Düsseldorf-Lohausen

District 5 (German: Stadtbezirk 5) is a northern borough of Düsseldorf, the state capital of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Düsseldorf's International Airport is located in the district. It is the largest district by land area, but also the least populated. The district covers an area of 50.75 square kilometres and (as of December 2020) has about 34,500 inhabitants.Stadtbezirk 5 borders with the Düsseldorf districts 1 and 6 to the South, and - via a shared border across the Rhine - district 4 to the South-West. To the West - also across the Rhine - it borders with Rhein-Kreis Neuss. Further it shares borders with the city of Duisburg to the North, and Kreis Mettmann to the East.

The Lena-Arena, also known as the airberlin world for sponsorship purposes, was Fortuna Düsseldorf's temporary stadium during the hosting of the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 at Fortuna's ESPRIT Arena.

The siege of Kaiserswerth (18 April – 15 June 1702), was a siege of the War of the Spanish Succession. Prussian and Dutch troops numbering 38,000 men and 215 artillery pieces and mortars under the command of Imperial Field Marshal Walrad, Prince of Nassau-Usingen, besieged and captured the small French fortress on the Lower Rhine, which the French had occupied without resistance the previous year. The Dutch regarded the capture of this fortification as more important than an advance into the French-held Spanish Netherlands.

Kaiserswerth is one of the oldest parts of the City of Düsseldorf. It is in the north of the city and next to the river Rhine. It houses the Kaiserwerth Deaconesses’ Institute where Florence Nightingale worked. Kaiserswerth has about 7,000 inhabitants and an area of 4.71 km2.

Merkur Spielarena (stylized as MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA), previously known as the Esprit Arena (until 2 August 2018), the LTU Arena (until June 2009), and as the Düsseldorf Arena (during the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest), is a multi-functional football stadium in Düsseldorf, Germany. The stadium holds 54,600 and has a retractable roof. Its special heating system allows the stadium to host comfortable events at the height of winter.

Von hier aus – Zwei Monate neue deutsche Kunst in Düsseldorf (Up from here – Two months of new German art in Düsseldorf) is the title of an art exhibition from 29 September 1984 to 2 December 1984. It was organised by the city of Düsseldorf and the Gesellschaft für aktuelle Kunst Düsseldorf e.V. and was curated by Kasper König.The exhibition showed the best of Contemporary German Art and wrote art history. The venue was Hall 13 of the Messe Düsseldorf, designed by the Austrian architect Hermann Czech. The green neon lettering used for the exhibition "Von hier aus" bore the handwriting of Joseph Beuys.

Merkur Spiel-Arena/Messe Nord station (German: U-Bahnhof Merkur Spiel-Arena/Messe Nord) is a surface-level rapid transit station in the city of Düsseldorf, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is part of the Düsseldorf Stadtbahn network and serves the Merkur Spiel-Arena.

The Rheinstadion was a multi-purpose stadium, in Düsseldorf, Germany. The stadium was built, near the Rhine, in 1926 and held 54,000 people at the end of its life. It was the home ground for Fortuna Düsseldorf from 1953 to 1970 and 1972–2002. It was used during the 1974 FIFA World Cup and 1988 European Championships. In 1995, the Rhein Fire, of the World League of American Football became tenants in their inaugural season. It hosted World Bowl '99 and World Bowl X. Metallica performed at the stadium during their Nowhere Else to Roam Tour on May 20, 1993, with The Cult & Suicidal Tendencies as their opening act. It was demolished in the summer of 2002, after the World Bowl X championship game, and has been replaced by the Merkur Spiel-Arena in 2004.

The drupa is the largest printing equipment exhibition in the world, held every four years by Messe Düsseldorf in Düsseldorf, Germany. The word drupa is a portmanteau of the German words druck und papier; print and paper respectively. Thousands of industry experts are usually present, and corporate representation typically includes companies such as Agfa Graphics, Océ N.V., Muller Martini, EIZO, Esko, Hewlett-Packard, Xeikon, Flint Group, Heidelberger Druckmaschinen, Manroland, Kern, Pitney Bowes, New Solution, Xerox, Kodak, Canon, Transeomedia, DirectSmile, Konica Minolta, Ricoh, Martin Automatic, Komori Corporation, Fujifilm, Siegwerk, Inspectron and Koenig & Bauer AG. Several new technologies are typically demonstrated during Drupa.

The Messe Düsseldorf is a trade fair ground and organizer, based in Düsseldorf, Germany. With a workforce of 1,459 employees worldwide (2006) and a total exhibition space of 306,000 m2 (of which 262,700 m2 is indoors) in Düsseldorf, the company is one of the largest in the industry. More than 40 annual fairs are staged at the premises in Düsseldorf, including 23 leading events in their respective sectors.

Stockum is an urban borough of Düsseldorf. It is located north of Unterrath and Golzheim, east of Kaiserswerth, west of Lohausen and the Düsseldorf Airport, south of Kalkum. Stockum has an area of 6.70 km² and 4,894 inhabitants. Stockum became a part of Düsseldorf in 1909. In 1971 the Düsseldorf Exhibition Center went to Stockum. It has 18 halls and an exhibition area of about 200,000 m². There is a huge park (Nordpark) in Stockum, too. In that park there is an aqua zoo and a Japanese garden. North of the exhibition center there is the new multifunctional sports arena of Düsseldorf, the Esprit Arena. Stockum belongs to the richest districts Düsseldorfs. The yearly average income lies at 60.697 Euro (stood 31. Dezember 2007).

The Aquazoo Löbbecke Museum unites Zoo, Natural History Museum and Aquarium in one institution under the administration of the city of Düsseldorf. It was opened in 1987 in the North Park under the name "Löbbecke-Museum + Aquazoo" (there have been precursor institutions on different locations in Düsseldorf though). On an area of ​​about 2000 square meters, around 500 animal species are exhibited in 25 themed rooms in aquariums, terrariums and a tropical hall. Moreover, the exhibition includes 1,400 natural history exhibits, models and interactive stations. With about 400.000 visitors per year, the Aquazoo Löbbecke Museum has been by far the most visited cultural institution in the city of Düsseldorf for many years. The name of the institution refers to Theodor Löbbecke who laid the foundation of the natural history collection by collecting sea shells. The collection is rich in type material for different mollusc species, such as the Angaria loebbeckei and Chicoreus loebbeckei.
