The Imam Mahdi Islamic Education Center (IMIEC) of Baltimore is a mosque and Islamic education center in Baltimore County, Maryland, United States. It is located on 2406 Putty Hill Ave, Parkville, Maryland, 21234; the site was purchased in 2003 by donation of a local Muslim. It is a heavily fortified building, with no way in other than with a key. Unfortunately, it currently lacks any guards and the current owner of the mosque is unknown, though one can contact IMIEC leadership through their website. As with many American mosques, there is not a permanent sheikh only serving IMIEC. Learned community members, both male and female, give lectures when the sheikh is traveling. IMIEC is independently funded by community members, not by the Iranian government. The community is largely made up of Iranian immigrants though a variety of cultures and languages are represented. IMIEC began giving many lectures in English as the community grew. The Urdu-speaking community has historically held services at IMIEC on Thursday evenings, whereas the rest of the community attends on Friday evenings. Men and women sit in the same room for prayer and khutbah, separated by a curtain. Children are free to sit on either side. A large dinner is often served after evening services.

Taylor Heights is a neighborhood in northeast Baltimore. The neighborhood contains only a few homes because Parkwood Cemetery takes up much of the neighborhood. A major road in the neighborhood is Taylor Avenue, which runs from Overlea in the east to Towson in the west, at which point it becomes Goucher Boulevard/Hillen Road. The neighborhood is the most northeastern part of Baltimore.

W. E. B. Du Bois High School of Environmental Science (officially referred to as W. E. B. Du Bois High School) was a public high school located in northeast Baltimore, Maryland. The school was named after sociologist and civil-rights activist Dr. W. E. B. Du Bois. The school was situated in the former Northern High School and shared the structure with the Reginald F. Lewis High School. The school was closed in the summer of 2015 by Baltimore City Public Schools as part of its 21st Century Building project.

Achievement Academy, officially Achievement Academy at Harbor City High School, is a public alternative high school located in Baltimore, Maryland, United States. The school currently resides in the former Northern High School campus, at 2201 Pinewood Avenue. Achievement Academy is an alternative school program operated by Baltimore City Public Schools to serve students with severe academic and/or behavior issues. From 2010 until 2015, the school was located at 2555 Harford Road, inside of the former Harbor City High School. Beginning with the 2008 school year, Achievement Academy shared this space with Baltimore Antioch Diploma Plus High School, but this latter school was closed by Baltimore City Public Schools in 2014.It was reported in 2012 that BCPSS, then under the leadership of CEO Andres Alonso, was planning to close Achievement Academy as one of 26 closures citywide. Instead of closure however, the Board of School Commissioners voted to move the school to its current location within the Northern High School campus in 2015, replacing W.E.B. DuBois High School which had been closed there the previous summer. It now shares that building with Reginald F. Lewis High School.
