Ness Islands

Bught Park (Gaelic: Pàirc nam Bochd ) is the largest park in the city of Inverness, Scotland, and is situated on the western bank of the River Ness. It is home to the Inverness Highland Games and a small scale outdoor music festival. It is located next to the city's sports centre, swimming pool and BMX track. The Bught Park is also the name for the sports stadium situated within the confines of the park which regularly hosts both the Camanachd Cup Final and the Composite Rules Shinty/Hurling Internationals and is considered one of the finest parks in shinty. It is also home to Inverness Shinty Club who have played there since the 1920s. The park is situated on land that was formerly the Bught House estate. An 18th century stately home on the site was demolished for the creation of the Ice Centre in the 1960s. The capacity of the stadium is 5000, comprising standing and the wooden grandstand. The stadium was the centre of controversy in June 2009 when Highland Council, having evicted Inverness City from the Northern Meeting Park offered the use of the facility to the football team without consulting with the shinty club.

The Bught ( BUKHT; Scottish Gaelic: Am Bucht) is an area of the Scottish city of Inverness. A "bught" is defined in the Dictionary of the Scots Language as follows "Bowcht, Bucht, n. Also: boucht; bowght, bought. [Flem. bocht, bucht, inclosure for swine, sheep, etc.] A sheep-fold; a milking fold for ewes." It is situated between the River Ness and the Caledonian Canal in the west of the city. It is a recreational area and contains the sports ground Bught Park, Inverness Sports Centre & Aquadome, Inverness Ice Rink, Whin Park and the Ness Islands. There is also a caravan park and extensive playing fields in the area. The sports fields are used as the home grounds for Inverness Blitz American football home games. Due to the recreational nature of the area, there is very little housing and most people live in the nearby areas of Dalneigh and Ballifeary.

The Ness Islands Railway is a 7+1⁄4 in (184 mm) gauge miniature railway in Inverness, Scotland, opened in 1983.

The Royal Northern Infirmary was a health facility in Ness Walk, Inverness, Scotland. The site remains the home of a small facility, known as the RNI Community Hospital, which was built in the grounds of the old hospital and is managed by NHS Highland.

Ballifeary (; Scottish Gaelic: Baile na Faire) is district of Inverness, Scotland. It is situated a half-mile (1 km) south southwest of the town centre. The B-listed Ballifeary House on Ness Walk dates from the mid-19th century, but has been a care home run by the Free Presbyterian Church of Scotland since 1964. Bught Park lies immediately to the south.

Eden Court Theatre (Scottish Gaelic: Cùirt an Easbaig) is a large theatre, cinema and arts venue situated in Inverness, Scotland close to the banks of the River Ness. The theatre has recently undergone a complete refurbishment and major extension, adding a second theatre, two dedicated cinema screens, two performance/dance studios, improved dressing room and green room facilities and additional office space. The theatre's restaurant and bar facilities have also been totally overhauled and improved.

Lochardil (/lɒx ardɪl/) (from the Scottish Gaelic: Loch Àrdail meaning the Church Lake) is a residential area in the West of Inverness. The area has an abundance of green spaces, notably MacDonald Park and Lochardil Woods. The local school is Lochardil Primary, with most secondary age pupils attending Inverness Royal Academy. There is a pharmacy, a hairdresser and the Best Western Lochardil House Hotel. There are post boxes on Stratherrick Road and Morven Road. As is the case in the rest of the City, a bus service is provided by Stagecoach Highlands who took over the route from Rapsons' in 2008 (Inverness Courier, 2008) Buses to the city centre run approximately every 30 minutes Monday to Friday, with a reduced timetable in place at weekends.

The politics of the Highland council area in Scotland are evident in the deliberations and decisions of the Highland Council, in elections to the council, and in elections to the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom (Westminster) and the Scottish Parliament (Holyrood). In the European Parliament the area was within the Scotland constituency, which covers all of the 32 council areas of Scotland.

The Highland Council Headquarters, formerly County Buildings, is a municipal structure in Glenurquhart Road, Inverness, Highland, Scotland. The oldest part of the complex, which currently serves as the headquarters of The Highland Council, is a Category C listed building.

Holm is a small residential area in the south of the city of Inverness, Scotland. The area lies east of the River Ness. The most prominent structure in the vicinity is the Holm Mills. The mill is known for its contribution to the Caledonian Canal, by weaving a cloth to prevent the embankments from leaking. Until recently, tartan was still being woven in the original building. The premises are now a shop and visitor centre. A building occupied by Dick Precast Concrete is situated slightly south of Holm Mills. Additionally a large electrical substation is sited on Dores Road and this facility serves most of Inverness.

Inverness Cathedral (Scottish Gaelic: Cathair-Eaglais Inbhir Nis), also known as the Cathedral Church of Saint Andrew (1866–69), is a cathedral of the Scottish Episcopal Church situated in the city of Inverness in Scotland close to the banks of the River Ness. It is the seat of the Bishop of Moray, Ross and Caithness, ordinary of the Diocese of Moray, Ross and Caithness. The cathedral is the northernmost extant diocesan cathedral in mainland Britain - Dornoch Cathedral, Fortrose Cathedral and Elgin Cathedral are no longer acting as diocesan cathedrals. It was the first new Protestant cathedral to be completed in Great Britain since the Reformation.

The Diocese of Moray, Ross and Caithness is one of the seven dioceses of the Scottish Episcopal Church. It covers Caithness and Sutherland (the old Diocese of Caithness), mainland Ross and Cromarty (the old Diocese of Ross), and mainland Inverness-shire, Nairnshire, Moray and Banffshire (the old Diocese of Moray). The diocesan centre is St Andrew's Cathedral in Inverness. The see is currently occupied by Mark Strange.
