Shide, Isle of Wight

Newport Roman Villa was a Romano-British farmhouse constructed in 280 AD. It is located near to Newport, Isle of Wight.

Shide railway station was at Shide, on the southern fringes of Newport, Isle of Wight, off the south coast of England. It was an intermediate station on the line from Newport to Sandown, which was initially operated by the Isle of Wight (Newport Junction) Railway (incorporated 1868).

The Church of St. John the Baptist, Newport is a parish church in the Church of England located in Newport, Isle of Wight. It is a Grade II listed building, the only surviving building by the British architect Robert Gunter Wetten (1804–1868).

Island Innovation Sixth Form Campus (or Island Innovation VI Form Campus) is a joint provision Sixth Form Center between Carisbrooke College and Medina College on the Isle of Wight. It is controlled by the Island Innovation Trust. It is located in the building previously occupied by Nodehill Middle School; the main building dates from 1904 and was originally built as the Seely Library and Technical Institute. Official lessons began on 12/09/2011. The Isle of Wight County Press reported on 09/09/2011 that the building work was behind schedule. This was subsequently denied by Island Innovation Trust.

Newport Pan Lane railway station, was, for four years, the temporary terminus of the Isle of Wight (Newport Junction) Railway incorporated in 1868. Opened on 11 August 1875 and closed 4 years later on 1 June 1879 when the line was extended northwards to link with the new Newport Station (and thus the "Ryde and Newport Railway"). Any trace of the station has long since gone and today the nearest landmark is an alleyway leading from the residential road called "Furlongs".

St Georges Park was an association football stadium in Newport on the Isle of Wight. It was home to Newport (IOW) F.C. and the Isle of Wight official football team, which represents Isle of Wight at the bi-annual island games. The record attendance at the stadium is 3,112 in a pre-season friendly match against Portsmouth F.C. in 2008. Newport IW FC left St Georges Park in 2018 Currently they have been ground sharing with other Isle of Wight teams; however, the club were due to be relocating to a new purpose built sports stadium 'Wightfibre Park' in August 2022. However, this never materialised. Plans for the new stadium consisted of a new club house and seated stand, capacity of 150, as well as three sheltered standing stands with a total capacity of 500 to 1000 people.

Newport bus station, on the Isle of Wight is located at Orchard Street in Newport town centre. Recent redevelopment has seen the former 1960s-built South Street bus station demolished, to make way for a new row of shops, and the current facility built behind that site. From April 2011, the bus station travel office has accommodated a 'Visitor Information' point, to serve as a replacement for the Tourist Information Centres, which were closed by the Isle of Wight Council to save money as a result of funding reductions from central government.

God's Providence House is a building in St Thomas' Square, Newport, Isle of Wight, England. It was constructed in red brick with a tiled roof in the late 17th century. The front facing St Thomas' Square is rendered and contains an 18th-century double bow window. Over the main door is a panel bearing the inscription "WIE "God's Providence is my inheritance", 1701". The structure is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building. During the 16th century the house was reputed to be the only house in the town in which there were no deaths from the plague. The building was damaged by fire in 1701, and was partly rebuilt. It is one of the oldest extant buildings in the town. As of 2012 the building is being used as a restaurant.

Sts Thomas Minster, Newport Minster or The Minster Church of Sts Thomas, until 2008 Sts Thomas Church, is civically recognised as the main Anglican church on the Isle of Wight. Unusually, it is dedicated to both Thomas Becket and Thomas the Apostle.

Saint Thomas of Canterbury church is a church serving the Catholic population of Newport, Isle of Wight, UK. It was the first purpose-built Catholic church constructed after the Protestant reformation on the island, and is reputedly also the first such church in England. The Roman Catholic Relief Act 1791 (31 Geo. 3. c. 32) placed restrictions on the design of Catholic places of worship. For this reason there is no steeple, bell, or anything else that makes the building look like a church building of the state religion, the Church of England. This makes the building look quite plain from the outside.

Newport Guildhall is a municipal structure in the High Street in Newport, Isle of Wight, England. The guildhall, which was the headquarters of Newport Borough Council, is a Grade II* listed building.
