United States Naval Training Center Bainbridge

USS Commodore (401B), also known as R.T.S. Commodore, was a landlocked "dummy" training ship of the United States Navy. Built to resemble a small escort ship, she was built at the United States Naval Training Center Bainbridge in Maryland. She was equipped with operational guns and equipment, except for an engine, to allow for the training of sailors in shipboard operations in a reasonably safe environment during the Second World War and the early Cold War era. Commodore was equipped with most of the facilities found on a real ship, including deck guns, a pilot house, davits with whaleboats, and mooring lines fastened to earth-bound bollards, so that recruits could even learn the proper casting off of hawsers and other lines connecting the ship to its dock. Her name "Commodore" referred to the namesake of the base, Commodore William Bainbridge. Due to her landlocked condition, Commodore was referred to by the cadets who trained aboard her as "The Never-Sail". (The same nickname, "USS Neversail," was also given to the landlocked training "ship" USS Recruit at Naval Training Center San Diego.) Commodore was dismantled when the base was closed in the 1970s.

Port Deposit is a town in Cecil County, Maryland, United States. It is located on the east bank of the Susquehanna River near its discharge into the Chesapeake Bay. The population was 653 at the 2010 census.

The Edward W. Haviland House is a historic home located at Port Deposit, Cecil County, Maryland, United States. It is a 2+1⁄2-story, 12-room, stuccoed frame building constructed in 1913 in the Dutch Colonial style. In 1926, a large frame double garage and carriage house was built to the rear of the main house. The house was designed by architect Charles J. McDowell.The Edward W. Haviland House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.

The Tome School is a private school in North East in Cecil County in the U.S. state of Maryland. Founded in 1894 by Jacob Tome, it is one of the oldest schools in Maryland. It enrolls grades K–12. As of 2022, the Head of School is Christine Szymanski.The school was founded as the Tome School for Boys in nearby Port Deposit. That campus, now owned by the Bainbridge Development Corporation, is no longer in operation and is closed to the public. Since the 2010s, several of its buildings have been damaged or destroyed by vandals, and the company has installed security cameras and taken other measures to keep trespassers off the property.

Hollywood Casino Perryville is a casino in Perryville, Maryland, owned by Gaming and Leisure Properties (GLP) and operated by Penn Entertainment. It was the first casino to open in the state on September 17, 2010. It has a gaming floor of 75,000 sq ft (7,000 m2), with over 1,500 slot machines. It also offers table games such as blackjack, craps, and roulette. There is a 10 table poker room near the casino's entrance. Hollywood Casino Perryville competes with casinos in Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Atlantic City. Penn National Gaming (now Penn Entertainment) purchased the casino's operating business from GLP in 2021 for $31 million, and leased the property from GLP for $7.8 million per year. Penn National bought the casino in hopes of entering the online betting market in Maryland, where voters had legalized sports betting in 2020.

Woodlawn is an unincorporated community of Cecil County, Maryland, situated 3.1 miles (5.0 km) northeast of Port Deposit.

Paw Paw Building, also known as Odd Fellows Hall, is a historic building located at Port Deposit, Cecil County, Maryland. It is a two-story, 36-by-40-foot (11 by 12 m), stone structure covered with plaster, that was built in 1821 by the First Methodist Episcopal congregation. It was used as a church until 1839. It was then used as a school called Heath of Health Academy and later Odd Fellows Academy. It later held a grocery store and "dining salon" until converted for use as an apartment and recreation hall.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.

Eastern Air Lines Flight 605 was a domestic flight in the US from Newark to Miami on May 30, 1947. The flight crashed near Bainbridge, Maryland, causing the deaths of all 53 passengers and crew on board in what was then the worst disaster in the history of North American commercial aviation.

The Millard E. Tydings Memorial Bridge carries Interstate 95 (I-95) over the Susquehanna River between Cecil County and Harford County, Maryland. The toll bridge carries 29 million vehicles annually. It is upstream from the Thomas J. Hatem Memorial Bridge, which carries the parallel U.S. Route 40 (US 40). The bridge is named for Millard Tydings (1890–1961), a longtime political figure in Maryland who served as U.S. Senator from 1927 to 1951. It was built between January 1962 and November 1963 between bluffs high above the river valley, and is posted with warning signs "Subject to Crosswinds." It was dedicated, along with the highway it carries, by U.S. president John F. Kennedy on November 14, eight days before he was assassinated in Dallas, Texas. The next year, the highway was renamed the John F. Kennedy Memorial Highway. It is one of eight toll facilities operated by the Maryland Transportation Authority. The toll, levied on northbound traffic only, is $8.00 for two-axle vehicles as of July 1, 2013; larger vehicles pay another $8 per additional axle. In March 2020, the remaining toll collectors were replaced with electronic tolling because of the COVID-19 pandemic, with tolls payable through E-ZPass or Video Tolling, which uses automatic license plate recognition. All-electronic tolling was made permanent in August 2020.The bridge was closed during Hurricane Sandy on October 30, 2012, perhaps the first time it was ever shut down.

St. Mark's Episcopal Church is a historic Episcopal church located at 175 St. Marks Church Road in Perryville, Cecil County, Maryland, and the parish church for Susquehanna Parish in the Diocese of Maryland. There are several 19th century burials in its cemetery including that of Maryland congressman George Gale
