Clark Reservation State Park is a state park in Onondaga County, New York. The park is in Jamesville, NY, in the Town of DeWitt, south of Syracuse. It was the site of a large waterfall formed by melting glacial ice at the end of the last Ice Age; the plunge basin at the base of the old falls is now a small lake. James Macfarlane described the area in 1879, "On approaching the lake from the turnpike on the south side, the tourist is startled at finding himself, without any notice, on the brink of a yawning gulf, precisely like that of the Niagara River below the Falls, and nearly as deep." Clark Reservation is also noted for its many ferns; it harbors the largest population in the U.S. of American hart's tongue, which is so rare that it was declared endangered in the U.S. in 1989.The park is 377 acres (153 ha) in size, and logs over 160,000 visitors per year. It encompasses the cliff, plunge basin and gorge of the ancient waterfall, and a number of secondary ravines and basins. Glacier Lake, which occupies the plunge basin of the former waterfall, is 6.2 acres (2.5 ha) in size and 52 feet (16 m) deep; it is a rare meromictic lake in which the deep waters don't mix annually with the surface waters. The surrounding limestone cliffs are 180 feet (55 m) high. Hiking trails skirt a half-ring of cliffs surrounding the lake, as well as traversing the rugged limestone over which the old river flowed. A Nature Center is operated by the Friends of Clark Reservation, a nonprofit organization staffed completely by volunteers. The Center has exhibits about the park's geology and natural history, and is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. In addition to staffing the Center, the Friends group also organizes events and retains a naturalist each summer to guide hikes and create nature programming for the public in the park. The park also offers fishing, hiking trails, picnic tables and pavilions, and a playground.

The Southwood Two-Teacher Schoolhouse is a historic school building located on Barker Hill Road just south of East Seneca Turnpike, in the Southwood neighborhood of the town of Onondaga, New York. Further east along the turnpike is the hamlet of Jamesville, New York. The two-teacher school was built in 1937–1938, and is a one-story, yellow brick Art Deco style building, but the ivy hides any architectural details that would show that. The rectangular building has a full concrete block basement and is topped by a flat roof. It remained in use as a school until 1966.: 5, 8 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.It now serves as a restaurant called "School and Vine."

Christian Brothers Academy (CBA) is a private Catholic college preparatory school in suburban Syracuse, New York run by the Brothers of the Christian Schools, founded by St. John Baptist de La Salle. Located within the Roman Catholic Diocese of Syracuse, the school has more than 750 students in grades seven through twelve. It was founded in 1900 by the Christian Brothers, who still run the school, though most of the teachers are laity. In 1960, it moved from its original site on Willow Street in downtown Syracuse to its current location in suburban Dewitt on Randall Road. CBA was a boys-only school until September 1987. CBA opened to girls after Syracuse's all-girls school, The Franciscan Academy, closed and many of those parents actively lobbied to have CBA accept female students. In 2019, CBA was named a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, one of 50 private schools nationally, and the only private school in New York State. CBA was also ranked as the No. 1 Catholic high school in all of Upstate New York by NYup.com.Niche.com ranks CBA as the #1 best Catholic High School in the Syracuse area.In the past 25 years, the school has captured State Championships in baseball, boys basketball, football, girls lacrosse (4 state titles), boys lacrosse, boys soccer, ice hockey and cross country. In addition, individuals have won State Titles in track and swimming.

The Saint Mark's Church in Jamesville, New York is a Gothic Revival-style church built in 1878. It no longer functions as a church, and instead houses the Jamesville Community Museum. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.The church occupies a prominent position in the center of the hamlet of Jamesville, at the corner of E. Seneca Turnpike and Apulia Road. The Seneca Turnpike was the first highway in the region.

Jamesville is a hamlet made up of the outskirts of five towns: DeWitt, LaFayette, Manlius, Pompey and Onondaga. Jamesville is located in Onondaga County, New York, United States, part of the greater Syracuse area.

South Campus is located approximately two miles South of Syracuse University's main campus (North Campus). It is home to around 2,500 students, about 50% of whom are Sophomore students. Students living on South Campus reside in apartments located across the campus. There are two-person and three-person variants of the apartments that students can choose to live in when selecting housing for the next academic year. Apartments consist of a kitchen, a shared bathroom, a common area, and two or three separate bedrooms depending on the number of people in the apartment. Within the bedrooms, there is a bed, a desk, and a wardrobe, which are the same amenities dorms on North Campus have. Additionally, there are single-person dorm-style rooms located in Skyhall 1, Skyhall 2, and Skyhall 3, which mimic normal dorm buildings. These buildings have a Resident Advisor on the floor, laundry on the floor, a trash room, and pod-style bathrooms, along with a common area just inside the entrance of the buildings.

The Dr. John Ives House is a Federal style house in the town of DeWitt, New York, on a hill overlooking the hamlet of Jamesville. It has a widow's walk on top. The original property included 630 acres (250 ha). Over the years the property was sold and divided amongst family members. It includes 3 contributing buildings—the house, a barn, and a smokehouse—over a 6 acres (2.4 ha) area.It was the home of John Ives, a Jamesville dentist.

The Manlius Pebble Hill School (MPH) is a non-sectarian, coeducational, independent, pre-K through 12 school in DeWitt, New York. The school is the result of a merger in 1970 between The Manlius School, founded in 1869; and the Pebble Hill School, established in 1926. MPH marked its 150th anniversary in 2019. MPH is accredited by the New York State Association of Independent Schools, of which it is a founding member; and is a member also of the National Association of Independent Schools.

Skytop is one of the 26 officially recognized neighborhoods of Syracuse, New York. It includes Syracuse University's South Campus.

WSKO (1260 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station in Syracuse, New York. It has a sports radio format and is owned by Cumulus Media with studios on James Street. "The Score" is the flagship station for all Syracuse Mets baseball games. In addition to carrying CBS Sports Radio, a local program is heard in late mornings, The Manchild Show with Jim Lurch and Paul Esden. By day, WSKO is powered at 5,000 watts non-directional. At night, to protect other stations on 1260 AM from interference, it switches to a directional antenna with a four-tower array. The transmitter is on Andrews Road in DeWitt, near Interstate 481.

William Nottingham High School is a public high school located at 3100 East Genesee Street in Syracuse, New York. Part of the Syracuse City School District, the high school has an enrollment of about 1350 students in grades 9–12. The school was established in 1921 (making it the oldest, still functioning high school in the city of Syracuse) in the building that is now T. Aaron Levy Middle School. It was named for the prominent Syracuse attorney William Nottingham (1853–1921), who had served on the Syracuse University Board of Trustees and on the New York State Board of Regents. In 1952 the high school moved to its current location on East Genesee Street. Between 1977 and 1982 a new library, gym, and Olympic-sized swimming pool were added, and a walkway was built connecting the former George Washington Elementary School to the main building.The school offers many sports, including football, cheer, tennis, swimming, lacrosse, volleyball, bowling, golf, basketball, indoor track, crew, track & field, cross country, baseball, softball, and soccer. However, several of the sports are combined with other local schools to form Syracuse and Syracuse East. The school offers many AP and Honors courses such as AP World History, AP Literature & Composition, AP Language & Composition, aAP United States History, AP Government & Politics, and AP Calculus AB. It also offers some courses in association with nearby colleges and universities such as Onondaga Community College, Syracuse University and SUNY ESF (Environmental Science and Forestry). The Syracuse University program is called Syracuse University Project Advanced (SUPA) and offers college level courses in biology, psychology, statistics, calculus, physics, sociology, English, finance, and entrepreneurship. Courses through SUNY ESF include Conservation Psychology, Public Speaking, Creative Writing, Global Environment, Economics, and Government. The school also offers pre-calculus through Onondaga Community College. In terms of academics, the school grades on a numerical scale out of 100. Weighted coursework includes class through AP, SUPA, SUNY ESF, PLTW, and OCC. The school traditionally announces a valedictorian and salutatorian halfway through the school year for the graduating class. Traditionally, the top 20 of the graduating class earn recognition upon graduation, with the valedictorian and salutatorian receiving medals and giving addresses. Graduation ceremonies have recently been held at Onondaga Community College’s SRC Arena. The school was the subject of the book The World We Created at Hamilton High, by Gerald Grant.
