. The south wing of the house was built in 1745 by Roelof Westervelt whose grandfather purchased the property in 1695. The central section of the house was added in 1798 and later in 1825 the north wing was added. Ownership of the house remained in the hands of the Westervelt family until 1923. It serves as the oldest standing building in Tenafly. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 15, 1983.

The Peter Huyler House is located on what is known as the Captain John Huyler Homestead at 50 County Road between Palisades Avenue and Crest Drive North in Cresskill, Bergen County, New Jersey. In 1776, the property was part of a 180-acre (73 ha) farm which belonged to Loyalist John Ackerson or Eckerson. It was confiscated in 1779 because of Ackerson's loyalty to the British, and sold in 1784 to Captain John Huyler of the local militia. Huyler's son Peter built the main wing of the current house in 1836, according to the date stone over the door, with what was described by the Bergen County Stone House Survey as "some of the finest stonework in Bergen County". The outbuilding was most probably a summer kitchen, with quarters for slaves.Records show that by 1876, the site was owned by George Huyler, and in 1912 by his estate.The house was added to the New Jersey Register of Historic Places in 1980, and to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

Hudson Avenue (formerly known as Highwood) is a former railroad station between Hudson Avenue and Ivy Lane in Englewood, New Jersey. It was once served by the Erie Railroad's Northern Branch. By 1910 the station also served as the Highwood neighborhood of Englewood’s post office. The station is no longer standing. It was preceded by the Tenafly station (towards Nyack), and followed by the Englewood station (towards Jersey City).

The Demarest–Lyle House is located at 91 W. Clinton Avenue in the borough of Tenafly in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. The historic stone house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on January 10, 1983, for its significance in architecture. It was listed as part of the Early Stone Houses of Bergen County Multiple Property Submission (MPS). According to the nomination form, the house was built by a member of the Demarest family in the early 19th century based on architectural evidence. Charles Newcomb made changes to the house during the 1860s. His son-in-law, John S. Lyle, bought the house in 1912.

Tenafly High School is a four-year comprehensive community public high school in Tenafly in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States, serving students in ninth through twelfth grades as the lone secondary school of the Tenafly Public Schools. Students from the neighboring community of Alpine attend the school as part of a sending/receiving relationship with the Alpine Public School.As of the 2020–21 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,231 students and 104.6 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 11.8:1. There were 12 students (1.0% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 8 (0.6% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.
