Manchester station (signed as Manchester by the Sea) is an MBTA Commuter Rail Newburyport/Rockport Line station in Manchester-by-the-Sea, Massachusetts. The station is accessible, with mini-high platforms at the outbound end of the platform.

The Manchester Village Historic District encompasses the village center of the seaside town of Manchester-by-the-Sea, Massachusetts (formerly known as Manchester). It is stretched along Massachusetts Route 127, which runs in an arc around the northern part of Manchester Harbor, extending north on School and North Streets at the very center of the village. It is bounded on the western end roughly by Bennett Street and Ashland Avenue, and on the east by Beach Street. The village had its beginnings in the 17th century as a fishing and agrarian center, and its major roads were laid out by the late 18th century. The village was at its height in the first half of the 19th century as a fishing center, and it is from that time that most of its buildings date. Growth in the later 19th century was slower, as sea-related economic activity declined and cabinetmaking grew as a local industry.The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990. It then included 172 contributing buildings, two contributing structures, four contributing sites and three contributing objects. With non-contributing buildings, the district has a total of 212 buildings, of which 134 are residences, of which 89 were built before 1850.The oldest are 25 Bennett Street (before 1675), which was possibly built for Aaron Bennett and 3 North Street (c.1714), built for Benjamin Allen, an innholder. The district has 26 surviving Colonial and Georgian houses.: 5 The term village is an affectation that residents who have family that go back generations largely reject. Real estate agents use the term to artificially inflate demand and real estate prices.

The 36th Curtis Cup Match was played from June 11 to 13, 2010 at Essex County Club in Manchester-by-the-Sea, Massachusetts. The United States won 121⁄2 to 71⁄2. The Great Britain and Ireland team led 31⁄2 to 21⁄2 after the first day but the Americans won all 6 matches on the second day and, with the singles matches being shared, won comfortably. The Great Britain and Ireland team included 15-year-old twins, Lisa and Leona Maguire.

The 4th Curtis Cup Match was played on September 7 and 8, 1938 at the Essex County Club in Manchester-by-the-Sea, Massachusetts. The United States won 51⁄2 to 31⁄2. Britain had led by 2 points after the foursomes but America won 5 of the 6 singles to win the match.

The Manchester Athletic Club (also known as MAC) is an athletic club located in Manchester-by-the-Sea, Massachusetts with an entrance at 8 Atwater Avenue. The club has seven indoor tennis courts and five outdoor courts, including a stadium court and four courts which are bubbled during the winter months. The tennis academy is a USTA Certified Regional Training Center and has some of New England's best coaches. MAC also has a large, two-story gym with a variety of equipment, an indoor pool, an outdoor pool, a training turf, a field, an indoor sport court, and an outdoor sport court. It is close by to several running/walking trails and just minutes away from downtown Manchester-by-the-Sea. The athletic club offers individual tennis and fitness lessons, group tennis and fitness lessons, junior tennis academies and camps, junior fitness training camps and a Sports Performance Institute as well as a variety of junior summer camps.The Boston Lobsters Tennis Center, home of the Boston Lobsters of World TeamTennis from 2005 through 2015, is located on the club grounds. The stadium has a seating capacity of 1,634 people. On February 17, 2016, WTT announced that the Lobsters would cease operations.

Kragsyde (1883–85 – 1929) was a Shingle style mansion designed by the Boston architectural firm of Peabody & Stearns and built at Manchester-by-the-Sea, Massachusetts. Although long demolished, it is considered an icon of American architecture.

The Monoliths, formerly known as Agassiz Rock, is a 116-acre (47 ha) park in Manchester-by-the-Sea, Massachusetts, owned and maintained by The Trustees of Reservations. The park's name is from two examples of large glacial erratic boulders plucked from bedrock. As glaciers scoured this landscape, the mass of bedrock forming the hill proved more resistant than the surrounding soil, forcing the bottom of the glacier up and over the hill. The north side was smoothed and the south side left steep and rugged as the glacier broke off chunks of rock as it passed. Little Rock is a granite monolith on one of the trails. It rests on a small jagged stone, leaving an opening below. A short distance away, other boulders lie perched on the edge of this glaciated upland. Below, in a small shrub swamp, rests thirty-foot-tall Big Rock. Its depth is unknown.The trail to the site is a one-mile loop that passes both Big and Little rocks. Following long periods of rain the area surrounding Big Rock often floods.

USS New Hampshire was a 2,633-ton ship originally designed to be the 74-gun ship of the line Alabama, but after being laid down in June 1819, she remained on the stocks for nearly 40 years, well into the age of steam. Renamed as New Hampshire, she was launched as a storeship and depot ship for use during the American Civil War. She was later renamed as Granite State. The ship burned and sank in the Hudson River in May 1921, and after being refloated, again caught fire and sank under tow near Manchester-by-the-Sea, Massachusetts, in July 1922.

House Island is a small island on the outskirts of Manchester Harbor in Manchester-by-the-Sea, Massachusetts, United States. House Island is uninhabited; sources of the name are unconfirmed. The island has steep rocky sides and dense vegetation away inland from the steep cliffs that surround it. The island is covered in poison ivy and is not recommended for visitation. The steep cliffs of the island allow passing ships and lobstermen to come within as little as 20 feet (6.1 m) of the shoreline without running aground.

Brookwood School, founded in 1956, is a non-denominational, co-educational, non-profit day school in Manchester-by-the-Sea, Massachusetts. Sports such as field hockey, basketball, soccer, and lacrosse are offered. There are after school classes offered by teachers as well as visitors that include sewing, music classes, knitting, and clay.

Chubb Island is a small barren island located in Manchester Bay in Beverly, Massachusetts.History of the island remains largely unknown, though it is understood that the island received its name when explorers got a "chubb" upon seeing the island for the first time.

The North Shore landscape includes seaports, fishing villages, and rocky coastline dotted with marshes and wetlands, as well as beaches and natural harbors. Cape Ann is the largest promontory.
