Leeds Thomas Danby

Leeds College of Technology (formerly Kitson College) was a further education college in Leeds, in West Yorkshire, England. With a strong technical bias, the college supported the computing, engineering, social care and transport industries. In addition, the college was a national centre for print training and offered English language learning and teaching (ESOL). The Woodhouse Lane building was built in 1957 and opened in 1959, it was part of Leeds City College until June 2019 when the college closed after 60 years of activity and these facilities were moved to a brand new campus at Quarry Hill opposite the bus station. It was founded in 1824 as part of the Leeds Mechanics' Institute, and in 1868 the college became the Leeds Institute of Science, Art and Literature, then the Branch College of Engineering and Science. It was renamed Kitson College in 1967 in honour of James Kitson, 1st Baron Airedale, and then Leeds College of Technology. The college served more than 5,000 students each year. On 1 April 2009, Leeds College of Technology merged with Leeds Thomas Danby and the Park Lane College to form the new Leeds City College. The site on Cookridge Street was then known as the Technology Campus of the new college. On 26 January 2016 it was announced that the Health and Social Care services was to move to a new Quarry Hill campus then being built next to West Yorkshire Playhouse, now Leeds Playhouse. The whole building closed in July 2019 and was demolished during the summer of 2021 to make way for student lets. Work began on the Quarry Hill Campus in September 2016 and the building opened in July 2019. West Yorkshire Consortium of Colleges operated from Technology Campus until 2018.The Technology Campus has played its part in rock history. The Who's album Live at Leeds had two tracks re-recorded here and Pink Floyd's song "See Emily Play" was written here after a gig in the building when it was still known as Kitson College.

Sheepscar is an inner city district of Leeds in West Yorkshire England, lying to the north east of Leeds city centre. The district is in the City of Leeds Metropolitan Council. It is overlooked by the tower blocks of Little London and Lovell Park to the west, and gives way to Meanwood in the north-west, Chapeltown in the north-east and Burmantofts in the east. Clay Pit Lane runs through Sheepscar to the south, while Scott Hall Road makes up the eastern border. The area consists of complex road junctions, Penraevon Industrial Estate and a number of warehouses thanks to the impressive transport links attractive to haulage companies. There are a number of upmarket car showrooms such as Jaguar Land Rover and Volvo. The former public library building survives, and was the Leeds base for the West Yorkshire Archive Service, but closed some years ago. now a Games studio. Throughout the winter months, Sheepscar is notable for its large gasholder. This is completely invisible throughout the summer as its storage tank is below ground. The second and older spiral guided gasholder was removed some years ago. Sheepscar gasholder station is the only one in Leeds never to have been used as a Gas Works.

Northern School of Contemporary Dance (NSCD) is a higher education institution in Chapeltown, Leeds, England specialising in contemporary dance. Students can obtain undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in dance, validated by the University of Kent. A programme of adult, youth and children's classes is also available for the local community.

Chapeltown Barracks was a military installation in Chapeltown, Leeds, England, situated on the north and south sides of Barrack Road.

Chapeltown is a suburb of north-east Leeds, in West Yorkshire, England. It is part of the Leeds City Council Ward of Chapel Allerton. It is approximately one mile north of Leeds city centre.

Leeds College of Building in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England, is the only further education college in the UK which specialises in the construction industry. It was established in 1960 and currently has about 6,500 students. It has two campuses, the North Street campus and the South Bank campus.It has courses ranging from entry level through to degree, focussed on National Vocational Qualifications and Apprenticeships for occupations relevant to the construction and built environment sector. In 2018 they were awarded BTEC Apprenticeship Provider of the Year for their continued development of apprenticeships within the sector.

Mabgate is an inner city area of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England and the name of one of its streets. In Leeds City Council's Mabgate Development Framework (2007), "the area is bounded to the west by North Street; to the east by Macaulay Street; to the north by Mushroom Street and to the south by the New York Road". Mabgate, the street, continues for a short distance on the south side of New York Road (A64(M)). The area is in the Burmantofts and Richmond Hill ward of Leeds City Council. The area to the west of Regent Street is within the city centre boundary.The name comes from 'Mab', meaning a prostitute (16th to 19th century) and 'gate' meaning a street (common in Yorkshire street names).

Buslingthorpe is an area of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It is about one mile north of the city centre and currently falls within the Hyde Park and Woodhouse ward of the City of Leeds Council. Much of the housing in the area was demolished by slum clearance in the 1950s.

Little London is a residential area of Leeds in England, north of the city centre and Leeds Inner Ring Road. It is so called because in the 19th century it had fashionable housing and interesting architecture comparable to London. In the 1950s and '60s it became largely council housing and now consists of a mixture of high and low-rise flats and housing. The area falls within the Little London and Woodhouse ward of the City of Leeds Council. The area is divided into four estates; Lovell Park, Oatlands, Carlton and the Servias.

The Anglican Diocese of Leeds (previously also known as the Diocese of West Yorkshire and the Dales) is a diocese (administrative division) of the Church of England, in the Province of York. It is the largest diocese in England by area, comprising much of western Yorkshire: almost the whole of West Yorkshire, the western part of North Yorkshire, the town of Barnsley in South Yorkshire, and most of the parts of County Durham, Cumbria and Lancashire which lie within the historic boundaries of Yorkshire. It includes the cities of Leeds, Bradford, Wakefield and Ripon. It was created on 20 April 2014 following a review of the dioceses in Yorkshire and the dissolution of the dioceses of Bradford, Ripon and Leeds, and Wakefield. The diocese is led by the Anglican Bishop of Leeds and has three cathedrals of equal status: Ripon, Wakefield, and Bradford. There are five episcopal areas within the diocese, each led by an area bishop: Leeds, Ripon, Wakefield, Bradford and Huddersfield.

Lovell Park is an inner-city area of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. The area falls within the Hyde Park and Woodhouse ward of the Leeds Metropolitan Council. Lovell Park along with its adjacent areas Little London and Blenheim, is an area of 1960s high-rise and maisonette council housing situated between the city centre and Sheepscar. The Londoner Public House in Little London was demolished in 2007 and a new 25-storey tower block, the Opal Tower, has been constructed on its former site. The only pub now remaining in Lovell Park is The Leeds Rifleman. The estate has only one shop, Lovell Park Stores, an independent newsagent/ convenience store/ off-licence. There are further shops within five minutes walk in the Merrion Centre, other parts of Leeds city centre and other parts of Little London. In the 1990s the Leeds Permanent Building Society relocated its offices from what is now The Light in Leeds city centre, to a new building in Lovell Park. This now belongs to Lloyds Banking Group. Lovell Park Towers was used for the filming of Married Single Other. The site of Lovell Park itself was the site of a cattle market which dates back to before 1860.

St Patrick's Church is the name of two Roman Catholic Parish Churches in Leeds, West Yorkshire. The original church was built from 1889 to 1891, designed by John Kelly and is a Grade II listed building. It is situated on Rider Street, next to the New York Road and East Street Arts. In April 2001, St Patrick's Church moved to Torre Road. The original one closed and the new church opened the next day. The new St Patrick's Church is located on Torre Road in the east end of the city.
