Valsesia

Balmuccia (Piedmontese: Balmucia) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Vercelli in the Italian region Piedmont, located about 90 kilometres (56 mi) northeast of Turin and about 60 kilometres (37 mi) northwest of Vercelli. It lies at the confluence of the stream Sermenza with the Sesia river. Balmuccia borders the following municipalities: Boccioleto, Cravagliana, Rossa, Scopa, and Vocca.

Cravagliana is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Vercelli in the Italian region Piedmont, located about 100 kilometres (62 mi) northeast of Turin and about 60 kilometres (37 mi) northwest of Vercelli. Cravagliana borders the following municipalities: Balmuccia, Cervatto, Fobello, Rimella, Rossa, Sabbia, Valstrona, Varallo Sesia, and Vocca.

Monte Barone is a mountain of the Alpi Biellesi, a sub-range of the Pennine Alps. Due to its isolation it offers a noteworthy point of view towards the Po plain and can be seen from quite a long distance away (i.e. from Turin).

Sabbia, Sabine is a frazione of Varallo in the Province of Vercelli in the Italian region Piedmont, located about 100 kilometres (62 mi) northeast of Turin and about 60 kilometres (37 mi) north of Vercelli. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 78 and an area of 14.5 square kilometres (5.6 sq mi).Sabbia borders the following municipalities: San Vigilio, Valstrona, and Varallo Sesia.

The Cavallero sanctuary (Italian santuario del Cavallero) devoted to Saint Mary of the Snow. It is set at 543 m height near the Sessera river in the municipality of Coggiola.

The Church of Our Lady of the Graces (Italian: Santa Maria delle Grazie) is a Gothic-style, Roman Catholic church in Varallo Sesia, province of Vercelli, region of Piedmont, Italy. The church was built, together with the adjacent Franciscan convent, by padre Bernardo Caimi between 1486 and 1493. At this time, the construction of the Sacro Monte was also beginning. In December 1931, Pope Pius XI gave the church the title of Minor Basilica.

The Sacred Mountain of Varallo (Italian: Sacro Monte di Varallo) is a Sacro Monte ("sacred mountain", a type of mountainside Christian devotional complex) overlooking the town of Varallo Sesia in the province of Vercelli, Piedmont, northern Italy. It is the oldest Sacro Monte, founded in 1491 by Franciscan friar Bernardino Caimi. It is built on a natural terrace on the rocky slopes of Monte Tre Croci ("three crosses mountain"), on the left bank of the Sesia river where it leaves Val Mastallone. It is 600 m above sea level, 150 m above the historic centre of Varallo.

The Sacro Monte di Varallo Natural Reserve, that includes the wood around the Sacro Monte di Varallo, was established in 1980 in the Piedmont region.

Varallo Sesia (Piedmontese: Varal), pronunciation (Vhuh-rahl-loh) commonly known as Varallo, is a comune and town in the province of Vercelli in the Piedmont region of Italy. It is situated in Valsesia, at 450 metres (1,480 ft) above sea level and some 66 kilometres (41 mi) north-northeast of Vercelli and 55 kilometres (34 mi) northwest of Novara. Once called Varade, it is divided in two boroughs (Varallo Vecchia and Varallo Nuova) by the Mastallone stream. In 1971, Varallo was awarded the Golden Medal for Military Valor for the deeds of its population against the German occupation in the late stages of World War II.

Varallo Sesia railway station (Italian: Stazione di Varallo Sesia) is the train station serving the comune of Varallo Sesia, in the Piedmont region, northwestern Italy. It is the junction terminus of the Novara–Varallo. The station is currently managed by Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI). However, the passenger building is managed by comune. The station is served only by historic trains, in the service of tourism, in planned dates. The service ordinary passengers has been suspended from 15 September 2014, by decision of the Piedmont Region. Train services are operated by Fondazione FS and Trenitalia. Each of these companies is a subsidiary of Ferrovie dello Stato (FS), Italy's state-owned rail company.
