Davenport (provincial electoral district)

Davenport is a federal electoral district in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 1935.

Canadian Aeroplanes Ltd. was an aircraft manufacturing company located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada that built aircraft for the Royal Flying Corps Canada during the First World War. Formed on December 15, 1916, when the Imperial Munitions Board bought the Curtiss (Canada) aircraft operation in Toronto (opened in 1916 as Toronto Curtiss Aeroplanes) at a 6-acre facility at 1244 Dufferin Street south of Dupont Avenue in April 1917.The public company was run by Sir Frank Wilton Baillie, an industrialist and financier.Canadian Aeroplanes Ltd. manufactured the JN-4(Can) Canuck (1200), the Felixstowe F5L flying boat (30), and the Avro 504.The plant remained opened until after the Armistice and was sold to Columbia Graphophone Company Limited in 1919. After 1924 it was sold to Dodge Brothers Canada Limited as a car assembly plant till 1928.The industrial site was re-developed in the 1970s as the Galleria Shopping Centre and Wallace-Emerson Community Centre. The south side of the property is lined with homes.

The Galleria Shopping Centre (more commonly known as Galleria Mall) is a shopping centre located at Dufferin and Dupont streets in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. As it is in process of being demolished, only half of the building remains. The shopping centre was a single storey, enclosed (one of only three enclosed shopping centres in the former City of Toronto), and had approximately 50 tenants. It opened in 1972 and had an area of 21,124 m2 (227,380 sq ft). In August 2015 the mall was sold to Freed Developments and ELAD Canada. In September 2019, ELAD took control of the entire project. The site is now undergoing redevelopment.The stores that remain in the portion of the mall left standing include FreshCo supermarket (formerly Price Chopper), Rexall, Planet Fitness, TD Bank, and PetValu. For about two decades the mall was home to a Zellers discount department store. The standalone McDonald's immediately adjacent to Dufferin Street is actually an outparcel tenant of the centre; it will be demolished as well. Planet Fitness announced the opening of a 20,000-square-foot (1,900 m2) gym and fitness centre at the mall in December 2014. It was their first Canadian location.The mall had faced concerns over store closures, depressed footfall, and outdated decor with questions raised over its viability. Shari Kasman made two photobooks about the mall: “Galleria: The Mall That Time Forgot” (2018) and an abridged version called “Goodbye, Galleria” (2019).

Loretto College School (a.k.a Loretto College, or Loretto), formerly the Loretto Abbey Day School and Loretto Abbey Day School and College is a Catholic high school for young girls in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is operated by the Toronto Catholic District School Board, formerly the Metropolitan Separate School Board. The institution was founded by the Loretto Sisters (Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary) in 1915, whose founder (Blessed Mary Ward )advocated for excellent education for young women so that they might “do great things”. The name “college” refers to the school's association with Loretto College, a component of the University of St. Michael's College, part of the University of Toronto.

Wallace Emerson is a neighbourhood in Toronto, Ontario, Canada situated north of Bloor Street between Dufferin Street to the east, the CPR railway lines to the north and the CPR railway lines to the west. The neighbourhood derives its name from the intersection of Wallace Avenue and Emerson Avenue near the centre of the community.

Corso Italia is a neighbourhood in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, situated on St. Clair Avenue West, between Westmount Avenue (just east of Dufferin Street) and Lansdowne Avenue. It is contained within the larger city-recognized neighbourhood of Corso Italia-Davenport. The neighbourhood includes numerous cafés, clothing shops, shoe stores, restaurants, food markets, as well as several gelaterias and bakeries. The community is considered Toronto's second Italian ethnic enclave after Little Italy on College Street. There is also a significant Latin American and Portuguese community in the area.

Corso Italia-Davenport is a neighbourhood in central Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Its boundaries, according to the City of Toronto, are the CNR tracks to the west, Morrison Avenue to the north, Westmount Avenue to the east on the northern portion and Oakwood Avenue to the east on the southern portion, and on the south by Davenport Road. Within this official neighbourhood of the City of Toronto are several neighbourhoods, Corso Italia, Davenport, Earlscourt, and Regal Heights.

Dufferin is a subway station on Line 2 Bloor–Danforth of the Toronto subway in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is located at Dufferin Street just north of Bloor Street West. It opened in 1966 as part of the original segment of the subway line. Wi-Fi service is available at this station.
