Novi Petrivtsi (Ukrainian: Нові Петрівці) is a large village located just north of Kyiv, in Vyshhorod Raion, Kyiv Oblast, Ukraine. Today it is the administrative seat of the Petrivtsi rural hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. Just outside the village lies the Mezhyhirya Residence, the former private residence of ousted Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and epicenter of a corruption scandal during his time as prime minister. After Yanukovych fled Ukraine in the wake of the Revolution of Dignity, the complex was converted into a museum. Yanukovych was last seen publicly in the village of Novi Petrivsi before he disappeared from Ukraine around 2:00am on 22 February, 2014, when local residents heard helicopters take off and saw two armored personnel carriers leave the area. A water reservoir of the Kyiv Hydro-Accumulating Power Station is located to the south of Novi Petrivtsi. Further south lies the city of Vyshhorod, which is adjacent to Kyiv. A training facility of the Internal Troops of Ukraine is also located near the village. It is currently being used to train new recruits for the National Guard of Ukraine. On March 16, 2022 an apartment in Novi Petrivtsi was hit by a Russian airstrike, causing the structure to collapse. A two-year old boy was trapped under the debris and died soon after being rescued.

The Mezhyhirya Savior-Transfiguration Monastery (Ukrainian: Межигірський Спасо-Преображенський монастир, romanized: Mezhyhirskyi Spaso-Preobrazhenskyi Monastyr) was an Eastern Orthodox female monastery that was located in the neighborhood of Mezhyhiria outside of the Vyshhorod city limits. The monastery was located just 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) to the north of Vyshhorod. Today, the territory is part of the Vyshhorod Raion, Kyiv Oblast (province) in northern Ukraine. The location is situated in the Mezhyhirya ravine, on the right bank of the Dnieper River in close proximity to the Kyiv Reservoir. It is unknown when the monastery was founded, although several different legends and stories about its founding exist. At the time of its height, the Mezhyhirya Monastery was considered a spiritual center of the Kievan Rus' royal Rurikid house, and later the Cossack Hetmanate. As an important monastery of the Zaporozhian Host, the Mezhyhirya Monastery left a rich legacy behind it. The monastery was mentioned in one of Taras Shevchenko's poems, "Chernets," written in 1847, and was the subject of a drawing by him. Nikolai Gogol's novel, "Taras Bulba," published in 1835, also mentions the monastery. Throughout its existence, it was destroyed, and then restored numerous times, until it was demolished by Soviet authorities in 1935. Currently, the area of the former monastery is located on a fenced-in woodland territory next to Novi Petrivtsi village and is now a museum.

The National Museum-Reserve of Ukrainian Military Achievements, is a museum reserve dedicated to Ukrainian military achievements. The museum is located on the outskirts of the village of Novi Petrivtsi, Vyshhorod Raion of Kyiv Oblast, Ukraine. The curator of the museum is the Ministry of Culture of the Kyiv Regional State Administration. The current museum director is Ivan Petrovich Vìkovan. The Museum was created by the Council of People's Commissars of Ukraine and the Central Committee of VKP (b) as the Museum-Reserve "Battle for Kyiv 1943" on March 20, 1945. In 2008, the museum was granted national status. On 9 June 2023, at the initiative of the museum, Kyiv Regional Council renamed it the National Museum-Reserve of Ukrainian military achievements. To date, the museum has been visited by more than 10 million people from 85 countries of the world. The museum maintains stationary and mobile exhibitions.

The Mezhyhirya Residence (Ukrainian: Межигір'я, romanized: Mezhyhiria, pronounced [meʒɪˈɦirjɐ]) is an estate in Ukraine where Viktor Yanukovych lived when he was Prime Minister and then President of Ukraine and is now a museum displaying Yanukovych's luxurious lifestyle. Yanukovych lived in the estate from 2002, when he first became Prime Minister, to 21 February 2014, when he fled the country during the Revolution of Dignity. The estate was founded as a monastery that functioned off-and-on until closed in 1923 by the Bolsheviks following the establishment of the Soviet Union. From 1935 Mezhyhirya was a state government residence, first under the Communist Party of the Soviet Union and then under an independent Ukraine, until 2007 when it was privatized in the final weeks of Yanukovych’s leadership as Prime Minister. This privatization has been alleged as having been illegal, with no money being reported as being paid to the state for its sale. In 2012, the State Administration of Affairs rented a space from Tantalit for ₴99,691 per year, arranging it for official receptions. In 2014, it returned to state ownership. In 2010, Yanukovych claimed the lease of 1 ha (2.5 acres) in Mezhyhirya cost ₴314 per month (2010) which was about $39.57 according to the exchange rate at the time. Another luxurious residence was under construction near Cape Aya in Crimea at the time Yanukovych was ousted from office. The residence was popularly known as “Mezhyhirya 2”.

Stari Petrivtsi (Ukrainian: Старі Петрівці; Russian: Старые Петровцы) is a village in Vyshhorod Raion (district) in Kyiv Oblast of Ukraine, at about 23.28 kilometres (14.47 mi) northwest by north (NWbN) from the centre of Kyiv, on the right (western) bank of the Dnipro river. It belongs to Petrivtsi rural hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. The village suffered damages during a Russian missile attack in June 2023, during the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The Kyiv Pumped-Storage Power Plant (Ukrainian: Ки́ївська гідроакумулювальна електростанція) is a pumped-storage power station on the west bank of the Kyiv Reservoir in Vyshhorod, Ukraine. The Kyiv Reservoir serves as the lower reservoir and the upper reservoir is located 70 m (230 ft) above the lower. Water sent from the upper reservoir generates electricity with three 33.3 megawatts (44,700 hp) conventional hydroelectric generators and three 45 megawatts (60,000 hp) reversible pump generators. During periods of low demand, such as nighttime, the pump generators push water from the lower reservoir to the upper for use during peak hours. The first generator was commissioned in 1970, and the last in 1972.

VyshHora (Ukrainian: ВишГора) is a ski complex close to Kyiv (also known as Fedot Hill) in Vyshhorod, Ukraine. It is a former luge complex and still contains a luge track. Built in the Soviet Union, in 1993 the luge sports complex closed and about a half year later the track caught on fire. Now the luge track is nonoperational. The sports complex however has a great story as here started out the native of Kyiv Natalya Yakushenko who was an Olympian flagbearer for Ukraine at the 2006 Winter Olympics. Today the ski resort has several pistes, one of them is for skiing. The complex also has trails for snowboarding and snowtubing. Some small ski ramps are available for more advanced ski-goers. There is a fancy ski lift and a ski school. Also equipment rental and a small cafe are open for winter sports lovers, medical center, and a ski shop to fix sports equipment. Public transportation is available from Kyiv. During a sports season the official website broadcasts its ski area throughout a day.

The battle and siege of Vyshgorod (modern Vyshhorod) took place in late 1173, during the 1171–1173 Kievan succession crisis. Commanding another broad coalition army, prince Andrey Bogolyubsky of Vladimir-Suzdal launched a second campaign against Kiev (modern Kyiv), capital city of Kievan Rus'. After the conquest and sack of Kiev in March 1169 by an earlier coalition assembled by Andrey, his brother Gleb of Pereyaslavl had been installed as the new grand prince, only to die under suspicious circumstances in January 1171. A series of princes briefly reigned in Kiev thereafter, with Andrey usually managing to put his preferred candidates on its throne, until his brother Vsevolod "the Big Nest" was driven out by the Rostislavichi of Smolensk in April 1172, enthroning Rurik Rostislavich. Andrey was most displeased when he heard about this, and assembled another coalition army under his son Yury to militarily enforce his will on Kiev. The coalition army, consisting of Yurievichi princes of Suzdalia, the Novgorod Republic, Olgovichi of Chernigov (modern Chernihiv) and various princes from present-day Belarus, approached Kiev by crossing the Dnieper from the northeast, where a pitched battle occurred, the indecisive battle of Vyshgorod. The defending Kievans and Rostislavichi then retreated into the medieval hill fortress of Vyshgorod, beleaguered by coalition forces. Reinforcements from the Iziaslavichi of Volhynia relieved them, delivering a crushing defeat upon the northern coalition, which fell apart in the aftermath. The conflict established a new balance of power, definitively breaking the short-lived Kievan overlordship (March 1169 – January 1171) of Andrey, who was assassinated by his own courtiers the next year.

Lyutizh (Ukrainian: Лютіж; Russian: Лютеж - Lyutezh) is a village 30 km to the north of Kyiv in Vyshhorod Raion of Kyiv Oblast, Ukraine, with some 2280 inhabitants (2006). It belongs to Petrivtsi rural hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine.The village, first mentioned in 975. In the 19th century Lyutizh was part of Staro-Petrovskaya volost, Kievsky Uyezd, Kiev Governorate.The village is best known for the Lyutezh bridgehead, established by troops of the 1st Ukrainian Front on the right bank of the Dnieper in the autumn of 1943 during the Battle of the Dnieper. The fighting for the bridgehead is commemorated in the National Museum-Preserve "Battle for Kyiv 1943" in the nearby village of Novi Petrivtsi.

Vyshhorod (Ukrainian: Вишгород, IPA: [ˈwɪʒɦorod]; Russian: Вышгород, romanized: Vyshgorod) is a city in Kyiv Oblast, central Ukraine, situated immediately north of the capital Kyiv, and part of the Kyiv metropolitan area. It is on the right (western) bank of the Dnieper river and, as the location of the Kyiv Hydroelectric Power Plant, the northern part of the city is beside the Kyiv Reservoir. It is the administrative center of Vyshhorod Raion and hosts the administration of Vyshhorod urban hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine.First mentioned in the 10th century, Vyshhorod is now a notable industrial center and a growing commuter town for Kyiv. Its population is approximately 33,109 (2022 estimate).

Kyiv Hydroelectric Station is a run-of-river power plant on the Dnieper River in Vyshhorod, Ukraine. The 288 m (945 ft) long dam creates the Kyiv Reservoir with the purpose of hydroelectric power generation and navigability with the dam's associated lock. The first of 20 generators in the power station was commissioned in 1964, and the last in 1968. Together with the Kyiv Pumped Storage Power Station, it creates a hydroelectricity generating complex. It is operated by the Ukrhydroenergo. Turbines for the plant were produced by the Kharkiv Factory Turboatom, and generators by the Kharkiv Factory "Elektrovazhmash".

Heroiv Dnipra (Ukrainian: Героїв Дніпра literally: Heroes of the Dnieper, (listen)) is a station on Kyiv Metro's Obolonsko–Teremkivska line. The station was opened on 6 November 1982 in the Obolonskyi Raion of Kyiv and was designed by G.D. Andreev. The Metro station is named after the street directly above it. The station is closer to the surface than a lot of other Metro stations. The platform has a central hall with brown square columns. The walls are adorned with white and yellow marble, and the floor is red granite. There are socialist red stars (due to be removed due to 2015 decommunization laws) at the top of the columns, which is also where the station's lighting comes from. The station is accessible by two passenger tunnels; one leading to Obolonskyi Prospect and the other to Heroiv Dnipra Street (from which it takes its name). Voters chose to rename the station Heroiv Ukrayiny (Ukrainian: Героїв України; Heroes of Ukraine) - another choice was Heroiv Mariupolya - in a poll taken during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine.
