Covanta Hempstead is a waste-to-energy plant in Uniondale, New York operated by Covanta. It is the tallest structure in Nassau County, and the fourth largest power generation facility on Long Island by net energy generated. The original plant on the site opened in 1979 on land formerly part of Mitchel Air Force Base. It used an untested wet refuse-derived fuel process, and operated only for about a year before it was shut down due to mechanical failures, labor and payment disputes, unpleasant odors that could be smelled two miles (3.2 km) away, and concerns about toxic dioxin emissions. After the original operator defaulted on its bonds, the plant was sold, demolished, and rebuilt as a new plant using a traditional dry process, opening in 1989.

The Endo Pharmaceuticals Building, also known as “Endo Laboratories”, is a pharmaceutical plant designed by architect Paul Rudolph in 1962 in Garden City, New York, in the receding farmlands of Long Island. The “castle-like structure” was built to house the Endo Pharmaceuticals research, manufacturing and administration facilities. It still stands today as an example of post World War II American architecture in the Brutalist style.

Nassau Community College (NCC) is a public community college in Uniondale, New York. It was founded in 1959 and is part of the State University of New York.

WHPC (90.3 FM) is a non-commercial radio station licensed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to Garden City, New York. The station is owned and operated by Nassau Community College, and began broadcasting on October 27, 1972. WHPC was nominated for "Best College Radio Station" at the 2019 National Association of Broadcasters Marconi Awards, the only Community College radio station to receive the honor that year.WHPC won three awards at the 2018 Intercollegiate Broadcasting System awards: Best On-Air Schedule, Best Sports Report, and Best Training Manual.WHPC won five awards at the 2019 Intercollegiate Broadcasting System awards: Best Community College radio station in the NATION, Best Morning Show (for “The Nassau Morning Madhouse”), Best Artist/Celebrity Interview (Herb Alpert, interview by Michael Anthony), Best On-Air Schedule, and Best Public Affairs Show (Your Family's Health).WHPC won seven awards at the 2021 Intercollegiate Broadcasting System awards: Best Community College radio station in the NATION, the Abraham & Borst Best Overall College Radio Station, Best Morning Show (for “The Nassau Morning Madhouse”), Best Station ID, Best Underwriting Announcement, Best Use of Social Media, and Best College Radio Station Advisor (Shawn Novatt.)

Roosevelt Raceway was a race track located just outside the village of Westbury on Long Island, New York. Initially created as a venue for motor racing, it was converted to a ½-mile harness racing facility (the actual circumference was 100 feet shorter). The harness racing facility operated from September 2, 1940 until July 15, 1988. It was the original home of the Messenger Stakes, part of the Triple Crown of Harness Racing for Pacers. The raceway hosted the event until it closed. It was also the first track to use the now universal "mobile starting gate". The operation was sold in 1984 on the condition it was to remain an operating racetrack, but the facilities deteriorated, attendance dropped off, and the plant was no longer profitable. The site of Roosevelt Raceway is part of the Hempstead Plains, located in an unincorporated area of the Town of Hempstead, within the Westbury 11590 Zip Code. It is located near where the first English Governor of New York, Richard Nicolls, established the "Newmarket Course", the first horse racing track in North America (and the first organized sport of any kind) in the territory that would become the United States, in 1664.

John Raymond McGann (December 2, 1924 – January 29, 2002) was an American prelate of the Catholic Church. He served as bishop of the Diocese of Rockville Centre, in New York from 1976 to 2000. He previously served as an auxiliary bishop of the same diocese from 1970 to 1976.

The Cemetery of the Holy Rood is a Catholic cemetery located in Westbury, New York. The 65-acre (0.26 km2) cemetery, established in 1930, is part of the Catholic Diocese of Rockville Centre.

The 1926 PGA Championship was the ninth PGA Championship, held September 20–25 at Salisbury Golf Club on Long Island in East Meadow, New York. Then a match play championship, Walter Hagen defeated Leo Diegel 5 & 3 in the finals to win his third consecutive PGA Championship, his fourth overall, and the eighth of his eleven major titles. The victory ran Hagen's match record at the PGA Championship in the 1920s to 25–1 (.962), falling only to Gene Sarazen in 38 holes in the 1923 finals. With his third consecutive title, his winning streak stood at fifteen matches. Hagen was also the medalist in the 36-hole qualifier on Monday at 140 (−4). Through 2013, he remains the only winner of three consecutive PGA Championships. Hagen won the following year in 1927 for his fourth consecutive title, but Diegel stopped the streak in 1928 and repeated in 1929. In both years, Diegel defeated both Hagen and Gene Sarazen, the only winners of the title from 1921 through 1927, in the quarterfinals and semifinals. Hagen had previously stopped Diegel in the 1925 quarterfinals in 40 holes. Devereux Emmet designed the course in 1914. The 90-hole Salisbury Golf Club ran into financial difficulty during the 1930s and its land was acquired by Nassau County. Originally "Nassau County Park at Salisbury" in 1944, it was renamed Eisenhower Park in 1969. The 1926 venue presently exists as the Red Course.

East Garden City (also known as the Nassau Hub) is a hamlet and former census-designated place (CDP) in the northeast part of the Town of Hempstead, in the central part of Nassau County, on Long Island, in New York, United States, along the Hempstead/North Hempstead town line. The population was 6,208 at the 2010 census, when it was still listed as a CDP. Since then, it is now included in the Uniondale CDP. The hamlet is mostly a commercial and industrial area, and it also includes Nassau Community College – along with a portion of Hofstra University's north campus.

Nassau County International Cricket Stadium is a cricket stadium on the grounds of Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, New York, in Nassau County on Long Island. It is a modular stadium which serves as a temporary venue for the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup, during which it hosted eight group stage matches—including, most prominently, the India–Pakistan match. Following the tournament, the modular architecture will be removed while leaving the outfield intact as a legacy, and its natural grass drop-in pitch will be replaced by artificial turf. The venue will be overseen by T20 World Cup USA—the host committee representing matches hosted in the United States during the tournament. It is the world’s largest modular cricket stadium.

Eisenhower Park, formerly known as Salisbury Park, is a public park in East Meadow, New York bordered by Hempstead Turnpike on the south and Old Country Road on the north. At 930 acres (3.8 km2), it is larger than Central Park (in Manhattan, New York City), with much of the area devoted to three 18-hole golf courses, including the Red Course, host to the annual Commerce Bank Championship (Champions Tour). The park is home to the September 11th Memorial for residents of Nassau County.

The Nassau County Aquatics Center is an aquatic facility located at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, NY. It is considered the largest Olympic-sized single-tank pool in North America. At least 16 world records in swimming have been set in the facility. It was built in 1998 for the Goodwill Games. Since the Goodwill Games in 1998, it has hosted numerous swimming championships and high level competitions including the USA Swimming National Championship, NCAA National Championship, Big East Conference Championship and FINA World Cup. The center is 80,000 square feet with a 68m pool and three moveable bulkheads to accommodate SCM, SCY, and LCM competition. In 2002, Natalie Coughlin set multiple world records during the FINA World Cup at the center. In 2002 it was reported that the pool had lost millions of dollars. Dave Ferris was aquatics director in 2002, he reportedly questioned the reported losses, stating that "I don't believe expenses on the building are completely clear at this time". In 2011, the facility underwent a renovation after a 40lbs light fixture fell about 55 feet into the swimming pool. Since 2011 it had also been proposed to build an additional outdoor 50m pool adjacent to the existing facility.
