Patrick Sarsfields Gaelic Athletic Association is a Gaelic football, hurling, camogie and ladies' Gaelic football club based in West Belfast, County Antrim, Northern Ireland.

De La Salle College is a non-selective boys' secondary Catholic maintained school in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It is a Lasallian educational institution affiliated with the De La Salle Brothers, a Roman Catholic religious teaching order founded by French Priest Saint Jean-Baptiste de La Salle. As of 2018/2019 the school's enrolment was around 926.

St Mary's Christian Brothers' Grammar School (St Mary's CBGS) is a Roman Catholic boys' grammar school in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

The Battle of Lenadoon was a series of gun battles fought over a six day period from 9–14 July 1972 between the Provisional IRA and the British Army. It started on Thursday, 9 July 1972 in and around the Lenadoon Avenue area and spread to other places in Belfast. Loyalist paramilitaries and the Official Irish Republican Army were involved in some of the incidents. 28 people in total were killed in Belfast according to the CAIN: Sutton Index of Deaths. The violence ended a two-week truce between the forces of the British Government and the IRA.

Christian Brothers' School or CBS, (Irish: Scoil na mBráithre Críostaí), was a secondary school on the Glen Road, west Belfast, Northern Ireland.CBS was founded in 1962 by the Christian Brothers, a religious order founded by Edmund Ignatius Rice in the early 19th century.

Belfast West (Irish: Béal Feirste Thiar, Ulster Scots: Belfast West) is a constituency in the Northern Ireland Assembly. It was first used for a Northern Ireland-only election in 1973, which elected the then Northern Ireland Assembly. It usually shares boundaries with the Belfast West UK Parliament constituency. However, the boundaries of the two constituencies were slightly different from 1973 to 1974, 1983 to 1986 and 2010 to 2011 (because the Assembly boundaries had not caught up with Parliamentary boundary changes) and from 1996 to 1997, when members of the Northern Ireland Forum had been elected from the newly drawn Parliamentary constituencies but the 51st Parliament of the United Kingdom, elected in 1992 under the 1983–95 constituency boundaries, was still in session. Members were then elected from the constituency to the 1975 Constitutional Convention, the 1982 Assembly, the 1996 Forum and then to the current Assembly from 1998. Andersonstown is a suburb of west Belfast, Northern Ireland, at the foot of the Black Mountain and Divis Mountain. It contains a mixture of public and private housing and is largely a working-class area with a strong Irish nationalist and Irish Catholic tradition. The district is sometimes colloquially referred to as "Andytown". This area stretches between the Shaws Road, the Glen Road and the Andersonstown Road.

Gort na Móna is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. A member of Antrim GAA, it competes in Gaelic football, hurling, camogie and handball. The Irish-language name means "turf field". The club currently competes at Division 1 level in Senior Football and division 2 in hurling.

The 1976 Andersonstown incident or the 1976 Andersonstown-Finaghy incident, was a brief altercation between members of the Provisional IRA and the British Army, in Andersonstown and North Finaghy, in August 1976. Which resulted in the deaths of 3 children who were killed when a car struck them after the man driving was shot and killed.

British Army corporals Derek Wood and David Howes were killed by the Provisional IRA on 19 March 1988 in Belfast, Northern Ireland, in what became known as the corporals killings. The soldiers (wearing civilian clothes, both armed with Browning Hi-Power pistols and in a civilian car) drove into the funeral procession of an IRA member. Three days before, loyalist Michael Stone had attacked an IRA funeral and killed three people. Believing the soldiers were loyalists intent on repeating Stone's attack, dozens of people surrounded and attacked their car. During this, Corporal Wood drew his service pistol and fired a shot into the air. The soldiers were then dragged from the car and taken to a nearby sports ground where they were beaten, stripped and searched. They were then driven to a nearby waste ground where they were shot dead.The incident was filmed by an overhead British Army helicopter and television news cameras; the images have been described by journalist Peter Taylor as some of the "most dramatic and harrowing" of the conflict in Northern Ireland.Two men were sentenced to life imprisonment for murder, but were released in 1998 under the terms of the Good Friday Agreement. Several other men received lesser sentences for their part in the murders.

Catherine and Gerard Mahon were a husband and wife who lived in the Twinbrook suburb of Belfast. Gerard, aged twenty-eight, was a mechanic; Catherine, was twenty-seven. They were killed by the Provisional Irish Republican Army (Provisional IRA) on 8 September 1985, the Provisional IRA alleging they were informers. However at least two of those responsible for their deaths were later uncovered as British agents within the Provisional IRA's Internal Security Unit, leaving the actual status of the Mahons as informers open to doubt.

Donegal Celtic Park, also known as Suffolk Road and Celtic Park or more recently the New Suffolk Road after its recent expansion, is the home of amateur league team Donegal Celtic. It is situated in the Suffolk Road in west Belfast. The stadium holds 8,283, but is currently restricted to 2,330 under safety legislation.In early August 2009, work on two new stands was completed. A home stand seating 1,850 spectators and an away stand seating 800 are the first phase in a plan to create a 5000 seated capacity ground. The plan is expected to take several years to complete.
