National Chiao Tung University

The Hsinchu Zoo (Chinese: 新竹市立動物園; pinyin: Xīnzhú Shìlì Dòngwùyuán) is a zoo in East District, Hsinchu City, Taiwan. Established in 1936, it is Taiwan's oldest zoo to continuously operate at the same location.

National Tsing Hua University (NTHU; Chinese: 國立清華大學; pinyin: Guólì Qīnghuá Dàxué) is a public research university in Hsinchu, Taiwan. National Tsing Hua University was first founded in Beijing. After the Chinese Civil War, the then-president of the university, Mei Yiqi, and other major academics fled to Taiwan with the retreating Nationalist government. In 1956, they reinstalled National Tsing Hua University in Hsinchu, Taiwan, which has since remained independent and distinct from Tsinghua University in Beijing. The university is part of a leading research and innovation cluster in Taiwan, along with nearby National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, National Space Organization, National Health Research Institutes, Industrial Technology Research Institute, National Synchrotron Radiation Research Center, National Center for High-Performance Computing, Taiwan Semiconductor Research Institute, and Industrial Technology Research Institute. The research cluster and its neighboring Hsinchu Science Park together play a key role in the global semiconductor industry. Today, there are 12 colleges or schools, 26 departments and 31 graduate institutes affiliated to NTHU. The college of Nuclear Science of NTHU is the sole educational and research institution focusing on the peaceful applications of nuclear power in Taiwan. NTHU is affiliated with National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, National Central University and National Chengchi University as part of the University System of Taiwan (UST).NTHU has educated a wide range of notable alumni, including Nobel Prize laureates Chen Ning Yang, Tsung-Dao Lee, and Yuan Tseh Lee.

East District (Chinese: 東區; pinyin: Dōng Qū) is a district in east Hsinchu City, Taiwan. It is the second largest of the three districts in Hsinchu City. The East District is home to the Hsinchu Science and Industrial Park.

The Glass Museum of Hsinchu City (traditional Chinese: 新竹市立玻璃工藝博物館; simplified Chinese: 新竹市立玻璃工艺博物馆; pinyin: Xīnzhú Shìlì Bōlí Gōngyì Bówùguǎn; Wade–Giles: Hsin1-chu2 Shih4-li4 Po1-li2 Kung1-i4 Po2-wu4-kuan3) is a museum of glass art in East District, Hsinchu City, Taiwan.

Hsinchu Kuang-Fu Senior High School, also shortened to Kuang-Fu High School, is a private comprehensive high school in Hsinchu, Taiwan. Founded in 1953, it is located in the city's East District, adjacent to National Tsing Hua University. It has a senior high school, a junior high school, a further education school, a vocational school, and a kindergarten. Kuang-Fu High School garnered international attention in late 2016, when students held a Nazi-themed parade to celebrate the school's anniversary. The incident was condemned by the Taiwanese government, as well as the Israeli and German missions to Taiwan.

The Hsinchu City Art Site of Railway Warehouse (traditional Chinese: 新竹市鐵道藝術村; simplified Chinese: 新竹市铁道艺术村; pinyin: Xīnzhú Shì Tiědào Yìshù Cūn) is a historical warehouse in East District, Hsinchu City, Taiwan.

The Ambassador Hotel Hsinchu (traditional Chinese: 新竹國賓大飯店; simplified Chinese: 新竹国宾大饭店; pinyin: Xīnzhú Guóbīn Dà Fàndiàn) is skyscraper hotel completed in 2001 in East District, Hsinchu, Taiwan. The architectural height of the building is 130 m (430 ft), with a floor area of 76,908 m2 (827,830 sq ft), and it comprises 24 floors above ground and four basement levels. When the building was completed in 2001, it was the tallest building in Hsinchu. It held the title for 15 years before being surpassed by CIWC Tower in 2016.

North Hsinchu (traditional Chinese: 北新竹車站; simplified Chinese: 北新竹车站; pinyin: Běi Xīnzhú Chēzhàn) is a railway station on the Taiwan Railways Administration West Coast line and Neiwan line located in East District, Hsinchu City, Taiwan.

The Aqueduct Museum of Hsinchu City (traditional Chinese: 新竹水道取水口展示館; simplified Chinese: 新竹水道取水口展示馆; pinyin: Xīnzhú Shuǐdào Qǔshuǐ Kǒu Zhǎnshìguǎn) is a museum in East District, Hsinchu City, Taiwan.

Hsinchu (Chinese: 新竹; pinyin: Xīnzhú; Wade–Giles: Hsin¹-chu²) is a railway station in East District, Hsinchu City, Taiwan served by Taiwan Railways Administration. Hsinchu Station is a major station on the West Coast line and the western terminus of the Neiwan line.

J.Piin Mall (Chinese: 晶品城購物廣場) is a shopping mall located in East District, Hsinchu City, Taiwan that opened on October 29, 2016. With a total floor area of 14,520 m2 (156,300 sq ft) and 13 floors above ground, the mall is located in close proximity to Hsinchu railway station. The 1st to 3rd floors house stores offering international sports brands, electronic products, and local cultural and creative industries. The 12th to 13th floors are a food court. The public square of the department store showcases some of the public artworks created by the Taiwanese artist Jimmy Liao.
