Ames/ISU Ice Arena is an ice arena and recreational sport facility located in Ames, Iowa and owned and operated by Ames Parks & Rec Department and Iowa State University. The Ames / ISU Ice Arena is home to the Iowa State University Cyclones Men’s and Women's Hockey Teams, ISU Synchronized Skating Team. The ISU Men's Hockey Team competes at the ACHA Division I level in the Central States Collegiate Hockey League, in addition an auxiliary team competes at the ACHA D II level as members of the North Central Collegiate Hockey Association. ISU Women's Hockey competes as an independent team in the ACHA Women's Division II level. In addition the arena is used by several local high school ice hockey teams(including the hosting of the MHSHL Championship Tournament each spring), youth, and adult rec. ice hockey leagues, Ames Figure Skating Club, and Iowa State intramural activities, as well as public skating.

Cap Timm Field is a ballpark located in Ames, Iowa and has been the home of the Iowa State Cyclones baseball program for four decades, a span that includes its time as both a varsity intercollegiate sport and a club sport. The ballpark is named after former Cyclones baseball coach Cap Timm.

The Gilmour B. and Edith Craig MacDonald House is a historic building located in Ames, Iowa, United States. It is significant for its association with G.B. MacDonald, a leading figure in the Conservation Movement in Iowa, and as a fine example of American Craftsman architecture in Ames. MacDonald was a professor of forestry at Iowa State College, later renamed Iowa State University, from 1910 until his death in 1960. He also served as Deputy State Forester from 1918 to 1935, and as the State Forester from 1935 to 1957. He played a leading role in both forestry and soil conservation, and was an advocate for the relationship between forestry and soil erosion and farming. As Iowa's director of the Emergency Conservation Work program, MacDonald oversaw the Civilian Conservation Corps camps in the 1930s, all which were involved with reforestation or soil erosion control work at one time or another. Des Moines architect Robert G. McDowell designed the bungalow, which was completed in 1916. Appropriately, it is located on a wooded lot. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.

The Sigma Sigma–Delta Chi Fraternity House, also known as the Iowa House, is a historic building in Ames, Iowa, United States. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.It is a large 21⁄2-story brick structure built in 1924. The building is capped with a hip roof that is intersected by steeply-pitched gables at a lower level. There are also wide eaves with exposed beams. A porte-cochère is located on the north side of the building, which is unique feature among the historic fraternity and sorority houses associated with Iowa State University. Architecturally, it is a combination of the American Craftsman, Tudor Revival, and classical features. Sigma Sigma was a local fraternity founded in either 1907 or 1908 at what was then called Iowa State College. They grew in size and sought to become a national fraternity beginning in the 1920s. The effort went dormant while they built this building, but they took it up again in the 1930s. They reached nationalization in 1933 when they merged with Delta Chi. The fraternity remained active at ISU until 2001 when membership declined significantly and it became inactive. Delta Chi sold the building in 2006 and it was converted into a bed and breakfast.

Jack Trice Stadium (originally Cyclone Stadium and formerly Jack Trice Field, sometimes referred to as "the Jack") is a stadium located in Ames, Iowa, United States, which is the first major college stadium named for a black man. Primarily used for college football, it is the home field of the Iowa State Cyclones. It is named in honor of Jack Trice, Iowa State's first African American athlete, who died of injuries sustained during a 1923 game against Minnesota. The stadium opened on September 20, 1975, with a 17–12 win over Air Force. It is the third-largest stadium by capacity in the Big 12 Conference behind Darrell K. Royal — Texas Memorial Stadium and Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, and the third-newest in the conference, behind only Milan Puskar Stadium of West Virginia (which had its design based on Jack Trice Stadium) and Baylor's McLane Stadium. Including hillside seats in the corners of the stadium, the facility's official capacity is 61,500. The school announced in May 2014 a planned expansion to 61,500.The current record for single-game attendance, 61,500, was set on September 5, 2015, when the Cyclones defeated the University of Northern Iowa 31–7. Jack Trice Stadium replaced Clyde Williams Field, which had been in use from 1914 through 1974. Williams Field was closed in 1975 and razed in 1978, and Martin and Eaton residence halls now stand on the ground.

The Colonials Club House, also known as the Beta Deuteron Charge House of Theta Delta Chi, is a historic building located in Ames, Iowa, United States. The significance of this building is its role in the development of the city's Fourth Ward. Prior to its construction in 1910, off campus student housing was clustered on the west side of the Iowa State College (now Iowa State University campus. This building opened up the southeast side of the campus, and it became the preferred location for new fraternity and sorority residences. It was also a change in how those residences were designed. Prior fraternity and sorority houses in Ames were frame, vernacular, single-family dwellings. Designed by the Des Moines architectural firm of Proudfoot & Bird, this 2½-brick structure features the Colonial Revival style, which became one of the prominent styles for fraternity and sorority houses associated with the university.The original main block of the building was built for a local fraternity “The Colonials” (or the “Colonial Club”). In 1920 they became a local chapter of the national fraternity Theta Delta Chi, and the building was expanded. Another addition was constructed in 1966. It was designed by the Des Moines architectural firm of Woodburn & O’Neil. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012.

Cranford Apartment Building is a historic building located in the Campustown section of Ames, Iowa, United States. The 4½-story brick structure was completed in 1922 as a residence for single women who were on the faculty at Iowa State College as well as other professional women. Prior to this building's completion, female faculty members often had a difficult time finding a place to live in Ames. Its construction was funded by the Faculty Women's Housing Company. The building was designed by Alda Wilson, who earned a bachelor's degree from Iowa State. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2023.

Iowa Beta Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon is a historic building in Ames, Iowa, United States. It is a large four-story brick structure that was built in 1931 for the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity at Iowa State College (now Iowa State University). It was designed by Des Moines architect Amos B. Emery. It is the only Tudor Revival style building designed by Emory, and only one of two fraternity houses that he designed. The building features ornamental half-timbering and stucco veneered walls, a steeply pitched roof with two separate cross-gabled sections, and a two-story wing that is oriented diagonally from the main body of the house. Three of the four-floors are above grade and one is exposed on the back side via the sloping lot. The Iowa Beta chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon was chartered on April 20, 1916. It was the fraternity's fortieth local chapter. During World War II, part of the building was rented to female students as many male students left to join the military. A fire damaged the third floor in 1943. In 1952, the kitchen and the house mother's quarters were expanded. Journalist Robert L. Bartley resided here until his graduation from Iowa State in 1959. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.
