Causton Bluff is a cliff located in Chatham County, Georgia.The community was named after Thomas Causton, an aide to colonial governor James Oglethorpe. Variant names are "Caustens Bluff" and "Caustons Bluff".

The Oatland Island Wildlife Center is a 100-acre wildlife preserve and environmental education complex located on Oatland Island in Chatham County, Georgia, near Savannah. The island itself is one of the Sea Islands, which are barrier islands along the southeastern coast of the United States. Bounded by St. Augustine Creek to the north, the Wilmington River to the west, and Richardson Creek to the south, Oatland lies just north of Whitemarsh Island. It is home to over 150 animals and some 40 species native to the Georgia coast. Originally part of a cotton plantation, the island once held a retirement center for railroad workers and a hospital and laboratory for the U.S. Public Health Service. It was later transferred to the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System (SCCPSS) for use as an educational resource and learning facility. The wildlife center remains under the control and management of SCCPSS.

Whitemarsh Island (; WHIT-marsh) is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Chatham County, Georgia, United States. The population was 6,983 at the 2020 U.S census. It is part of the Savannah metropolitan statistical area. The communities of Whitemarsh Island are a relatively affluent suburb of Savannah.

Islands High School is a public high school located on Whitemarsh Island in unincorporated Chatham County, Georgia, United States, east of Savannah (with a Savannah postal address). The school is part of the Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools, and its basic attendance zone covers the urbanized Georgia barrier islands of Whitemarsh, Wilmington, Talahi, and Tybee. The school is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the Georgia Accrediting Commission. It is also home to the Savannah-Chatham school district's Scientific Research and Veterinary Science Specialty programs.

Greenwich Cemetery is a rural cemetery located on a scenic bluff of the Wilmington River, east of Savannah, Georgia. It stands on the site of the former Greenwich Plantation and became an addition to Bonaventure Cemetery (itself on the former grounds of Bonaventure Plantation) in 1933, and it is the newest of the city's four municipal cemeteries.The entrance to the cemetery, located at 330 Bonaventure Road, is shared with Bonaventure Cemetery. Immediately inside the gates is the large and ornate Gaston Tomb of William Gaston.

Greenwich Plantation (also known as Greenwich Place) was a plantation founded in colonial Savannah, Province of Georgia, in 1765, on land now occupied by Greenwich Cemetery. The site was 100 acres (0.40 km2), including a plantation house (completed in 1900) and private cemetery, located on the Wilmington River, about 3.5 miles (6 kilometres) east of the Savannah colony. It was located immediately to the north of (and on the same bluff as) Bonaventure Plantation, which existed until 1868 on land now occupied by Bonaventure Cemetery. Its mile-long driveway still exists to the left of Bonaventure's main gates.

CSS Georgia, also known as State of Georgia and Ladies' Ram, was an ironclad warship built in Savannah, Georgia in 1862 during the American Civil War. The Ladies' Gunboat Association raised $115,000 for her construction to defend the port city of Savannah.

Elba Island is an island in the Savannah River, near the US port city of Savannah, Georgia on the Atlantic Ocean. It functions as an import and export facility for liquefied natural gas. The island lies five miles downstream from the city of Savannah, and is part of Chatham County, Georgia. Its name comes from the Mediterranean island of Elba.In the early 1970s, the US energy company Sonat built an import and storage facility for liquefied natural gas (LNG) on the island. Another large project, completed in 2020, expanded the facility to liquefy and export natural gas. In that project, which cost about $2 billion, Kinder Morgan (a large US energy company) constructed ten liquefaction units.

The cemetery's prominence grew when it was featured in the 1994 novel Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil by John Berendt, and in the subsequent movie, directed by Clint Eastwood, based on the book. It is the largest of the city's municipal cemeteries, containing nearly 160 acres (0.65 km2).The entrance to the cemetery is located at 330 Bonaventure Road. Immediately inside the gates is the large and ornate tomb of William Gaston, a prominent Savannahian merchant.

The Gaston Tomb (also known as the Stranger's Tomb) is a tomb in Bonaventure Cemetery, Savannah, Georgia. It was built in memory of William Gaston, a prominent merchant in Savannah who died in 1837. The tomb was built seven years later, initially in Savannah's Colonial Park Cemetery. It was moved to Bonaventure in 1873. Standing immediately inside the cemetery's gates, one of the tomb's vaults was used as a temporary resting place for visitors to Savannah who died while in the city. It allowed time for the relatives of the deceased to make arrangements for their burial. Gaston, nicknamed The Perfect Host, was initially interred in New York Marble Cemetery in Manhattan, but was later removed to the tomb at the request of William Ker, Gaston's nephew.
