Hassendorf is a municipality in the district of Rotenburg, in Lower Saxony, Germany. Hassendorf belonged to the Prince-Bishopric of Verden, established in 1180. In 1648 the Prince-Bishopric was transformed into the Principality of Verden, which was first ruled in personal union by the Swedish Crown - interrupted by a Danish occupation (1712-1715) - and from 1715 on by the Hanoverian Crown. In 1807 the ephemeral Kingdom of Westphalia annexed the Principality, before France annexed it in 1810. In 1813 the Principality was restored to the Electorate of Hanover, which - after its upgrade to the Kingdom of Hanover in 1814 - incorporated the Principality in a real union and the Princely territory, including Hassendorf, became part of the new Stade Region, established in 1823.

Rotenburg an der Wümme (also known as Rotenburg (Wümme); Rotenburg in Hannover until May 1969; Northern Low Saxon: Rodenborg) is a town in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is the capital of the district of Rotenburg.

Rodau is a river of Lower Saxony, Germany. It is a left-hand tributary of the Wiedau. The Rodau rises near Hiddingen, a borough of Visselhövede, in the district of Rotenburg an der Wümme at the foot of a 50-metre-thick (160 ft) ridge of end moraine that falls away to the northwest and dates to the Drenthe stage of the Saale glaciation. The river then crosses the densely wooded and near-natural Rosebruch in the area of the Samtgemeinde Bothel and discharges into the Wiedau at Rotenburg an der Wümme, before the Wiedau in turn enters the Wümme after only 1.3 kilometres (0.81 mi). The Vissel joins the Rodau near Bothel. This stream rises in Visselhövede in one of the biggest springs in the Lower Saxon Plain and, at its mouth, carries around 25% more water than the Rodau, hence it is actually the main headstream of the Rodau.

The station is located on the Wanne-Eickel–Hamburg railway, Bremervörde–Walsrode railway and Verden–Rotenburg railway.
