Strath Haven High School

Nether Providence High School was a four-year public high school in Wallingford, Pennsylvania, United States, serving Nether Providence Township and the boroughs of Rose Valley and Moylan. The school merged with Swarthmore High School in 1983 to form Strath Haven High School, based at the second Nether Providence campus. Nether Providence High School was a part of the Wallingford-Swarthmore School District. Nether Providence High School was founded as a small, rural high school in 1924. However, population grew throughout the 1950s and 1960s, leading to additions in 1952 and 1963. The building was shared with Nether Providence Junior High School. In 1970, a new building was built right across the street. That building is currently home to the Strath Haven High School. After the 1983 SHS-NPHS merger, forming SHHS, the stone building became home to the Nether Providence Junior High School. In 1991, the building became home to the Strath Haven Middle School, housing 6th-8th grade students in the township, Rose Valley, Rutledge and Swarthmore. The 1970 building was renovated and expanded during the 1999-2000 school year, and from 2007-2010, the stone building underwent a series of renovations and additions. For the 2010-11 school year, the 1924 and 1963 buildings were demolished, the 1952 building was fully renovated, and a new addition was added housing classrooms.

Wallingford station is a SEPTA Regional Rail station in Wallingford, Pennsylvania. Located at Kershaw Road and Possum Hollow Road, it serves the Media/Wawa Line. In 2017, this station saw 280 boardings and 287 alightings on an average weekday. It is in Nether Providence Township.The station was established by the Pennsylvania Railroad. In 1855, when the rail line was extended to Media through Wallingford, passing and freight sidings were built at the location. The present station was built in 1890 (although some sources claim it was built in 1880). While the identity of the station's architect has not been proven, some secondary sources claim it was designed by architect Frank Furness. For a time, this station also served as Wallingford's post office.

Wallingford is an unincorporated community in Nether Providence Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, United States. Founded in 1687, it is named for Wallingford, England. In 2007, Wallingford was named by Money Magazine as the ninth best place to live in the United States; two other towns in the area made the top 15. Most locations in Nether Providence use Wallingford's ZIP code. It is west of Interstate 476, known locally as the Blue Route, and east of S. Providence Road, PA 252. Crum Creek forms the township's eastern border with the borough of Swarthmore. Wallingford lies north of Chester on the southwestern edge of the Philadelphia urban area. Wallingford is about 9 miles from Philadelphia. There is a dry cleaning shop and a post office. Various doctors, dentists, and lawyers are also located in Wallingford. About half a dozen churches and chapels of several denominations are located in Wallingford, including Wallingford Presbyterian Church, St. John Chrysostom Catholic Church on Providence Road and the Foundry Church, near Media Parkway. Wallingford is also home to Congregation Ohev Shalom, a conservative synagogue located at the corner of Rt. 252 and Rt. 320. The local school district is the Wallingford-Swarthmore School District, which serves Wallingford, Swarthmore, Rutledge, and parts of Media, Morton and Rose Valley. Wallingford is located along SEPTA's Media/Wawa Line, and has a station whose design is attributed to the well-known Victorian architect Frank Furness. Wallingford is about 30 minutes from center city Philadelphia by rail. Effective July 1, 2013, the one-way ticketed fares are $5.75 weekdays and $5.00 evenings and weekends. On-board cash fares are $7.00 at all times. The township's municipal offices are located at 214 Sykes Lane. The Thomas Leiper Estate, Westlawn and Wolley Stille are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Lindenshade (Wallingford, Pennsylvania) (1873, demolished 1940), was the Wallingford country house and farm of Shakespearean scholar Horace Howard Furness (1833–1912) and family. The house's design is attributed to his brother, architect Frank Furness. It was expanded numerous times, and demolished in 1940. Two other buildings from the property survive. The Helen Kate Furness Library, a memorial to HHF's wife, was built at the west end of the property in 1916.

"Westlawn", also known as the Charles Essig House, is an historic, American home that is located in Wallingford, Delaware County, Pennsylvania. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

Rose Valley is a small, historic borough in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, United States. Its area is 0.73 square miles (1.9 km2), and the population was 913 at the 2010 census. The area was settled by Quaker farmers in 1682, and later water mills along Ridley Creek drove manufacturing in the nineteenth century. In 1901, Rose Valley was founded as an Arts and Crafts community by architect Will Price, who bought 80 acres (320,000 m2) of land around the former Rose Valley textile mill. Price was a follower of Henry George's economics (Georgism). Price also co-founded Arden, Delaware, a utopian single tax community based on Henry George's economic model. Nevertheless, the Georgist single-tax ideal was never implemented in Rose Valley. Crafts works soon foundered, leaving a legacy of impressive architecture, a preserved landscape, and a regional theatre, the Hedgerow Theatre (founded in 1923), as well as an artistic community that includes writers, painters, and architects. As a former mayor said, "Rose Valley is an island of non-conformity." The Rose Valley Historic District, covering essentially all of the borough, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2010.

Pendle Hill is a Quaker study, retreat, and conference center located on a 24-acre (9.7 ha) campus in suburban Wallingford, Pennsylvania, near Philadelphia. It was named for the hill in Lancashire, England, that the first Quaker preacher described as the site of his calling to ministry. Founded in 1930, Pendle Hill offers programs open to people of all faiths. These programs include residential study programs, online and on-campus short-term courses and retreats, conference services, publications, leadership training, a walk-in bookstore, hybrid daily meeting for worship, dining services, and a bed and breakfast.

Hedgerow Theatre is a theatre company based in Rose Valley, Pennsylvania, near Philadelphia, founded in 1923. It was "for many years the only true U. S. professional repertory theater." The building is a contributing structure in the Rose Valley Historic District listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Thomas Leiper Estate, also known as Avondale, is an historic, American estate that is located in Wallingford in Nether Providence Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1971.

Nether Providence Township is a first class township in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, United States. Many residents refer to the township by the name of its largest community, Wallingford, because the Wallingford postal code is used for most of the township. The population of the township was 13,706 at the 2010 census.

Sproul Observatory was an astronomical observatory owned and operated by Swarthmore College. It was located in Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, United States, and named after William Cameron Sproul, the 27th Governor of Pennsylvania, who graduated from Swarthmore in 1891. The 24" telescope was moved from Sproul Observatory to Bentonville, Arkansas in July 2017.
