BABY BRASA is an organic Peruvian group of restobars and catering service based in New York City, founded in 2016 by restaurateur, television personality and singer Franco Noriega. Baby Brasa is currently owned by Milan Kelez, who also serves as entertainment director and leads the front of the house at Baby Brasa. Milan Kelez is active on the New York social scene and is said to be capable of pulling in serious starpower. The two-story flagship location in the West Village serves contemporary Peruvian cuisine, fusion dishes, and signature cocktails. The West Village location is also an entertainment venue with weekly live music performances. The company's first location opened as a small eatery in the Lower East Side, later expanding to the West Village.

Rattlestick Theater is a non-profit off-Broadway theater based in the West Village, New York.

Mulry Square is a triangular parking lot at the southwest corner of Greenwich Avenue and Seventh Avenue South in Greenwich Village, Manhattan, New York City. It was once thought to be the site of a wedge-shaped diner that was the inspiration for Edward Hopper's famous painting Nighthawks. The parking lot's fencing supports Tiles for America, a September 11 memorial consisting of some 6,000 tiles created across the country. The square, which is owned by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, is named after Thomas M. Mulry, founder of the Emigrant Savings Bank and devoted Vincentian. In 2007, the square was considered as a site for a New York City Subway ventilation plant.

McCarthy Square is a park in Manhattan, New York, named after Bernard Joseph McCarthy. The park and its memorial flagstaff, known as the Bernard McCarthy World War II Memorial, were dedicated in June 1943.

Greenwich Avenue, formerly Greenwich Lane, is a southeast-northwest avenue located in the Greenwich Village neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City. It extends from the intersection of 6th Avenue and 8th Street at its southeast end to its northwestern end at 8th Avenue between 14th Street and 13th Street. It is sometimes confused with Greenwich Street. Construction of West Village Park, bounded by Greenwich Avenue, 7th Avenue, and 12th Street, began in 2016.

Semma is an Indian restaurant in New York City, United States. The restaurant, operated by Roni Mazumdar and Chintan Pandya and their hospitality group Unapologetic Foods, replaced their first collaborative restaurant, Rahi. The restaurant received a Michelin Star in 2022 and has received positive reviews from restaurant critics.

The Julius sip-in was a protest at the Julius Bar in New York City on April 21, 1966, to fight state laws which prevented businesses from serving homosexuals. The protest was organized by the Mattachine Society who were inspired by the sit-in movement. A resulting lawsuit at the New York State Supreme Court found that being gay was not indecent behavior and thus service could not be denied to an individual simply for being homosexual.

The New York City AIDS Memorial is a public memorial in Greenwich Village, Manhattan, New York City built "to honor New York City's 100,000+ men, women and children who have died from AIDS, and to commemorate and celebrate the efforts of the caregivers and activists." It is the first major space that is dedicated to the epidemic in New York City. The memorial was opened on World AIDS Day on December 1, 2016. The design was developed by the efforts of nearly 500 architects who came up with the idea of an 18-foot steel canopy as the gateway to the new St. Vincent's Hospital Park in Greenwich Village.

Julius' is a tavern in Manhattan's Greenwich Village neighborhood in New York City, located at 159 West 10th Street at Waverly Place. It is often called the oldest continuously operating gay bar in New York City. Its management, however, was actively unwilling to operate as such, and harassed gay customers until 1966. The April 1966 "Sip-In" at Julius, located a block northeast of the Stonewall Inn, established the right of gay people to be served in licensed premises in New York. This action helped clear the way for gay premises with state liquor licenses. Newspaper articles on the wall indicate it was the favorite bar of Tennessee Williams, Truman Capote and Rudolf Nureyev. In 2016, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Sweet Basil was a jazz club in New York City's Greenwich Village, located at 88 Seventh Avenue South. Founded in 1974 by Sharif Esmat, it was considered among the most prominent New York City jazz clubs of its day. Many jazz albums were recorded live at Sweet Basil, including Cecil Taylor's Iwontunwonsi, McCoy Tyner's Live at Sweet Basil (1989) and Solar: Live at Sweet Basil, and the Jean-Michel Pilc Trio's Together: Live at Sweet Basil. From 1981 to 1992, the club was owned by Phyllis Litoff and her husband Mel Litoff.The club closed in April 2001.

The Ninth Ward School disaster occurred on November 20, 1851, at Ward School No. 26 on Greenwich Street in New York City. While classes were in session, panic suddenly arose among the teachers and students about a possible fire in the building. A mass of students proceeded to flee down a staircase, causing the bannister to fail and the students to tumble into a large pile—reportedly 10 to 12 feet (3.0 to 3.7 m) deep—at the bottom of the staircase. Forty-three students died, mostly due to suffocation. An investigation determined that the students' escape had been slowed by inward-swinging exit doors and that the construction of the staircase bannister was insufficient to support to the weight of the students. While a coroner's jury found no fault in the accident, it recommended that all schools be built with fire-protected stairways and outward-opening exit doors.

Jack’s Stir Brew Coffee is a coffeehouse chain with seven locations in and around New York City. The first location, in the historic Greenwich Village on W. 10th Street, was opened by owner Jack Mazzola in 2003. It was the first Organic, Fair Trade, Shade-Grown coffeeshop in the city. The coffee is prepared using the house-created Stir Brew method. Jack's Stir Brew retails Organic Coffee and Vegan baked goods.
